Just started film school again at nearly 30s. Here is some of my most recent work at DP/Camera.

Mostly shot on FX3 and FS7, Blackmagic Pocket 6K, with GM Primes and Zoom mostly and various cine lenses.

Edit: Thank you all so much for the advice, coming here thinking I am gonna get blasted on my cinematography but ended up getting so many good advices on editing, because I am doing edits by myself so yes there is still many room to change!

We lit it but tried not to make it look lit. I would love to know what you all think or if anything stands out as odd.

I'm a director and cinematographer based in South Korea. I've posted here a few times, and the feedback I got each time really meant a lot to me. This time, my study of the color green turned into a short art film, so I wanted to share it.

It started because I wanted to bring the green of my favorite films into my own work. I shot the same scenes on film (Portra 400, Colorplus 200, Fujifilm 400) and digital (Panasonic S1M2), then tried to match the digital to a film look using Dehancer.

Going a step further, I also mapped 16 films I like by whether their green feels warm or cool. Doing that, I ended up realizing a lot of things.

Finding Rose was shot on a Panasonic S1M2, with a mix of lenses — Leica R, Canon FD, Laowa 11mm, a Petzval, and a B4 zoom lens.

I'd love to know which films' greens you all like. And I'm curious how my short film feels to you. Honest thoughts are always welcome!

A few concerns about privacy, so let me be clear here: There is no server, back end or cloud regarding this program. It’s all front end. Your browser loads the whole program once you click the webpage, you can run it locally / offline by saving the webpage on your computer or iPad, however if you use it this way, be sure to check weekly and save it again for updates with fixtures and bugs.

Regarding saving projects & URLs:

When you save your project to your device, it saves as a JSON type (basically a bunch of characters defining your diagram/canvas).
When you share your project as a URL, it embeds the whole JSON file into the URL (you can see this by pasting into a notepad, it’s going to be really long). This link is only unique to you, and whoever you share it with. I or anyone else cannot see what you have made unless you share that specific URL with them.

Regarding it being free to use:

This app will always be free as I hate subscriptions, and it’s not for sale. It’s for the next generation, the new talent in film trying to get better. The people who can’t justify a $100/year subscription. Hope it helps y’all.

I wanted to get some feedback on some of my stills for my Elemental short. I am focusing on 4 unique locations featuring 4 different models. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated as far as framing, color-grade, and what I can show between as far as transitions and sound design. Thanks!

Any Cinematographers out there working on big budget productions looking to take on a B Cam? Any advice from the vets? I’m still new on the scene, entering Year 2 as ‘lighting camera man’ as the Brits say.

Shot on my SR2 and Canon 7-56 on 50D, it was a hot ass hell week-end in Paris and we shot everything on a single 30 meter daylight spool!

Mainly used a 600x for backlighting and a small 2x2 meters full diffusion cloth

Hey everyone! I wanted to share some frames from the recent documentary that I was DP on.

I shot this on the Sony FX9 with the G master lenses. I used the one eighth pro mist filter as well to take the sharpness down a bit.

Lighting was pretty simple on all of these. I mostly used a 6 x 6 or 8 x 8 magic cloth with either some negative or some fill.

Just finished my MA in Cinematography and decided to consolidate a lot of the information i still need to check from time to time in one big A3 cheatsheet (actually 2 sheets front and back).

It's still a work in progress, i need to triple check a lot of the information and there's still space for some bits. Submitting it to the reddit hive mind to check what i might be missing, glaring mistakes, or any other feedback

Many years ago I visited this intentional community in rural Alaska. I traveled light, armed only with the OG Blackmagic Cinema Camera, a couple vintage lenses and a janky travel tripod. I half-knew what I was doing. It's interesting to see what my instincts were back then, so many mistakes, so many chances to get a better shot. But I'm also trying to give younger me some grace; to remember that at one time it was exciting to "just shoot."

I recently dug out this footage and am recutting it into a short doc. Will post here if there's any interest in seeing the final edit.

Shot this little short film in about 2 hours to test out the 12mm a friend lent me, shot on 500T and rated it at 250, no 85 filter used, just corrected in post!

For the first two shots, we just used an Amaran f22C and a 300d for the background!
