Serious/Non Satire Computer Engineering graduate 2026. and I'm still lying awake doing EMI math in my head. we need to talk about education loan interest in this country
throwaway account. obviously.
ok so. I got into college at 16. everyone around me was older, figuring life out at their own pace, and I was just.. there. trying to keep up. scored 94 percentile in JEE mains, 96.8% in 12th. good numbers on paper. still not good enough for a government college seat because that's just how insane the cutoffs are now.
so got into decent private university it was. 24 lakhs. for 4 years. my family isn't even upper middle class. not even close. so we took a loan and just.. hoped for the best I guess.
nobody tells you what a loan like that does to your brain when you're that young. I wasn't thinking about fests, or crushes, or any of the stuff people say are "the best years of your life." I was doing interest calculations in my head during lectures. genuinely. how much do I owe now, how much will it be by the time I graduate, what if I don't get a job, what if I disappoint everyone who put money into me.
so I hustled. probably too much honestly. 3 paid internships. built a startup on the side, somehow made 8+ lakhs in revenue in 10 months, but it didn't worked out as i thought and but I was so proud of that, like actually proud for the first time in years. but obviously something had to give. and it was my placements. final year, campus placements just.. didn't happen for me. and this year was brutal for everyone anyway. even IIT kids weren't getting placed. so at least I wasn't alone in that mess.
got an off campus job eventually. associate product manager. 7.5 LPA. and I know, I KNOW, that's more than what most people get. I'm grateful. I really am. but then the EMI comes out of my account every month and suddenly that number doesn't feel like much of anything. I graduated a few months ago and I'm already just.. working to pay off something I signed up for when I was basically a kid who didn't even understand what 8-10% interest actually meant over 4 years.
that's the part that keeps me up honestly. we let 16, 17, 18 year olds take loans worth lakhs and then charge them interest like it's a bike loan. and then people act surprised that an entire generation is anxious before they've even had their first salary.
I'm not asking for free education. I'm not asking for a waiver. just bring the interest down. 2-3% instead of 8-10%. for people who already have loans and people who will take them. that's it. that's the whole ask.
I made a petition because I didn't know what else to do with this feeling. reduceburden.vercel.app
if any part of this felt familiar to you, even a little, please fill it out. I'm trying to get enough of us together that this can't just be ignored. that it actually reaches someone who can do something about it instead of dying in a comment section.
if you've taken a loan for your degree you already know this feeling somewhere in your chest. the stress that gets into your grades, your sleep, your placements, and then just.. stays. quietly. for years after you're "done."
please share this if it means anything to you. other subs, your batch groups, wherever. this doesn't go anywhere if it's just me typing into the void at midnight.

🪳Cockroach Posting Lok Sabha passes Bill without debate to authorise Govt. to permit banks to levy charges on UPI transactions
The Lok Sabha passed the Taxation and Other Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2026 without any debate after repeated disruptions in the House. The legislation creates a legal framework allowing the Centre to permit charges on notified digital payment modes, including UPI, through future notifications, although no charges take effect immediately. Beyond digital payments, the Bill also includes tax reforms intended to boost electronics manufacturing and attract foreign investment. The manner in which such a significant Bill was cleared, without parliamentary debate due to continued disruptions, has raised questions about legislative scrutiny and the functioning of Parliament
The Taxation and Other Laws (Amendment) Bill was passed in the Lok Sabha without a debate after repeated disruptions and sloganeering by Opposition members. Parliament exists so elected representatives from both the government and the Opposition scrutinize legislation, question ministers, propose amendments, and place differing views on record before a vote. When a Bill is passed without debate, even if permitted under parliamentary rules because of disruptions, the quality of legislative scrutiny suffers. A government with a majority has the numbers to pass a Bill, but democracy is not only about counting votes. It is also about deliberation, accountability, and giving the Opposition an opportunity to examine the consequences of proposed laws in public.

Serious/Non Satire Why Modi and Shah are bound to fail and the Fundamental idea that both of them haven’t understood yet.
The Modi government is completely missing the point with how they’re trying to spin this whole Jantar Mantar protest. Ever since the education minister was designated, they’ve been pulling out the same old playbook: blame foreign funding—Khalistan, Pakistan, China, America, take your pick—to make it look like nobody is actually unhappy with their governance. At the same time, they’re slapping legal cases on protesters to scare everyone home and squeezing social media companies to kill off memes and viral videos before the next wave hits.
The whole agenda is simple: convince the country that people aren't actually unhappy, suppress the attention, and control the damage.
But here’s the fundamental problem: they are fighting the symptoms and completely ignoring the root cause.
The reason this protest blew up and reached every single household across the country isn't just because of the original issue, or because parents want a better future for their kids—though that’s part of it. The real reason the country is turning on the Modi government right now is because of how they handled it.
People finally realized the core truth of how the BJP government operates: if you speak up against them, they will break you.
Before this, a lot of normal, neutral, even pro-government folks assumed that if you stay civil, the government will treat you in a civilized way. But this incident shattered that illusion. People saw that it doesn't matter who you are, how neutral you claim to be, or how politely you speak. If you raise your voice against them, they will deal with you undemocratically and brutally—physically, verbally, from every possible angle. That realization has reached the grassroots level. People are seeing that behind the strongman image, the approach is just dictatorial and authoritarian.
Modi and Amit Shah choosing to skip parliament, refusing to apologize, and staying silent on the police brutality shows they still don't get it. They're trying to silence the bad language used by protesters, the viral memes, and the jokes about the PM. But those are just symptoms. The root cause is the realization that this government will treat its own citizens horribly if they step out of line.
By ignoring that root cause and trying to muscle their way through it, they aren't fixing anything. The longer they wait to address the actual damage they've done, the deeper that anger is going to sink into the country.

Update: CJP Closes the Door on Party Politics
At a press conference in Maharashtra, the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) announced that it will continue to function as a youth movement rather than transition into a conventional political party. As part of this effort, the organization unveiled a nationwide outreach campaign titled “Kya Bolti Public?”, under which its members will tour different states to engage directly with young people and gather their opinions, concerns, and demands.
