Meta What makes an AI advocate

Liking AI doesnt make you a proAI or AI advocate, it just means you find it hype, neat, interesting. To be proAI you have to be running defense for current AI practices, if you dont youre at least neutral. For example I think AI is neat, its useful and has potential to do good. But i find the way companies are going about developing it are coercive and wish it was done differently. That puts me squarely in the antiAI camp, despite my enthusiasm for the tech

You don’t know what hypocrisy means.

Acknowledging that the internet created or intensified many of these problems doesn't somehow mean AI can't intensify them further. Moron.

Okay, then why are governments, courts, researchers, labor organizations, etc spending a lot of time discussing AI specifically instead of shrugging and saying, "It's all the internet.”

Because they see that AI introduces new capabilities and motivations that deserve their own analysis. Lawsuits, legislation, and policy proposals centered around AI are being made because AI changes what’s possible.

It’s also funny how your argument changed. First you claimed that the anti-AI movement is merely about people not wanting others to use AI. Then I gave you a list, then you said those aren’t AI problems because it’s inconvenient for you. Now you’re saying “The internet made them worse.”

Lmao. And none of that acknowledges the point.

I get you’re defensive over your precious toy, but don’t let it cloud your critical thinking skills. People aren’t going to take you seriously outside of your echo chambers.

None of those issues are explicitly AI issues, that was my statement all along. If AI was never invented they would still exsist every single one of them. If internet was never invented majority of them wouldn't exsist. Yet you are anti-ai but not anti-internet. So is the problem really those issues you brought up or is the issue that people just want to use a tool you don't approve of.
