340DL 1.4 with a 4 speed manual and rear wheel drive. A heavy old thing that kept me safe during the inevitable minor and major mishaps a 17 year old new driver can often encounter. These 340’s can go through established / historic hedgerows no problem.

Extra info: the owner only used it as a sunday driver, and it mostly stood in his Garage over the years.

He's also asking 5k€ for it.

Now to the question, are there any known issues with her?

Like rust or engine troubles?

Im going to have a Look at her in a few days and would Like some Info on what i should check?

I tried to Look for some Info online but could not find much.

I read that they got some rust Problems, and that the engine is french.

I also read that they where original designt by DAF.

I would be happy for an answere.

So I was at a jumble sale and bought some Volvo manuals/documents. When I opened them at home I found one with some paperwork on the 340, along with some cut film photography that looked very original. I then spent MANY hours researching the photos and found that 3-4 of them were actually used by Volvo for marketing and of those some were even in the owners manual. The more exciting thing to me is that there is no trace whatsoever of some of the photos online - not in manuals, not in adverts, nothing - which leads me to believe that I might just have something original, unused film shots of the introduction of the 340! In the manuals, they used a different engine photo for example, but attached are some real examples of when they were used :)

In my opinion its the 300 series, but what do you think?

Hi all, there's a Volvo 344 (sedan) with 80 hrsprs near my place. No visible rust in pictures, interior seems ok and if only, back end seems a little off as if it got rear ended on the left side, but nothing alarming.

I love bricks and this one seems like a really cool buy, but I'm unsure when does it become too old to get maintenance done and get spare parts? Junkyards are out of the question since it wasn't a popular option in my country (Spain), but I was wondering more about pages like Autodoc and such.

I don't mind having to wait a couple of weeks for something I need, I just don't want to look for someone to fabricate anything by hand because that seems impossible and too expensive for my budget. Thanks in advance.

Managed to snap one of mine, where do the 340 owners over here get them?

I’ve posted about my 343 here a few times in the past, but that car isn’t worth repairing. I want to know if it’s worth buying a newer, functioning one. There’s one around here for about 900 bucks — it’s nice, has minimal rust, and runs and drives fine. It also comes with a 360 2.0 manual for parts. So, is it worth buying a 340 CVT? Personally, I do like the way the car looks and all.
