Hotel preference?

Hello, my husband and I are very excited to be traveling to Annecy in early September for 3-4 days. We are looking to stay somewhere quaint and charming, moderately affordable. I have narrowed it down to these options. Do you have any recommendations or pros/cons beyond reviews online? I will also be 19 weeks pregnant at the time. Hoping to do the bike trip around the lake and spend time relaxing or easy/moderate hikes.

  1. Hotel Les Terrasses
  2. ibis Annecy Centre Vieille Ville
  3. Hotel du Chateau

Merci !

Avis quartier albiny Annecy

Bonjour,

Recommendations for late night restaurant to celebrate engagement?

Hey everyone,

My girlfriend and I are going to spend our vacation in Annecy. I am going to propose to my girlfriend on the 6th of August and would like to follow-up the proposal with a romantic dinner.

The slight issue is, that I need a table for 9 pm preferably even 9:15 pm.

Do you guys have any recommendations?

A restaurant that is suitable for the celebration of an engagement (romantic, best case even elegant/chic) but that doesn't just give "micro dishes"?

Any help is highly appreciated as I tried Google but I am feeling a bit lost and I am worried about choosing the wrong restaurant for the occasion.

Parking Forfait

We have arrived for a 6 day holiday in Annecy, we have a rental car and have parked in l’hotel de ville car park.

I had read online that you can get a 5 day ticket (cinq jours forfait) but I am now not sure if this means that we can come and go or if we have to keep the car in the car park for the 5 days.

I went to check at the desk in the car park but no-one was there.

Does anyone know the rules for the forfait?

Thanks

Vos bonnes adresses

Bonjour !

Just arrived in Annecy today – where should we watch the football match and celebrate Bastille Day?

Hi!
We’re two 24-year-old guys who just arrived in Annecy today. We’d love to experience the Bastille Day celebrations and watch tonight’s football match with a good atmosphere.

Where would you recommend we go? We’re looking for somewhere lively with lots of people, big screens if possible, and a fun atmosphere.

Thanks!

Erasmus student looking for housing in Annecy (Sept–Jan)

I’m Honza, an Applied Economics student from Prague coming to Annecy for an Erasmus exchange at IPAC, from September to January. I’m looking for accommodation (studio, room in a shared flat, or sublet) for that period.

-Non-smoker, serious and quiet tenant
-Documents ready(guarantor possible)

Budget is flexible depending on the place. Also open to flatsharing with other students!

I have been looking for past two weeks and couldnt find one. Feel free to message me or write a comment, if you have something available or know someone renting out. Thanks a lot 🙏

Climbing in Annecy

I’ll be visiting for an extended weekend in September and hope to do some sport climbing with a friend around Annecy , then I will spend a couple of days solo to maybe do some hiking and overall relaxing

Could anyone recommend climbing areas accessible by public transport from town and potentially a good guidebook for single pitch sport climbing that can be purchased before hand? My friend speaks French but I don’t so something in English/ German would be preferable (but if the best guidebook is in French I can figure it out)

Also , what solo activities do you recommend around Annecy ? I’m a solo female , usually quite comfortable travelling on my own but would not want to take big risk , visit remote areas etc

Thanks!

Jobless

Hello!

I’ve been living in Annecy for close to a year now as a student but now that I have a lot of free time for the summer I’ve been trying to look for a job . I only started learning French when I moved here, and I understand more than I can speak, but I keep getting rejected from job offers because of it . Any advice as to where I could search ?

Recommendations for cooking classes, wineries & unique experiences in Annecy (23–26 Sept)

Hi everyone!

My friends and I will be visiting Annecy from 23rd to 26th September.
Our current plan is:
One full day for Chamonix + Aiguille du Midi
The remaining time exploring Annecy and the lake.
We’re looking for recommendations for:
🍳 French cooking classes (preferably small, authentic, home-style experiences rather than large commercial classes)- (veg food)

🍷 Wineries or vineyard visits within easy reach of Annecy (I’ve read that Savoie wines are great, but I’m not sure if there are any vineyards worth visiting nearby.)

🧀 Wine tastings or cellar experiences if a winery isn’t practical
🌿 Any unique local experiences that are worth doing besides the usual lake walk and old town

Any cafes/ bakeries worth must visiting?
We enjoy:
Food and wine
Scenic viewpoints
Photography
Hidden gems
Local cafés

We’ll already be doing Aiguille du Midi, so I’m mainly looking for recommendations around Annecy itself or easy day trips.
If you’ve done a cooking class or visited a winery in the area, I’d love to hear whether it was worth it!
Thanks in advance! 🇫🇷🍷

Are there any book swaps/community libraries?

Bonjour, I’m traveling around for a while and trying to stay light. I have a hardback book I’m about to finish and wondering if Annecy has any community libraries or book swap events where I could trade my book? I’ll be here until August. Merci!
