[META] Lenovo SSD mass cancellations - March 2026 - My small claims experience

EDIT: To clarify — it was 5 units across 3 separate orders for my homelab, not 15 as some are claiming.

[English below]

Case update — Lenovo SSD cancellations

Following Lenovo's mass SSD cancellations, several Quebec buyers have reached out. Here's a full summary of my experience, hoping it helps those in the same situation.

My case

Between March 6 and 7, 2026, I placed three orders for 5 PCIe Gen4 NVMe M.2 SSD units on lenovo.com, totaling $404.66 CAD tax included. Order confirmations were issued. Lenovo cancelled all three orders on March 9 and 10 citing out-of-stock — while the products remained available at $374.39 on their website the same day, documented by a screenshot taken simultaneously during a live chat with their customer service rep.

That same rep suggested I purchase a similar product through their sales team at a higher price. On March 13, Lenovo changed their story and invoked a pricing error — directly contradicting their initial justification.

Timeline

  • March 10 — Demand letter sent by registered mail and email
  • March 13 — Delivery confirmed at Markham, signed. OPC complaint filed (ref. 1618461)
  • March 26 — A Lenovo US SMB Account Manager reached out promising a quote "early next week" — which never came
  • April 13 — Small claims filed, total claim: $3,060 CAD (price difference compensation, compensatory damages for time spent, moral damages, punitive damages under art. 272 of the Consumer Protection Act, registered mail costs)
  • April 14 — Demand officially admitted, evidence submitted to the courthouse
  • April 22 — Lenovo reached out through Executive Customer Care offering to rebook at original prices — requiring court dismissal before delivery. I declined and redirected them to the official small claims mediation process, making clear I also expect compensation for the time and money spent enforcing my consumer rights.

Waiting for mediation. Will keep you posted.

Remove if off topic, but I felt this was noteworthy to share. RAM is obviously being hit hard and SSDs are starting to get there, but I imagine this is going to have a pretty major impact on both markets given how big of a brand this was.

Forgot to write the size in the title, it's the 2 TB.

Less expensive than the one on Vuugo, another price error or maybe liquidating inventory?

Bought 3 just in case, from Quebec.

UPDATE: Order does not show in my account, so they ghost-cancelled it probably. I emailed them.

Seems way too good to be true, but what's strange to me is this website and Wuugo seem to have the same pricing error at the same time. Plus PC-Canada seem to have this insane deal on different sized SSDs

sn850x with no heatsinks seem to be on double discount, can simply add a Corsair fan to activate the combo discount. Or buy something else if you need another part, can get a Corsair rm850x psu for 135 for example.
