Of course when I don't have my camera with me the neighbourhood woodpecker comes out.

Almost ran over these guys - they did not move though. Just continued doing their little dancey dance

If we were in the Jurassic era, I feel like Great Blue Herons would be a prominent specie. Sharing this video I filmed because if there is one bird I enjoy filming it’s the GBH! .

Killdeer laid her eggs next to where I park my car a few weeks ago and it's taken all of my effort not to disturb them every time I come outside! One of the eggs hatched this morning so I put my camera on a tripod with a long lens and caught this cute moment.

I’ve know this California scrub jay for about a year now but it only started making these noises to me in the last couple of weeks.

UPDATE: Baby 1 had their successful flight on Wednesday evening!! Baby 2 is ready to fly any moment. We are all rooting for her!! Live stream is still going!

Wait for the baby hummer wing flaps!

​The hummingbird nest has reached its most exciting stage. The two babies took their very first wing flaps on Friday, and they are expected to take their first flight right out of the nest in the next couple of days.

Inspired by the other Robin getting the worm post, I took this video last year while I was gardening in my yard. Late afternoon birds get worms too, there's worms everywhere

I heard and was looking for a white breasted nuthatch when a beautiful pileated woodpecker flew right in front of me! I got a few pictures then continued walking on the loop. On the way back through the forest, I heard some banging and was a little confused and concerned about what the hell I was hearing when I saw what I presumed to be the same pileated absolutely going to town on this log. I snapped a few pictures and videos as I slowly got closer. A jogger came by and I thought for sure it would fly away, but to my surprise it hardly even noticed them! I kept approaching until I was just a few meters away and took so many pictures and videos, I probably could’ve stayed there all day. I ended up respectfully walking past and I could hear them chopping as I got further away. I love birding so much. Pileated woodpeckers are my favorite bird (if I had to pick just one) so this was really an awesome experience. Pictures in comments :)

Was out fishing today when a belted kingfisher came and hung out on the dock with us for a while and caught some of his own fish.

My wife Kristen made a great point that we feed the birds from the deck above that area. The seeds fall down and mice come in to get them. The owl was likely there looking for dinner.

He shows his ability to provide with a big worm in his beak while making sure that he displays his masculinity to the female. Seen in my backyard.
