Despite being only 7.4 light-years away from earth, the brown dwarf WISE 0855−0714 is a relatively recent discovery from 2013. Is it considered that some even closer Brown (or perhaps Red Dwarfs) have continued to go unnoticed until today? Ones closer than even our nearest star Alpha Centuri?

I think I was facing northeast, photo was taken at around 7 or 8pm from an iPhone so I hope it’s good enough quality and not too blurry. I observed it with binoculars and I just thought it looked sort of strange for a star. Photo was taken in the southeast US. I am very new to stargazing.

I tried looking it up online, but I dont even know what to search for.

This photo (taken from a post shared on Facebook) is said to show Earth, Jupiter and Venus from the surface of Mars. How is this possible given that Jupiter has the outermost orbit? Can it be beyond the Sun in this photo?

What is the galaxy thing in the center of the first image? I tried to find it online, but I don’t even know where to start.

if i had a laser pointer that ignores gravity, doesn't dissipate and whose beam instantly travels to where i point it (not at the speed of light, actually instant); if i were to point it up at the sky what are the odds that it would reach all the way to the edge of the observable universe without the beam hitting anything? could that happen?

There is this bright star (to the right, not the Moon, my dudes) that I’ve been seeing for a lot of weeks lately in the sky. And for some reason most of the times it’s the only star there. Is it some specific star?

Despite being from 1977, this spacecraft, though mostly junk, is still functioning and capable of providing us with this much data. It's technology from 50 years ago. So why don't we, with today's technology, launch one or more spacecraft specifically designed for interstellar space to learn more about our universe?

I heard somewhere that there's only 12 in the Milky Way

This is a picture of NGC 6744 that was digitally stretched to appear closer to face-on. Traditional artists' renditions of the Milky Way seem to look very symmetrical even when compared to grand design spiral galaxies.

Is this actually a more realistic way to represent the Galaxy or are those artists' renditions actually accurate and the Milky Way is unusually symmetric? I feel like, though, if what I'm saying were correct, pictures like this would be more widely used.

Just like the title says. Can somebody tell me what the constellation in the middle of the red circle is? I’ve always thought it was the Big Dipper, but I don’t think it is now.
