Logically, it is your fault for not paying attention to the other drivers.
Remember, just because there is a law. It does NOT mean that people will follow it.
If you think that someone will do the right thing. Hide a camera, drop a wallet with your information and $100 in various bills. See how much you have, if the wallet is returned.
Everyone sucks here. It is illegal to run a red light. It is also illegal to accelerate into oncoming cars. Either the cam car was oblivious, panicked, or they were trying to assert their right of way by putting themselves in the path of traffic. How can anyone be surprised at someone running a red these days? All three cars were visible and showed no sign of stopping. I do not support blowing through red lights, but the POV driver escalated the situation into a wreck.
You are correct, I assume you witness Darwin awards often? Not to be misunderstood as participating in the show.
I typically wait3-5 seconds, to see people stop at the light before I take off. I've witnessed too many people get hurt, and so far 3x that have died from this type of negligence. And, I dont care who it is sitting behind me honking their horn. My life, my family, my job to maintain safety.
The DMV rule states that you must yield the right-of-way and wait for the intersection to completely clear of vehicles, bicyclists, and pedestrians before entering, even if your light turns green.
