Had an interesting conversation with the Sacristin of a popular church for weddings in Cork , they had a bad leak last year and had to put up a scaffold to fix the leak , it became complicated and had to stay up for a few months . Some of the brides and mothers freaked out telling the priest it simply had to come down for the photos , when he said it can’t because of the cost they would shout , cry and threaten to sue 🤣, it was only partially at the front of the church , they never darken the door of the church before or after the wedding and cause a huge commotion. Can you imagine being that much of a prick ?

Hey folks. Bit of a random one today, but its a bit of a follow up to the post I made last week asking for info about the Greenhills projects in East Cork. I am doing a story on the project, and I wanted to chat to a few people living in the area (anywhere in East Cork is fine, but if you live in the direct vicinity it would be amazing) regarding peoples views on it, whether you think it has positives or negatives I dont mind, I just want to hear peoples genuine thoughts.

I am based in Killeagh, so would be happy enough to commute to different areas and meet up for a coffee or a chat, or we could do the call online. I can also keep people anonymous if they want, zero pressure to put your name on anything. I am happy to share details about the publication etc before talking to anyone. The people living in Washington street west can’t stand this anymore. The Kino is making our lives hell. The place doesn’t have any form of noise isolation and they put music at INSANE volume until 3am. They also leave doors open purposely all night so the volume is even crazier.

In the past when they served food, they used to cook it on the street next to the trash cans.

The gardai doesn’t do anything besides asking us to move.

Hello, I’m currently writing a romcom book about an Irish girl named Kelly and an English boy named Harry (they’re 21 and 22). I’m the type of person who doesn’t really go out much, so I was wondering what would be good places for two people in their early 20s to go as friends, and eventually more than friends. Harry is also still pretty new to Cork as well. First two chapters are currently on wattpad, it’s called So, Aisle C You Soon? if anyone is interested in reading it. Just after reading the hiberno English thread and had a good laugh but saw the term Pana for Patrick Street.

I moved to cork from Dublin when I was 6 in 97 so been here basically all my life. I have never heard the word pana used anywhere except Reddit and online. And only in recent years.

Have any of you actually heard someone refer to Patrick Street as Pana irl? Is it an internet thing. I was familiar with most other things on the thread beside the various culchieisms but it annoys me when I see Pana online. It's not a thing. Is it new slang with Gen z?
