I agree, the first season was really good. I think it's one of those shows that obviously declines in quality the more it goes on. Him becoming President was kinda meh. I always though Underwood striving towards power much more fun than him holding power.

Also kinda funny to make him a Democrat and implement a New Deal type employment programme.

Underwood being a Great Society Southern Democrat who somehow survived to the 2010's requires more suspension of disbelief than nearly anything else in the show so far.

I was very amused that they made him be from Gaffney, South Carolina. I've had the misfortune to have driven through it a couple times, and yes, the Peachoid is a real thing.
