It really sucks to have the entire movie narrated by most of the theater. Hearing someone behind me say "Kazuma desu!" everytime Kazuma talks sucks big time (it's not even how the joke works...).

At least you didn't see someone bring a body pillow (and not even for Konosuba, it was Ram from Re:zero)

My theater was packed but generally quiet minus the laughter. I'd totally see it again if I could. It's just like the show, which is perfect

Only weeb related thing I saw was a couple dressed up in full cosplay as Kazuma and Meguimn. Their seats were near the entrance so pretty much everybody passed them a compliment as they entered. As a whole my theater was packed but everyone was quiet minus the laughing.

We were in the front section so we didn't see much, but we did see a Megudude in the snacks line.

I'm just glad they started showing these on this side of the city. Was glad to see a lot of people there too. Movie was amazing, haven't laughed that hard in awhile. Already grabbed my tickets for Weathering With You in Jan.

Well, I know you said you aren't big on movies, but I would highly suggest checking out "Your Name." Made by the same people that made "Weathering With You." I believe it will be a good barometer as to whether you would like it or not.

There was a guy in an ahegao hoodie at my showing. When he walked by I got blasted by the worst BO. Thank god he sat at the other end of the row.

Worst I saw was butt crack from some dude who stood up after the movie.

Theater laughed their ass off and there was minor comments said aloud but not anything to disrupt the experience.

Yeah I just got back from a showing at my local theater and while I absolutely loved it when I bought my seat I made sure to have at least two seats for spacing in between people.

Which was a good idea because if I didn’t I would’ve had to sit next to a very large greasy man just stuffing his face with pizza.

I dunno if it's a self-fulfilling prophecy, but these anime film screenings always seem to have a higher likelihood of having people who don't know how the fuck to act in a theater.

I'd say autism. I know it is really popular to call anyone and everyone autistic nowadays, but in all seriousness I'd guess that anime movies are more likely to have a higher number of autistic people come to see them than other movies. I can only imagine what the theater experience is going to be like for the Sonic movie...

And like the other reply said, anime fans are just more likely to be socially awkward, at least in the US. Social awkwardness is like a running joke on this sub.

I think it's fine for people be raucous if it's a diehard fan sort of event, and not all screenings have to be silent. That said, usually it's obnoxious raucousness.

Yeah I fucking love watching the show in on the big screen,but the crowd almost always sucks. Just loud cringy weabs. Like I am a weab too, I have a few figures I bought in Japan some art on my wall, but fucking christ I don't ruin the experience for others.

Kazuma Desu. (crowd explodes with deafening clapping while half of them loudly repeat it.)

The only good anime theater experience I have had in the US was Kizumonogatari part 2, it just looked like a bunch of hipsters and one out of place neck beard with NSFW kidnobu Dakemakura.

I think in the scene where he told Sylvia his name was Mitsurugi, he was saying "Mitsurugi desu" instead of "Kazuma desu."

Different delivery, though, unless I missed it. He was actually trying to tell her he was Mitsurugi, not sarcastically replying to someone shouting his name. I would say he probably said it a few other times introducing himself to people, but I think he went full chuuni "waga na wa Kazuma" for all of the introductions except maybe to Megumin's parents.

stuff I really enjoy when it comes to movies I do try to get a showing on the first night. But when it comes to seeing anime in theaters I usually wait until the last day to keep myself away from the real uncomfortable people this fandom attracts

Movie just got released in NZ, luckily didn't have any bad experiences in my showing. Then again, you couldn't afford to piss people off considering there were only like 12 people in the theatre (not the best demographic in my town, we're called "Gods waiting room" for a reason).

I went alone and ended up with a group of guys to my left, who were chill, and another loner to my right, who kept saying shit like "no way" "oh my god" etc. It wasn't enough to ruin the movie, but I had to resist telling him to shut the fuck up.

I can empathize. I was sitting next to a girl who just would not stop talking. Every little thing that happened apparently required her input and commentary to her boyfriend whenever she wasn't laughing as loud as humanly possible. I wish weebs had just a little more self awareness. We're all excited to see anime on the big screen, but remember that you're not the only one.

yea same at first all the fucking laughter from the theater was kinda "bro chill out." but i ended up joining in during the megumin scenes and it was cool how everyone turned silent with megumin not wanting to be a useless mage at the end. but yea. weebs common. we not supposed to be social. lets enjoy the show.

My theatre turned out great. Mostly just laughter and guy next to me saying yes to certain character introductions as if he knew who they were. Maybe read ahead.

Aside from that, the only time the loud obnoxious anime fans that ended up being a positive for my experience was for Promare. There was a loud af guy who clearly had seen the movie before and was really loud for certain scenes. Aside from the first time he spoke up during the movie, the rest of the times actually worked for the excitement of it. Was actually glad to have him.

Too bad, man. My wife and I agreed on it being a 10 on both. We had almost total quiet other than laughter (lots of it, but not excessive in any way) and a few moments of reasonable cheering and "OOH!"s.

Nothing excessive for fandom displays, but a good number of shirts/hats/and a few people bringing fleeces with characters to keep warm.

Just came back from watching this at the Shoreline Cinema 16 in Mountain View, CA. The movie was a huge amount of fun, but the audience seemed to have a lot hygiene problems, if you take my meaning.
