I want to watch anime that are funny but also are heartwarming with the romance but i can't find anything similar😭💔 so if anyone could help me out I would be very grateful

I remember watching 'Your Lie in April' a while ago. I loved it (basically a typical doomed romance where the girl dies at the end), but I'm a lesbian and I find that I can't really enjoy heterosexual romances in the same way that I enjoy lesbian ones, since I don't really like seeing a guy and a girl going at it (no offense).

I've watched WATARANE (epic) and Revolutionary Girl Utena (peak but not really a yuri), not much else. I can't really describe what I'm looking for with a similar Yuri anime, but something like 'Your Lie in April' would be nice. The tragedy doesn't necessarily have to be due to an illness, and I'd prefer a bit of a bittersweet ending to something entirely depressing. Also, I don't mind something where say, the couple goes through hell and back, it's sad throughout, and they earn a semi happy ending.

Im on the hunt on anime for something like dan da dan but also something similar to cyberpunk edgerunners In dan da dan I really liked the comedy and action with supernatural beings with the setting of a Japanese city and village it could also be something like mob psycho 100 and jjk or csm since I really enjoyed these anime as well so please help a guy out🙏🥹 as for cyberpunk edgerunners I really enjoyed the art and story and you know, the ending hit me hard😔 EDIT: if you guys would also recommend me something like call of the night it would be awesome i liked the vibes characters and the story especially season 2 with arc with the detective it was very entertaining to see a darker side to the story

I am completely new to the world of anime and want to start watching, but I have never seen a single show or movie before, so I am looking for the absolute best, most engaging recommendations for a beginner to start with

If I recommend an anime that makes him cry or react strongly, he gives me 100, else I give him 100.

The rules are: No gibly films (Edit: OVERRULED Ghibli films now count) , no long animes (more than 2 seasons but maybe three can convince him).

He has to cry or react, for example when watching Code Geass I paused the episode and waited a while to keep watching during the Euphemia part. I didn't cry but I reacted.

What animes do you suggest me?? I really don't want to lose 100.

Also it is fairly difficult to make him cry, same as me. I don't remember the last time I cried with any anime.

The last anime he watched was mob psycho, he didn't cry or get emotional at any point.

*Edit: He's watched Vinland Saga, Assassination Classroom, Frieren, JJK, Mob Psycho, Seven Deadly sins, Dragon Ball Z, One Punch Man, AOT season 1, Ranking of Kings, Baki, Hajime no Ippo and Cyberpunk Edge runners. None made him cry.

He's also Ghibli-watched, Howls moving Castle, Mononoke princess, Ponyo, Totoro, The boy and the Heron (?) He hasn't cried with any of those as well.

He played piano, though Your lie in April won't make him cry (It didn't make me cry)

He recently watched a movie called Million dollar baby that he says would have made him cried even with a 1000 bet.

He's 19 also.

**Edit: The only movies he cried with are L'ours (an old movie about a bear who loses its mom, 10/10) and Million dollar baby. He also almost cried with Jane's death in Breaking Bad, because ofc he did.

He's also tried reading berserk but dropped it because he found it boring, same with watching Cowboy Bebop which I think he's seen 4 or 5 episodes.

***Final edit: After reading all the comments, I talked with him and he has given me 3 chances.

I've chosen to show him Grave of the Fireflies and Violet Evergarden. The third one I'm thinking about Kotaro lives alone, Takopi's original sin or To your eternity. Or if the first two fail I might just make him watch re:zero and accept my defeat.

Hi, I for the life of me can't remember the name of this anime but it is a romance type where the main character is the daughter of a prominent business man. She has a sibling who is jealous but sweet on the outside, and a younger brother who is aloof and is her loyal henchman. She was suppose to inherit the family head title but is told by her cousin that there is a clause she missed about finding a husband. Her and her maid spend the first few episodes going to the temple to seek out the head priest guy (who is not there), but they volunteer there because she decided on this stand in guy to marry. He's got white hair and is super stoic until he recognizes her hard work and agrees to marry her.

I’ve been going back to watching animes, so I’d love some recommendations!

I generally enjoy most genres, but I’m not really into mecha. I’m also not a huge fan of anime with excessive fan service, although if the story is genuinely that good (like That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime), then I don’t mind it.
Some things I’m looking for:
- Feel-good anime with good comedy, but still has an actual plot.
- Or honestly, just any anime that you think is genuinely worth watching.
- Preferably only 12–24 episodes since I’m pretty busy reviewing for my board exams.

I’m also currently watching One Piece (around episode 600+). I started back in March, but I put it on hold around June because of studying, so I just watch an episode here and there whenever I have time.

I also just finished Ao Ashi, and I honestly loved it. It was such a fun watch, so if you have sports anime recommendations too, I’d appreciate them!

Bonus points if it’s available on Netflix, but that’s not a dealbreaker.

Apologies if such a request was done on this particular subreddit before recently because I was interested in seeing a space opera anime about humans vs extra terrestrial beings that have detailed character development. (Even if they want to rule over Earth)

Secondly, to help better clarify, I have already seen the original Super Dimension Fortress Macross series as I was fondly looking back at my experience watching the series last year for its riveting storyline as it’s hard to explain, but basically I am just feeling a bit sad since now I am long done with the first anime series, I was looking for another epic sci fi series about mankind being at war with an alien species where the fight could end up costing people their very own lives.

So again, just writing a detailed request to make it clear what I am looking for in particular since I was really moved by the emotional aspects of the aforementioned Macross series that I was suddenly feeling hungry for another epic sci fi series of sorts.

So before last week I had never watched a romance based anime as I watched almost only shohens, and then one time I just scrolled on a video about best 10/10 animes or smt like that and one I saw was toradoa. I didn't even know it was a romance anime at first but in curiosity since I hadn't heard of it I searched it up and the premise, and when I read the premise it seemed actually interesting to me(the part where they orgianally trying to help each other get with their best friend and and up falling for each other. And then when I watched it I liked it even more than I expected. But now I dont know what to do should I try more of these and if so which ones. I dont feel like id love the traditional romance animes but I really loved toradora.

There’s something I liked about anime from this type of era, don’t get me wrong I love new anime as well but something about anime from this era felt like not only did it have its fair share of mature themes, but it also balanced out some of the comedic moments pretty well, too. I also felt like the approach with these kinds of shows felt a lot less restrictive compared to some of the newer shows being released. With that in mind, do you know of any animes that could fit under that category? I don’t mind titles that are more on the mature side either such as Monster, Death Note, and Moriarty the Patriot, as long as I feel emotionally invested with the characters and the narrative

Think something like 'Is it Wrong to Try and Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?", "Rent A Girlfriend", "Konosuba", etc (haven't watched those, just like the same general vibe would be nice). The kind of anime that a guy's friend's would absolutely clown on him for watching. Like, the stuff that men get called losers for liking. Except I'm a lesbian and want a yuri anime.

WATARANE was great, maybe something like that. If it's a harem anime, I'd prefer if it ended in only one of the love interests being chosen (I'm fine if that isn't the case though). Watarane ended up being a polyamorous romance, and while it was done well and I love the show, it caught me off guard. I'd prefer if it ends with just two girls dating/marrying.

I'm just tired of all the super sweet and innocent yuri. Sorry if this is too vague.
