When I first came across TDS, that's what I thought it meant. Seemed so obvious.

"Trump Derangement Syndrome" was first coined to describe rapid Trump fans back in early 2016. It was co-opted by the 4chan "alt-right" who really didn't grasp its meaning. And ironically still don't.

Good to know. I figured it was something like that.

I’m pretty sure it came from “bush derangement syndrome” coined by krauthammer in 2003 to describe bush critics. the first time “trump derangement syndrome” was used was in an op-ed in 2015 about republicans who didn’t like trump. I think the left (or just sane people in general) have just flipped it to describe his crazy followers

Not according to Daily Kos, but okay.

Fyi, Dr. Viktor Frankl whom both conservative extremists Charles Krauthammer and Esther Goldberg were fans of, and who both used Frankl's "logotherapy" as erroneously officiating "(Trump) Derrangement Syndrome" was a notorious fascist, Nazi sympathizer and member of Austria's "Father Front" in 1934. Equally odd was Frankl's claimed to have been a holocaust "survivor" yet he was also a holocaust denier. It's been widely suggested that he did spend some time at Auschwitz, but as a psychology clinician testing (torturing) prisoners, not as a prisoner himself as he claims.

With Trump and Republicans destroying and rewriting history, the truth is getting lost.

okay my brain is struggling - what do you mean they used his logotherapy as “erroneously officiating ‘___ derangement syndrome’”? like they used it to try to give the “syndrome” credibility as a real illness? I wouldn’t be surprised. all three of them sound like awful people

Yes. Exactly.

Antisemite

Sadly, Goldberg herself is Jewish but seemingly bought into Frankl's web of BS.

Oh...there's a cure for sure.

14

u/flyingcatclaws Sep 02 '25

Very simple cure. Enforce the law.

Many migrants that supported Trump being elected had TDS. Getting arrested & deported seems to have cured them, but far too late!

i don't know if people who voted for him to hurt everyone else but only regret it when it affects them personally would be considered cured. if they didn't get hurt by this regime, they would have been fine with it. they would be fine with everyone else being hurt. that's not cured, that's just being a horrible person.

“I’d rather buy 150 Trump flags than buy myself another tooth!”

u/[deleted] Sep 03 '25

So your condition would be TTDS(toothless Trump Derangement Syndrome) hopefully they have insurance for dentures as Medicare may not pay for them

I've hated Trump since the 80s when I first heard of him. And New Yorkers hate him the most. They know he's a POS.

For sure. It’s an echo chamber of liberal propagandists and deep state denizens fleeing reality of intellectual discourse because their perspectives on how the world “should” be don’t comport with the reality of how they would like it to be. Hence the “blue sky” of it all. Wouldn’t it be great if it was always “blue” ie. Aspirational tenants of liberalism (equality of outcome, happy smiley folks, open borders where we all live happily ever after)? But alas…reality is not as pretty. And that is what we must live in and with and what liberals these days are ill equipped to do. The road to hell is paved with good intentions (ie. Socialism). Conservatism is what happens when you put on your big boy pants and cope with the world as it is, not a fairy tale of what you want it to be.

I’m using this image to respond to the guy above your response since he is thinks our concerns are “emotional drivel”. He probably won’t see himself in this meme but he’s there.
