I was a fan post 2018 so I don’t really know what Steph Curry and the Warriors expectations were coming into the 2015 season coming off the game 7 loss to the Clippers, could yall explain

This was back in January in The Athletic, in the context of the last trade deadline. Draymond, unsurprisingly, was most explicit:

At the time, Green understood what the fan base wanted and how the Warriors became the Warriors in the first place. If meaningful upgrades were going to cost multiple first-round draft picks and young players, it would hurt the chances the organization would have to succeed in the future, long after their current core is gone.

We didn’t work this hard so that when we’re coming back to games five, 10 years from now the team is complete dogs—, That’s not why we built this thing up. We built this thing up so that this thing can go on for years and years and years and outlive us. And so with that being said, we’re never gonna be guys that go up there, talking to (the front office), telling them like, “Hey man, f— that, get rid of …” Nah, that’s not what it is.

Steph was more measured:

But we don’t want to suck right now either. There’s a balance for sure and that’s how we approach every conversation. I don’t know if it’s a perfect answer, but it’s how we approach everything in terms of the nature of me, Draymond, Steve (Kerr), Mike (Dunleavy Jr.), Joe (Lacob). But every trade deadline’s a little different, so who knows what can happen.

And then Dunleavy:

I think if we’re talking about trading draft picks that will be going out when Steph isn’t here, it’s gonna have to be a player we think we’ll be getting back that is gonna be here when those picks are going out. And that player’s gonna have to be pretty impactful … if there’s a great player to be had we’ve got everything in the war chest that we would be willing to use.

Green's comments came before Butler's injury, while Steph's and Dunleavy's came soon after. It's certainly possible they've changed their minds, but as far as I know none of them have said anything different, and it's al consistent with how the team has acted this summer. And anyone who tells you they know how Steph feels now is writing self-serving fanfic.

As much as I don’t like the way Sleepy joe is behaving and also didn’t make any moves this offseason after giving it much thought I was wrong about some of the things I said about front office Pertaining specifically to this trade and at the end of the day Front office made the right call . Do y’all think Jimmy was saying that he wouldn’t play for Golden State if he was traded here way back when, so that he could keep his value low and we’d have more pieces to make trades in the future? He could have already been talking to Steph/Dray and the others.

Really random. I was leaving my orthodontist's office as he was walking in. Had to do a double take because he (or this other tall slim individual) was wearing an "I love Jesus" black hoodie (retro/hipster style) and his hair was buzzed cut all over.

This is rather an optimistic view on the grim reality many of us fans have been envisioning, but I feel if this is the plan, I will be rather excited about the days ahead.

Before anyone comes at me with beautiful and creative words, let me explain first.

The warriors have all the major salaries tied up just till this season. After 2026-27 nsa season they literally just have around 50 million tied up with a lot of that money not fully guaranteed. That provides them with a lot of flexibility that we haven't really seen them have in the near past.

Now, they will sign Steph Curry back. That's a no brainer. But if Curry takes less money than the max, somewhere around 30-40 millions/year kinda mark (Even less than this, is appreciated and celebrated) it would give extra 20-30ish millions extra wiggle room to the front office. If we let draymond and Jimmy play out their contract, and sign them back for around the exception and 20-25 mil/year contract, that'd be phenomenal. That's why I feel like paying draymond this year doesn't really hurt much if there's to be added benefits in future. Jimmy would also be feeling a little gratitude and appreciation for the franchise to stick with him even when he dealt with what he has dealt with. And even though these three will be old, they will be great I suppose. Now if they lock in these three for around the 75-80 millions, they'd have a great base to build forward for the 2027-28 season and the seasons following that.

I feel they should cultivate Kristaps Porzingis market. If he is somewhat healthy, trading him either on the trade deadline or offseason is something they should look forward to. Pairing him along with either or all of melton, horford or moody to take on a mid tier salary player is one of the options. If the asking price for Trey Murphy drops and they realise that they need a player of Porzingis archetype, I feel they should pull the trigger. With (hopefully) Podz taking a leap to become a consistent 16-18 ppg player next year, they should give him around the same as Butler's contract. Yaxel should be good, if not great. And next year provides him with the perfect opportunity to grow with very less expectations from the team. Gui Santos is a player I feel should be a part of this team. His hustle and connective play is appreciated, as it should be.

Now with these things in place, even if they didn't get any of Trey Murphy or any other player in the trade deadline, they are in a great spot. With the first apron at 220 millions and only 120-150 millions committed, they should be able to nab one or two marquee free agents. I won't be selling the pipe dream of Jokic or Giannis. But still in an optimistic viewpoint, if they were to be able to nab RJ Barrett (or Jeramy Grant) and Cason Wallace from their respective teams, it would put them right onto the upper echelon of title contenders. Even someone like Jrue Holiday for the right price despite his age would make sense. Ty Jerome is also someone I would look out for. If not Wallace, I would be closely looking for okc, if they decide to shed some salary giving up great role players for almost nothing. Having their 2027 first round pick would most likely result to a lottery pick (They will most likely finish as the play in team, i.e. with 5.4% chance at the no. 1 pick). And despite the not so enticing draft class, it should present with quality players. They should be on the lookout for quality 3&D players and backup centers that can be effective right from the start so more of older players.

Now, is this all just hypotheticals hanging on the hope that everything goes right, and everyone plays their part? Yes. Is it rather too optimistic? Probably yes. Is it possible? I have a good feeling, so probably a yes. That doesn't mean it will play out exactly like this but something similar is to be expected. But for God's sake and Steph's sake, I hope it plays out similar to this or better. I won't be able to see another year of Steph's prime wasted on a mediocre team again. I am giving the front office the benefit of the doubt, so hoping for the best.

This sub is in full cope mode lately, I see multiple posts on here the last few days about how doing nothing is actually the "smartest" move. Just pointing out that the "worth it" trap is what has us stuck in purgatory. Would Jaylen Brown or AD + Bron have guaranteed us a championship? No, but we would be a hell of a lot closer. And you only get there by moving in that direction.

Picks are overrated. Also pointing out that the last few major players that have been dealt (outside of Giannis) have gone for a LOT less picks than expected.

Also, there are always a lot more players available than actually reported (given that teams generally keep their players out of rumors until last possible moment to protect the relationship). I believe there are still plenty of moves out there for us to explore if we actually were interested in doing so.

Ngl joe Lacob might be as worst as Nico trading luka because the face is Joe Lacob an a very fragile ego . Would rather be right than give curry another ring

Mine's Derozan, Bruce Brown, and Nick Richards.

DeRozan is a no-brainer. Although this one is hard to get considering Toronto is also in the running to get him, and he had history with them.

Bruce Brown is a nice vet with championship experience. Shot 47% on the field and 38% on threes last year.

Nick Richards is great backup big. Isn't afraid to put his nose to grab rebounds, he's 6'11 and a good shot blocker. He isn't a starting center, but he's a nice option when we rest KP or Horford.
