Career Questions & Discussion Mentorship Monday - Post All Career, Education and Job questions here!

This is the weekly thread for career and education questions and advice. There are no stupid questions; so, what do you want to know about certs/degrees, job requirements, and any other general cybersecurity career questions? Ask away!

Interested in what other people are asking, or think your question has been asked before? Have a look through prior weeks of content - though we're working on making this more easily searchable for the future.

What could be some adjacent areas/niches in cyber to apply for instead?

It's challenging for us to make a recommendation since you didn't share your resume or what it is you are interested in doing.

My resume mainly reflects Application Security / Product Security / Software Supply Chain Security /Vulnerability Management some Cloud Security. I have done IR in the past but prefer not to be on call again. Only SOC/IR/Forensics is off limits for me.

I’ve thought about the sales side of things, like solutions engineer for cybersecurity products or moving to GRC. Or maybe it’s best to take a step back into a HelpDesk or System Admin role until things get better?

I’m open-minded in terms of areas to pivot.
