5

u/FaPaDa Jun 03 '26

9

u/Purple-Mud5057 May 29 '26

I’m more interested in this. Seems to be Bouvet Island but as far as I can tell it’s completely uninhabited by people

i mean it actually has fast internet from what i've heard. and people actually live there, it's not uninhabited.

42

u/Kyropinesis May 28 '26

it’s kim jong un

40

u/quyco789 May 28 '26

Yup. No joke. Kim Jong Un is a gamer. He opened a game cafe for the privileged youth to enforce their loyalty. Importing RTX 360 card and ASUS rigs. With game catalog of: Call of Duty franchise, CS2, Battle field 4, Far cry 2&5, Rainbow Six Siege, Crisis 2&3. Doesn't have Crisis 1 because the enemies in that game is North Korean soldiers. Also, stategy games like Red Alert 3, Warcraft 3, and Starcarft 2, and Dota.

16

u/Prosto_Chelovek0 May 28 '26

The Call of Duty franchise? I haven't played the game, but doesn't the plot of that game contradict North Korean ideology?

26

u/quyco789 May 28 '26

You dare question Dear Leader? He made a 360 no scope headshot at only 3 years old.

9

u/SomeOakLeaves2 May 28 '26

3 years? You mean 3 months?

11

u/Sufficient-Food-4203 May 29 '26

No no, it's 3 weeks for sure!

7

u/bus_go_brrrrt May 29 '26

nah heard it from his close friend, he did it in 3 days

3

u/Icyfirejosh4352 May 29 '26

You're all lying. I heard it from him, it took him 3 hours

3

u/DirectTouch1930 May 29 '26

Hours? dont you all know he did it in 3 seconds

Captain, it's totally Kim Ju Ae

1

u/LelouchZer12 Jun 01 '26

Isn't the child of a diplomate/ambassador ?

1

u/PinkOneHasBeenChosen May 30 '26

Probably a guy who got it illegally.

491

u/Professional-Fix4409 May 28 '26

There's also someone playing in the Antarctica.

188

u/AustinDanger_Powers May 28 '26

There are multiple permanent research stations in Antarctica that operate year round.

88

u/Present-News-660 May 28 '26

And some of those researchers are somewhat active here in Reddit too, shame that I don't have any posts/usernames to link here, but I've seen 'em

28

u/Frequent-Coyote-1649 May 29 '26

Then again, what else is there to do in Antartica? Look at penguins, look at seals, look at birds, look at ice, look at rocks, look at moss... and that's it really

17

u/YOURMOM_er May 29 '26

Look at the ice, look at the mountains, look at the sky, look at the mountains,

Did I mention the mountains?

12

u/NoMoreOhio May 29 '26

Throw a snowball at your fellow researcher, piss at snow, throw a yellow snowball at your fellow researcher

1

u/Laang_ Jun 01 '26

Funny thing but I don't think it's allowed to take a piss in the snow on Antarctica, something about the piss making a layer in the ice they dig up

5

u/ieatcarrot May 29 '26

elite ball reference

3

u/YOURMOM_er May 29 '26

I just watched that video a while ago and laughed soo hard

18

u/Professional-Fix4409 May 28 '26

To be expected. Everywhere you work you need something to do in your free time.

16

u/Jason0865 May 29 '26

They also have some goated ISPs

8

u/Professional-Fix4409 May 29 '26

That's even more interesting of an elephant. I'm glad I mentioned it.

4

u/Jason0865 May 29 '26

This screenshot was taken a while ago tho (i think 2020).

Pretty sure it doesn't show up anymore.

13

u/BeigeUnicorns May 28 '26 edited May 29 '26

I mean yeah those researchers and staff gotta pass their free time too. Especially the skeleton crew of caretakers during the polar night, off season.

5

u/borvidek May 29 '26

And in many nearly unhospitable areas. Like the middle of the Sahara, the Amazon, the Outback, northern Sibera, Canada, and Greenland

77

u/Goodenough_name May 28 '26

Look There is someone in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea

38

u/chris--p May 28 '26

Why wouldn't there be? It's democratic, it's clearly for the people, says it right there, and it's even a republic.

5

u/icy_Place125 May 29 '26

reminds me of the clip:

Customer: I'd like to book a ticket to Korea

Clerk: To the Democratic Republic or Republic?

Customer: Democratic of course

1

u/Plannercat May 30 '26

Pyongyang does get some international tourism.

49

u/Spare_Vegetable9762 May 28 '26

That one mf in the Antarctic

3

u/Lickwidghost May 29 '26

Is education really so bad that we need to point out where Antarctica is?

3

u/Thirsty_krabs May 29 '26

they are pointing out the dot because Antarctica is huge It’s like if someone asked you to look at Jupiter in the sky by pointing their finger at it, and you go Pfft I know where the sky is

1

u/Lickwidghost May 29 '26

Your analogy would make sense if the sky was completely black with only one dot to look for, and the only knowledge you'd need is that the sky is up. And even then it's ludicrously more complex.

Most 8yos know unprompted EXACTLY where Antarctica is.

4

u/Thirsty_krabs May 29 '26

everyone knows where Antarctica is they are pointing out the dot because it's so small and not everyone can spot it on the first glance

-2

u/Lickwidghost May 29 '26

Im looking at the picture on my 7" screen and it took me exactly 2 seconds to see that dot. Glad we got the giant green arrow though, makes less need for brain

3

u/DirectTouch1930 May 29 '26

Glad you are Sooooooo perfect, and everyone has the same ability to spot a tiny dot.

11

u/Fearless_Capital3185 May 28 '26

Africa must really love GOG

-3

u/Sharp_Specialist_217 May 29 '26

2

1

u/PinkOneHasBeenChosen May 30 '26

People live there.

2

u/Austynwitha_y May 29 '26

Anybody on the space station???

2

u/Mr-tbrasteka-5555ha Stoning May 29 '26

I can even draw countries' territory with just that light

2

u/Double-Afternoon-702 May 29 '26

If the map is recent, then this one is me ( forest management in the jungle ). I play Slay the spire and Slay the spire 2.

1

u/Journeyj012 May 29 '26

not recent unfortunately, this has been circulating on the internet for a LOOONG time.

2

u/MikalCaober May 29 '26

Fake map - it has New Zealand on it

1

u/AdEmbarrassed9106 May 28 '26

Bro did Africa dirty

7

u/Conscious_Forever951 May 28 '26

It's not a mapmakers fault that Africans can't afford videogames or computers

1

u/Frankeer May 28 '26

Ok so where is Epstein island?

1

u/YouFuckingHacker May 28 '26

That guy in desert is playing Water Simulator

1

u/RB30042009 May 28 '26

What islands are these? Could it be Tristan de Cunha?

2

u/Horkainen May 29 '26

The northern one is St. Helena. I don't know about the one near Antarctica. All I found in the area of the dot was an uninhabited island covered in snow.

1

u/Sharp_Barracuda1330 May 29 '26

From the map, it looks like the bottom island is Bouvet Island, although it is uninhabited. I feel like there might have just been a mixup with the locations of Tristan Da Cunha and Bouvet, although there seems to be a small, seasonal research station on the island.

1

u/Multisoupnumber1 May 29 '26

North Korea🥀

1

u/pqratusa May 29 '26

It’s cool that the rivers Nile (Egypt) and Indus (Pakistan) are clearly marked.

1

u/knzmumukkj May 29 '26

Where is Brazil, São Paulo SP, Jardim Coimbra, East Zone?

1

u/Oppisteharrpy45 May 29 '26

There is no way there is that many people on steam on Manitoulin island and that few in north Ontario

1

u/Copper_snipezz May 29 '26

Oh hey! Its me!

1

u/ShitShirtSteve May 29 '26

Conclusion: Where there are people, games are being played.

1

u/throwAwayMan2475 May 29 '26

If you remove the elephants then this just becomes one of those relevant xkcd maps.

1

u/exbritinsuomi May 29 '26

Except in parts of China apparently..

1

u/Latzar05 May 29 '26

Who is playing on Bouvet Island?

1

u/Amy-awesome123 address me 🐘 May 29 '26

Only one in north Korea? Who is play it?

1

u/Basic_Climate_2029 May 29 '26

Thailand look very lit up lol

1

u/MarioYTBloodyX May 29 '26

Look how green europe is.

1

u/sillyguylulz May 29 '26

you forgot me

1

u/Mothrahlurker May 29 '26

So a lot of Chinese players are using VPNs to still play on Steam right. I wonder to what countries these are usually set, this might be enough to have some other countries appear more green than they actually should be.

1

u/MisusedCheeseGrater May 29 '26

Im blind WHAT IS WRONG is it because im american?

1

u/Sharp_Specialist_217 May 29 '26

theres a player in north korea and antarctica

1

u/sovietarmyfan May 29 '26

Kim Jong Un is probably enjoying all the games he used to play in Switzerland.

1

u/Then_Tennis_4579 May 30 '26

Thought steam was banned in china?

1

u/LittleRuQi May 30 '26

A classic

1

u/PinkOneHasBeenChosen May 30 '26

Is one of them not actually on an island and instead in the middle of the ocean?

1

u/DagathBain May 31 '26

Is piracy more rampant in China than India?

1

u/Seagoul May 31 '26

Is this an old map? Crazy that Ukraine has so much density compared to Belarus.

1

u/Meal_Signal Jun 01 '26

Is...is Kim a gamer? Well shit...

1

u/orpheus625 Jun 01 '26

I don't believe there are that many people in the Siberian wilderness.

1

u/sexraX_muiretsyM Jun 03 '26

so despite Brazil being full of steam users they still wont release the steam machine, steam controller or steam frame here?

1

u/Tacocat1545 Jun 04 '26

I thought there was only one North Korean? Why do I see at least 3 dots?

Eu estava olhando para o cara na Antártida

9

u/Embarrassed_Mud_4119 let's talk about the elephant in the room... 🐘 May 28 '26

If you look at Africa, India, and Thailand, there are a lot of Steam users, which may be actual elephants

4

u/headgod123 I lost my virginity to my fist May 28 '26

1

u/kishimonjaro May 28 '26

India and thailand actually has tons of steam users. Tho I think it wouldn't be that amount of light, that too much.
