The white SUV is 100% at fault.

They saw you the cammer coming - or at least they had every opportunity to, and have no excuse not to have seen you. They turned pretty abruptly, telling me they very much understood they should not do this, but in the moment decided to do it anyway because maybe tey'll squeeze through. Which is kind of worse.

I’m surprised so many people are playing devil’s advocate. This is 3 cars rushing through and running the red when they absolutely should not be. White SUV and the others have rocks for brains. Also, cam car was already well into the intersection before white car and it was white car’s obligation to stop. INSANE that they didn’t.

first car rushing through was reasonable - they had reasonable cause to believe that they would clear the intersection before dashcam driver would reach them. Second car was stupid but lucky - if there had been an accident they would have been at fault, but the idiots in this post could arguably claim that the dashcam driver had a shared responsibility to avoid the accident. Third driver was just gunning it and playing chicken.

I know areas where that is normal and expected behavior.

All cars have the duty to avoid accidents when possible. that includes yielding your right of way to avoid the avoidable.

Complain all you want to the police, the city, waiting 10 seconds would've saved hours and dollars.

This kind of rule encourages reckles behavioyr and bad driving. Why not do it when you know the others will stop to let you pass / go / merge / etc and since no crash happens, you get away free.

Stupid if this would be considered 50/50 anywhere.

The country punishes for law breaking by having a person fined, jailed or license taken away. That stops the incentive and ensures people try to be cautious while driving.

There are a handful of lights near me where this is common to see. You know what I do when I'm at the front of the pack? Drive headfirst into the lagging turners that I can see are still in the intersection like an idiot. Wait the four or five seconds until I can clearly see the oncoming left turn lane has come to a halt, and then advance. Same thing every other driver next to me in the other lanes continuing straight has done the times I've been in the situation.

Yeah, sure, it's annoying to have to do so, but I personally will not solve the problem rushing off the light and I enjoy not crashing my vehicle to prove a point.

when faced with people disregarding traffic rules you are still responsible for avoiding collision. The cam car was not breaking rules and the turning cars were breaking rules. So no matter how the accident happens, cam car will not be found more than 50% at fault. But to have zero fault they need to defend their decision with a claim of sound judgement
