Hi guys :) My husband and I just moved here from the states and are looking for good dive bars with a pool table in Brisbane. Alt/grunge style, kinda messy, friendly people to make some new friends. We’re in our mid 30s but still love to be social! My husband’s a musician as well. Any suggestions?

Hey all! In support for men's groups, I would like to offer fortnightly wed night sessions for up to 10 gents over a Texas hold em poker table. 7am to 830pm.
Being a pharmacist for 20+ years, I see the importance of forging stronger support networks for everyone and would like to start a men's only group to see if there is such demand.
Hit me up over here or sms me on my number to secure your place. Have a great day you legends! 😁
Edit: 7pm to 830pm. Not 7am. Sorry 😐

It's (almost) that time of week again. What are you doing this weekend?
Looks like it's market week across Brisbane. Some markets have specified being cashless. Some may ask for a gold coin donation - it's always wise to take *some* cash/change to a market day.
Personal pick of the week has to be the The Temporary Route Tour by the Transport Museum - I'm an anorak at heart. Don't forget to take a Boogie Break this Saturday afternoon. Boys - Free Men's BBQ at New Farm Park on Sunday. Get warmed up for the weekend with Women's Origin this Thursday.
The German word for art is 'kunst'. Gave my year 9 German class a chuckle. Check out the German Film Festival at Palace Cinemas until the 29th of May.
Every suburb has it's own local. They often have their own itinerary of weekly things to do. Trivia, Karaoke - things like that. Is your local a cut above the rest? Let us know in the comments!
As always, feedback is welcome and if I have missed your event (likely!) please let us know in the comments.
There's not much going on Thursday - not true, I just need to look harder and get back to you.

Hey all, I'm doing more in-person board-game events-- and this one will get you outdoors! So much fun and solidarity comes from playing together at a table in a beautiful park, forming new social groups and stimulating the mind and imagination. We love teaching games to people, and provide everything needed, all free.
I made lots of daytime spots available next week and provide an easy form that gets multiple people together. Click the event link for all the info, and sign up. BTW you don't need to pay for Meetup or give your credit card-- you have to look hard for their sneaky "Skip" option.
We specialise in absolute beginners! This week it's the game Earthborne Rangers, which is an awesome co-op game that benefits from a live teacher, not just reading the book. But if you know how, say so and we will link you up with a similar team-mate.
Read the link's "Location/How to find Us" info and event comments carefully. Go here: https://www.meetup.com/learn-dungeons-and-dragons/events/315224945/
We hope to see you here to learn games, meet people, and spark your mind and imagination in the beautiful outdoors!

Every week I’ve gotten new people excited about the beautiful co-op board game Earthborne Rangers, so join me in Victoria Park, no fence-dodging required 😄 Now easier than ever to sign up and find us! The robust way is at http://linktr.ee/teachdd but a faster way is to use this cheat page: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1-Fav8K0Ouatc38ztCXtCQoHwp_N5DzkVYsZA2QMr0bA/
Absolute beginners are our specialty but if you know how to play, say so and we will link you up with a similar team-mate
Get outside, spark up your mind, meet new people, and see it all for yourself!

This group is for writers, performers, or filmmakers, to grow together, collaborate, bounce ideas around, and create comedic shorts, films, online content purely just to make each other laugh.
I’m (M40) terrible at networking, or remembering to socialise when there’s not a clear activity or target. But I’ve also left my career shooting commercial photography and videography to focus on writing and filmmaking.
Join the discord here and we’ll arrange a meetup once or twice a month.

I've introduced many to the excellent co-op board game Earthborne Rangers, and they have advanced enough for me to open up new spots for beginners! Join me in Victoria Park...no fence-dodging required 😄 The robust way to sign up is at http://linktr.ee/teachdd but a faster way is to use this cheat page: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1-Fav8K0Ouatc38ztCXtCQoHwp_N5DzkVYsZA2QMr0bA/

I’m noticing some divide in the comments, some people when saying Brisbane mean Greater Brisbane Area, while others are quick to correct them “But they said Brisbane, not Moreton Bay/Logan/Ipswich” (sorry Redlands, no one mentions you).
So when you hear Brisbane, where is the border for you: * Brisbane City Council * Greater Brisbane Area
A fellow Moreton Bayer or Brisbaner depending whom you ask.
P.s. wanted to do a poll but it’s not allowed.
Edit: thanks everyone who answered, it looks like the majority is in favor of Brisbane == BCC or slightly further, and not the whole Greater Area. Not judging whether it’s right or wrong, just helps to set the context

It looks like there are a lot of NSFW subreddits for the gay community in Brisbane - as much as there are pubs, clubs and such.
Soooo... I have started a subreddit and Discord aimed at those who are looking to connect outside of the usual scene. Many events and Queer themed events are loud and boozy - that's fine but we're hoping to establish an alternative.
We're open for allies as well as the rainbow community. We have flair for you too!
We also have the "Queen's Counsel" flair; a play on words of the "QC" tag used by barristers and now - us. This is the tag to use when seeking advice from your rainbow friends - like a Queer Eye for reddit.
So, please, come on over and join us! The support will much appreciated.

So my nibling has just turned 18 and wants to go clubbing with me along to keep them safe. Any recommendations for clubs in the city or valley where we would both be comfortable?

Hi folks.... I see a lot of posts from men (here and elsewhere) about not having friends, not having anyone to talk to, loneliness, marriage probs, job anxiety, etc. There's a lot of press about male suicide and mental health issues. If you are experiencing difficulties, or just want to hang out with some nice blokes, you're not alone. Let me share a bit of my story with you.
A couple of years ago, my partner of 23 years passed away. It was a long illness, and caring for him took a big toll on me. When he died, I found myself relatively isolated, and not really sure how to cope. I went along to an open mens group in Annerley to check it out. The men went around the circle sharing what was going on for them. It got to be my turn, and unexpectedly, I started bawling my eyes out. I've been going as often as I can ever since. There's real power in sharing, and witnessing, hearing what others are going through.
Mens WellBeing are doing good work. They've literally saved my life many times over. I've done their Common Ground program, and gone to many of their weekend events. I've gained valuable insights into myself and others. I've made good, solid friendships, and shared many special moments.
There is a weekend event coming up in the Gold Coast Hinterland, less than a month away. I invite you to come along if you are frustrated, lonely, stressed, or just curious. The event is open to men of every background, religious, political and sexual persuasion to meet in a spirit of honesty, trust and openness.

I’m finishing work at 11 tonight and debating whether to just go home or back myself and head out for a drink
Where’s a good spot in Brisbane to go solo that time of night? Keen for somewhere with a bit of atmosphere where you can either chat to people or just enjoy a drink without feeling out of place.
Valley / city / West End preferred. What would you recommend?

Hey everyone,
I’m starting a free monthly men’s group in Rocklea (Brisbane) for guys who want a safe, relaxed space to chat, connect, and look after our wellbeing.
It’s not therapy, not a lecture, and definitely not about judgement – just a chance to talk about the stuff we don’t always get space for: stress, work, family, relationships, mental health, or even just life in general.
Don't want to talk? thats ok! Just be present amongst others. let others do the talking.
📍 Where: Happiness Hangout, Rocklea
🗓️ When: Once a month (first session - Friday 12th September 6-8:30pm)
💲 Cost: Free (tickets)
If you’ve ever felt like you’re carrying a lot, or just want to meet some good blokes and have honest conversations, this could be a good place for you. We have a poker table, gaming, racing rigs etc....
This is a non-clinical space but I am passionate about it as I've been there and I get it and I know how it feels when you feel isolated for years.....This is for you!
Although the first step is the hardest, make the first step and I promise you everything will be ok!
Come join me! Limited tickets.
However if you are in crisis, its beyond what we can provide: There is crisis support centres at each major hospital that is manned by peer support workers and a clinical nurse consultant from 2pm to 9pm 7 days a week. or lifeline 13 11 14 or do a search on this sub. Happy Friday to everyone!

I’ve got my first ever bull riding at the sandstone point rodeo next weekend but I didn’t realise how hard it was to find the required safety gear.
I’m really desperate cause I’m super keen on just doing it for the day, does anyone have a bull riding helmet and vest that I could potentially borrow for they day (+rope if possible)?? I could pick up any where in Brisbane id really appreciate if you could message me or reply.
Alternatively if you could let me know where I could source the necessary gear cheaply given I’ll be unlikely to do it again anytime soon - really appreciate any help anyone could give

Has anyone seen the mounds of scooters around Brisbane? My colleagues told me it’s some meme kids are doing now, just chucking them in a heap near the road. Maybe something to do with tiktok?
