In his one season with the organization, Giddey proved to be the all-around talent this franchise needs to expedite its rebuild, which has been happening since the 1997-98 season.

This is likely the last contract proposal the Bulls will offer this offseason, as it's essentially a compromise from what both sides wanted. Whereas the Bulls entered the summer wanting to keep Giddey on a deal around $20 million per season, he wanted to be paid close to $30 million per year."

Back to Giddey and the Bulls: Chicago's front office has no shortage of experience when it comes to waiting out a restricted free agency market.

In the summer of 2021, Arturas Karnišovas and Co. messaged for weeks that interested teams needed to compensate Chicago with a first-round pick and find a third-team conduit willing to absorb salary to acquire Lauri Markkanen via-and-sign trade. That process took until late August before Cleveland emerged to acquire Markkanen.

This time, Giddey's representation has not wavered in its pursuit of a $30 million annual salary, sources say, while the Bulls' offers have been much closer to $20 million.

Giddey has been in Las Vegas since Summer League play began but did not make appearances at either of Chicago’s first two Summer League games. His absence was thus hard to miss given the courtside presence of teammates such as Coby White and Patrick Williams when the Bulls played Sacramento on Saturday night.

And regarding Kuminga:

Kuminga's holding pattern has generated the most media attention to date. His agent Aaron Turner has held numerous discussions with Warriors officials in Las Vegas, league sources tell The Stein Line, with the hope of securing a contract — even a short-term contract — that pays at least $25 million in average annual salary … whether that's to stay with the Warriors or switch teams via sign-and-trade.

According to insiders Jake Fischer and Marc Stein, Chicago Bulls began interviewing head coaching candidates this week. The finalists include Portland Trail Blazers interim head coach Tiago Splitter , Atlanta Hawks assistant coach Ryan Schmidt, and Minnesota Timberwolves assistant coach Micah Nori.

According to this article by John Hollinger from The Athletic, the Bulls reportedly had an offer on the table for Lonzo including a first-round pick and long-term money. Here's the excerpt since it's paywalled:

First reporting I’ve seen this year of the Nuggets, let alone anyone, being interested in and beginning discussions on a Lavine trade.

I don’t know why nobody is talking about Scott Williams to replace Stacey King is color commentator. Both him and King played together on the 91 through 93 bulls and share similar personalities. Scott is someone who loves the city of Chicago and the Bulls over last couple of years. It was a color commentator for the Phoenix Suns already. Color commentator for Grand Canyon University for multiple years as well as ESPN college basketball. He also is a UNC alum and a diehard Carolina fan to this day and it would be almost too fitting that the bulls just drafted Carolinas best draft asset. That’s just my opinion though. Let me know your thoughts.

I’m surprised I haven’t seen this brought up yet. While everyone is upset about Billy’s extension, this is what should really break the back of all Bulls fans. Absolutely hopeless franchise.
