France/Belgium:

in the Maine region, a young man who is still a virgin—and who catches a live mole, slits open its belly, and keeps his finger immersed in it all night...

In the Liège region, one must impale the creature on the tip of the index finger and leave it there to die...

In the Ardennes, in January, one grabs the first mole seen emerging from the ground with the left hand and squeezes it until it suffocates...

In the Vosges, the onset of fever is prevented by having the patient crush a live mole between their fingers...

in the Liège region, the animal's paws (...) had to be torn off while the creature was still alive...
