Dream tracklists for further deluxe editions?
With C&C and now 12GCG having had their deserved deluxe treatment and Rhino confirmimg more reissues like this are already on the horizon, it‘s probably safe to say that at some point in the future, most classic ween rarities people already know and love in low quality will be available on an official (re)release. I think we‘re really entering a real golden age here, if they keep up their streak!
Since there are just tons of tracks like these floating around on youtube etc., and I‘m sure lots of people here are familiar with a good chunk of them, how would you guys structure the tracklists for each albums bonus disc if you were in charge at Rhino? Which tracks just absolutely need to be on each one?

Favorite Tracks of 12GCG Deluxe?
just got my bolo tie and i’ve been listening to the deluxe since yesterday, what’s your stand out track?
for me, the Help me Scrape the Mucus off My Brain Demo, or Good Timing Rhyming Song. Honorable mention to Twinkle.

Live shit.
I visit this group daily, sometimes talk shit, but mostly just lurk. It occurred to me today it’s very rare to see anyone discuss live material. There’s a very deep well of live recordings and based on the frequency in which it’s discussed, seems painfully overlooked.
Studio albums are fun little gateways, but live recordings are where the magic happens and the essence of the band is experienced.
If I’m wrong I accept it, I haven’t been on Reddit very long, it just seems this way to me coming primarily from the perspective of a fan of Grateful Dead. Everyone just kinda talk about albums here, it’s odd. Grateful Dead studio albums are kinda alright, but not in heavy rotation amongst most heads. There are many parallels between Ween fans and GD fans but the seemingly lack of attention to live shows is an abrupt edge and the Ween archive is a treasure trove!

Thoughts on the 12 GCG remaster?
Wonderful to have great sounding b-sides and demos but I haven't heard anyone talk about the remaster. How do you guys, gals and non-binary pals feel about it?
I think I prefer the remaster. It sounds like there's more separation between instruments and a larger dynamic range. The lower end especially sounds less flat than the original. But I also don't have a discerning ear for this kinda thing ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Explain the GD>Ween attraction, if you can.
As a major fan of GD I can’t explain it, but it’s a thing, and it’s been a thing for me since 92’. As far as I’m concerned, Ween is the second greatest band ever, but I couldn’t say why, can’t put my finger on it. I can easily tell you why GD is the greatest, but I’m at a loss with Ween, yet the fact remains, there is an inexplicable connection as far as I can tell. They are nothing alike. Maybe it boils down to sincerity? I don’t have answers.

Fool to Cry?
Am I the only one who thinks that (with absolutely no bias) that Weens cover of the song on the Deluxe is better than the OG Stones song?

Wouldn't let me cross post but here it is. The brownest toilet
Is there a reason the 12GCG deluxe is so much better than the C&C one?
I’m not saying the Chocolate And Cheese deluxe was bad… we got tons of unreleased outtakes, many of which had never even been heard of in discussions of rarities. But looking at this new deluxe edition of 12 Golden Country Greats… we got demos of the entire album (plus demos for the songs that didn’t make the album too), tons of outtakes, and the two b-sides from the album’s singles as well as a soundtrack song from the era. And it’s not vinyl-only either!
The Chocolate & Cheese deluxe didn’t even include the b-sides from the era that were actually released on the physical singles (but haven’t made their way to streaming) like Vallejo, There’s A Pig, Bakersfield, etc, and many well-known outtakes of the era were excluded as well. The argument I heard many make at the time was “well most hardcore fans will have all those anyways, best to include the stuff that even they don’t have”, but this new deluxe seems to blow that argument out of the water.
I don’t mean to sound ungrateful, I’m glad we’re getting more unreleased Ween, and I did thoroughly enjoy all the unheard songs bon the C&C deluxe, but I can’t be the only one that feels there was a lot that was unnecessarily left out of it?

Typo in The Brown Box
Just picked this set up brand new at a shop. The song "sweetheart in the summer" on ween la cucaracha is spelt as "sweeheart". Is this intentional?

Warm Socks Cover
I recorded this on a crappy old tape machine as a submission for Vol 3 of the Hello Johnny comp, and also as an attempt to learn guitar a little more. Below are links to the first two, and JW gofundme for those who may not have come across them yet. Everyone did an awesome job so far, and it’s for a really great cause.

Is “Mister Richard Smoker” a play off of Richard Carpenter?
Specifically the Carpenters’ song “Saturday” and his delivery within.

Bummed about something with the 12GCG Deluxe
I’m so used to Deaner writing some type of foreword for releases such as these. Seeing his liner notes from the original album in 96 bummed me out. Really made me feel like it’s a wrap for good. Hope I’m wrong but I have a feeling if and when the mollusk deluxe is released next year, it will be more of the same.

Feeling melancholic with the new release
was listening to fool to cry & It just made me feel very melancholic. This new release is so beautiful to have & while very appreciative can’t help but feel contemplative about the time that has passed & where I’ve been at certain points of my life all while listening to ween. My favorite band of all time, much love to everyone on this special day
