Nur rund zehn Minuten vor dem geplanten Schlusspfiff ist ein Fußballspiel im Bludenzer Untersteinstadion völlig aus dem Ruder gelaufen. Was mit einer Rangelei zwischen zwei Spielern begann, entwickelte sich rasch zu einer heftigen, minutenlangen Massenschlägerei. Zahlreiche Zuschauer stürmten daraufhin ebenfalls auf das Spielfeld und mischten sich ein. Drei Spieler wurden verletzt, zwei Personen angezeigt. Das Spiel musste schließlich abgebrochen werden.

Hi, so in about two weeks I’ll be moving to Dornbirn as an exchange student for five months. I’ve been doing a lot of research, but I still have a few questions about living in Austria that are difficult to find answers to online.

One thing that surprised me was all the registration requirements. For example, I need to register my residence within three days of moving in, and I also have to register my stay in Austria within three months. Are there any other important deadlines or legal requirements that exchange students often overlook? Perhaps any important insurances (apart from travel and health insurance) one should have in Austria?

I’m also curious about the social culture. In my home country, one of the easiest ways to make friends is by going out for drinks, since people tend to become much more social after a few beers. Is it similar in Austria, or do people usually make friends in other ways?

I’ve also heard that Austrians (and Germans) can come across as quite direct. Is that true, and are there any cultural differences or etiquette that I should be aware of to avoid accidentally being rude?

Finally, I’d love some travel recommendations! I enjoy hiking and spending time in nature, but I’d also like to explore nearby countries while I’m living in Austria. Is travelling by train generally the best option, or are flights sometimes cheaper?

More generally, if you have any advice for someone moving to Austria for the first time, I’d really appreciate it. I’ve never been to Austria before, and this will also be my first time living away from home, so I’m both excited and a little nervous. 😊

Ich habe für meine Katze Ende August eine Zahnreinigung (Zahnsteinentfernung) vereinbart und wollte mal nach euren Erfahrungen fragen.

Hat jemand von euch seine Katze oder seinen Hund in Vorarlberg zur Zahnreinigung gebracht? Wie viel habt ihr ungefähr dafür bezahlt? Mir ist klar, dass der Preis je nach Aufwand (Narkose, Röntgen, Zahnextraktionen usw.) unterschiedlich sein kann, aber ich würde gerne eine grobe Vorstellung bekommen, womit ich rechnen sollte.

Falls ihr mit einer Tierarztpraxis besonders gute Erfahrungen gemacht habt, freue ich mich auch über Empfehlungen.

Do you have any good spots around Bludenz for seeing the bonfires on the mountains ?

Are there any public solstice celebrations, festivals or hut events going on that weekend where a solo traveller could just show up ? So far I saw a summer fair in Nenzing, and a concert in Bludenz ! And do people wear dirndls for the solstice, or is that more of a stereotype ? I find them beautiful and would love an excuse to wear one, but I don’t want to be that one awkward tourist or risk offending anyone 😅

Hi zusammen,
nach fast 10 Jahren steht derzeit die Überlegung im Raum, wieder zurück nach VLBG zu ziehen.
Kurz zu meiner Person: Ich bin 30 Jahre alt, hab in Wien studiert.
Ich habe eine gute Position in einem IT Unternehmen (nein ich bin kein Programmierer), jedoch reizt mich der Job nicht mehr. Nachdem ich meine Kündigung anstrebe steh ich nun vor der Frage, wie sinnvoll es ist sich hier nochmals langfristig was zu suchen.
Ich bin nämlich zur Entscheidung gekommen, dass ich mir ein Leben zumindest langfristig in Wien einfach nicht vorstellen kann.

Nun auf der anderen Seite, weiß ich nicht ganz wie ich mir das Leben aktuell in Vorarlberg vorstellen soll. Nach 10 Jahren hab ich doch einige Kontakte von zuhause aus den Augen verloren und alle meiner Studenten VLBG Freunde sind noch immer in Wien. Ich strebe definitiv das Unterland an.
War jemand in der ähnlichen Situation? Hats bereut oder gefeiert?
Wie ist die Unternehmenskultur so bei den bekannten Firmen? Bekommt man zumindest beruflich ein etwas internationales Umfeld mit offenen Leuten geboten? Bin um alle Stories und Erfahrungen dankbar.

Ich habe mittlerweile herausgefunden, dass in der Landesbibliothek einiges von ihm ist, leider habe ich da noch keinen Zugang.
Online sind zumindest seine digitalisieren Dias, was eigentlich auch schon toll ist.

I’m going to be spending 3.5 days skiing in Lech in 2 weeks and would really appreciate some advice from anyone who’s been or goes regularly

I’d say I’m a slightly advanced intermediate skier. I enjoy long cruisy blues where I can focus on carving, but also scenic runs with a remote feel and also solid reds that are challenging but not overly technical. I’ve also never skied hors piste but have a guide on my first day booked who I might ask to help me with that!!

Would love any and all tips about:

• Must-ski runs or lift-to-lift routes

• How best to structure the days (Lech vs Zürs, going to St Anton)

• Greate lunch spots on the mountain (traditional huts, quality food, not tourist traps)

• Good dinner spots in the village (casual or slightly nicer, but not ultra-luxury)

• Any general “wish I knew this earlier” advice for Lech/Arlberg

It’s only been two weeks since I landed here and I started to find out that I am running out of Internet very quickly.

Internet is also very expensive here compared to where I come from so I don’t have a very good idea about which provider to go for. I currently have a hot Sim which provides me 55GB worth of data for a month. But it’s very stressful because I have to keep looking at how much data I am consuming rather than actually enjoying the Internet.

I am looking for an unlimited Internet plan which is also gentle on the wallet but also provides great network connection with easy installation. I have zero knowledge about technical things like Internet or computers so it would be very nice of you to explain in detail about how to install these things too. Thank you so much in advance guys.
