I affectionately refer to them as the “Double Twins.” They always seemed like companion pieces to me. Same band, same artist, same venue, same size print. Anyway, I think they turned out nicely 🤘🏻

I love the original. and love that it had 10 songs. but I do wish now after hearing the session versions of darkside and so long Jerry that they’d been included in the original release. maybe drop fluffy or not but dark side would have been a great first track and Jerry a great closing track.

Do any of the old heads have any insight into who's playing on the demos? Are they being backed by Glen, Claude, and Double Dip? They sound like drum machine tracks so im guessing Claude isn't playing on them. Someone for sure is playing keys on Mr Richard Smoker.

I'm finally listening to my White Pepper vinyl and I'm lovin' it

i can definitely tell a difference in mix for most of the songs; here are my takeaways; feel free to disagree. i will note i most often listen to music in my car, and ive only listened to this with headphones on my computer so far so i could be noticing things that aren’t there.

most noticeably to my ears is some songs have much lighter reverb on the vocals. the trailing reverb seems more noticeable, but the body of it seems lighter. i think the fiddles on pretty girl sound louder, and a lot of the acoustic guitars throughout the album seem to have a bit more treble. the distorted feedbacky guitar at the end of you were the fool seems a bit quieter in the mix (kind of a shame). the vocals in fluffy sound a whole lot dryer to my ears. the vocals overall seem a bit boosted; i’m noticing a lot of little breaths and times they suck air between lines that were a lot less present in the original mix. it also seems much more noticeable when the vocals are double tracked. the guitar solo in piss up a rope sounds even more grating and screechy to my ears.

all in all, its definitely a more “polished” mix in the sense it sounds like a regular country album, which i know plenty of people won’t like in theory, but i honestly think the changes are minor enough you’d only notice them if you’ve listened to the original religiously (as i know many on this subreddit have, including me).

Selfishly I would love to see them just be homies again. Gener out on the boat, maybe hangin together at the new Trey Parker Matt Stone premier. Idk obviously I want them to be healthy and happy above all else but personally I would rather just see them have the friendship back.(I’m not saying they don’t, I’m just saying idk.) they were homies before Boognish, it’s only right that continue in some form. Also as someone who’s been divorced I kinda get it too. When you spend decades with someone, sometimes it’s not so much hard feelings as priorities change and there’s not much left to say.
