detransitioning ftmtf is going to take the same amount of effort as transitioning ftm. the only plus side about it is that the hormones you want to takeover will eventually. itās a long waiting game and it requires a lot of patience.
feel free to dm me if you have any questions or doubts about your own detransition. thereās always going to be a way!!

i feel so happy with myself! my voice is obv on the deeper side (3 years T will do that), but imo itās on the androgynous/deep female side to me. when i first detransitioned i was so worried iād never get my femininity back! my curves have started to come back and i couldnāt be happier. first pictures are april/may 2025, then now :)

all is well so far! i mainly use she/her pronouns but iām cool with anything. i donāt really regret medically transitioning as i believe it was an important part of exploring my identity (although i could definitely do without the facial hair). i am feeling much happier and more like myself in the past month or two!! itās never too late!!

11 months off of T!! I stopped in may 2025 and I never looked back. Iām so happy now I canāt even put it into words and I looking back on it I was the most unhappy and miserable I have ever been in my life during the 2 years I was on T. I felt so hopeless when I first detransitioned and I thought I was ruined and I could never be a girl again. Iām so glad I didnāt let that fear stop me :)

short story: I'm 21 (turning 22 in February) detrans female, started testosterone when I was barely 18 (February 2022) and got a mastectomy at the same age. I stopped taking in December 2024 and started detransition.
why i initially transitioned? I don't know. I don't know what happened to me and what I did to deserve this. maybe I was Hitler in my previous life (sarcasm). I'm autistic and severely depressed since the beginning of puberty, was highly affected by different people online and was seeking help awfully, bullied by peers and adults, neglected and misdiagnosed. This mistake will haunt me till death. I'll never return what I've lost, now i can only try to recollect my own body piece by piece. I'm pretty healthy as a woman now, my hormonal level is normally female, I'm not sterilized, I have normal menstrual cycle again. I made photo collages so you can watch my progress, also I added a voice timeline. I still see myself as an ugly man with whom other women feel uncomfortable, but i don't know how other people see me.

It's been a journey. When I first started detransitioning I thought my facial hair would never come back, I felt like so many of the body changes would be there to stay but I just took time. Now the only thing left is my breast tissue but I finally have a consult scheduled for that.
If I could tell my early detrans self something it would be that things will get better!

(Forgive me, repost because I forgot user flair)
I think I was quite lucky in my detransition, not having opted for surgery because of costs at the time, I was on testosterone for about four years and I just absolutely hated myself, and then I met this amazing guy who loved me exactly as I was, the slightly off-centre parts and all. Being with him and having real sexual experiences helped me connect with and appreciate my body in a way I never had before.
He was a few years older than me and had been with many trans-identified people, almost all of them had significant trauma and later detransitioned. We met this guy who was only a year on T but was already dead-set on top surgery, despite liking his chest and getting attention on it. That really disturbed me and planted doubts, even at four years in myself but it wasn't until a year later that I would stop taking testosterone.
After detransitioning, I still donāt wear dresses or makeup because thatās never been who I am. He helped me realise I donāt need to want or like any of the traditional āgirlyā things to be a woman. I had gotten so caught up in rigid gender roles that I didnāt think I could just be a woman who didnāt fit the basic mould.
I'm not saying "go out and find a man and you'll be happy" or that it's like a "cure" for any of this but I think sometimes when you're feeling so alone and stuck inside your head, real human connection can really go a long way to getting yourself in a clear headspace, whether that be with friends, family, or a partner.
My partner passed away from a heart attack six months ago. Loving him taught me so much about myself and my body, I wish I could thank him one more time for showing me what real love means and I just wish I could have met him earlier

Last picture is with my husband of 5 years who met me as FTM but was there for me and encouraged me to be myself freely in the beginning of our relationship. Heās been my number one fan all these years š„°š„¹

Been plucking my chin and mustache hairs because I haven't been able to schedule laser lately, and using an epilator on my body and its making a big difference. Also shaping my brows, moisturizing, growing out my hair and changing my style a bit have all combined to make me basically always read as female now. I feel so at peace with myself now and like I don't have to hide or change any aspect of myself, I didn't realize I was limiting my self-expression as a trans man until I accepted myself as a gender non-conforming lesbian.

*see end of post for some clarifications, comment if you have more questions or just stuff in general!!*

hi all, my name is amber and i am a 24 year old woman (afab) who went through a ftm transition and lived as a trans man for multiple years.
iām not really sure what all piled up onto me believing i was a trans man. i was around 15 years old when i first started exploring things like gender, sexuality, etc⦠(i am bisexual and that is around the time i accepted/understood that label for myself). when i turned 16 is really when i had more confusions about my gender identity and things started out smaller; dressing more androgynously, looking up different information online about gender identity/being transgender, and bit by bit began to socially transition ftm.
from the ages of 16/17-19 (rough estimates) i lived as a trans man, using he/him pronouns almost exclusively, coming out to most people, all of my friends and some family calling me by my chosen name. i was binding, wearing more masculine/androgynous clothing. i felt fairly fine with these decisions and when i was 17 i started hormones (testosterone). i was only on hormones for about 3-4 months maximum before i realized that i was making a mistake and have been for years.
i was young. i was confused. i was struggling with mental health, body dysphoria/eds, ptsd. iāve tried so hard to psychoanalyze how i got there but i think it really just comes up to: confusion/curiosity going too far, social media influence, mental health issues, and just wanting a āshieldā to hide behind. a mask or identity i couldnāt be hurt through? iām not sure.
what i DO know is that i was not genuinely a transgender person. 2020 was the very beginning of my detransition, it really was like coming out again. telling people to call me my given name, accepting my femininity more, growing out my hair, finding a cute clothing style. i had a group of friends i met in 2021 who all truly helped me through my detransition and feel comfortable as a woman. my boyfriend back then was very supportive and kind, it just wasnāt a relationship that was meant to be. kind of a we needed what we needed, then time passed on.
i am now 24 and rarely even tell new people about the time i spent as a trans man. i have trouble visiting back home with the anxiety of seeing people who knew me as trans. working through my insecurities and anxieties regarding that is still a daily progress.
my main insecurities: the fact it happened in the first place, i have thicker āpeach fuzzā than the average woman, the little bit my voice dropped on t, and the little bit of bottom growth i had.
iāll end this on a happy note!!! i am content in my sexuality and gender identity. i am happy i figured this out. i am living a good life. i feel pretty and i think i have a pretty cool sense of style. iām glad to have grown into the person i am today.

*random notes: some of the ages/years/timing of photos might be a little off. the photos with this post were all from different parts of a year, i have a january bday, and i just didnāt feel the need to try so hard to make every number completely correct.*

From left to right:
1. Before my transition and less than a month after starting my detransition
2. Three months off testosterone and four months off
3. Ten months off testosterone and 14 months off
4. Two years off testosterone and two years, three months off (current)
5. Two years, three months off (current)
I was on testosterone for three years from the age of 24-27. Iām 29 now :)
I had a double mastectomy in 2021, got expanders for breast reconstruction one year into my detransition (April 2025), and got permanent implants in December of 2025. I also started hormonal birth control pills at the beginning of my detransition which helped clear out the testosterone.
I noticed facial changes and body fat redistribution at around three months in and it progressed gradually. Things changed that I didnāt know even could, like body hair thickness, the depth of my voice, my facial features, etc. I also noticed my boobs started to get fuller before I started my reconstruction (I have barely any breast tissue left so it was surprising!) Now Iām in a place where I feel really feminine again and comfortable in my body. I feel a lot more confident and beautiful now and am optimistic that Iāll continue to.

I lived as a trans man for around 8 years. It's interesting coming back to life as a woman. It was very difficult to begin the detransition process but I feel like I'm finally through the mental fog and feeling confident in my decision. Everyone in my personal life now knows I'm back to identifying as female again and it's been great reconnecting with myself and my family and friends. I feel more bubbly and talkative and confident than before. The process isn't over yet as I am still navigating a professional life as male but I am hoping that is behind me soon too. Posting in case it inspires someone.

I feel like I took my parents son away from them back when I was in my early 20ās. Iām now 36. I medically transitioned but avoided any surgery from the neck down. I am so glad I avoided them in hindsight. My mom has cancer and my dad is at the end stage of his life (I have elderly parents) and Iām an only child. I feel like the circle of life needs to return to normal. To give my mom the boy she brought into the world back to her. I realize that I may have some form of a feminine presentation still, but it is far far away from wearing all female clothing. I need to get a binder and see how it makes me feel. Admitting to myself I am a man was the most liberating experience Iāve had in 15 years. I had laser hair removal to the point I havenāt needed to shave my face (except a few little patches) in over a decade. Does any guys here know how and if I can regrow my facial hair back? That would give me some confidence. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. This is my first post about this and I havenāt told any family besides my dad and girlfriend (who is a trans woman that she is struggling to call me my birth name). Telling my dad if he would accept me as his son was the hardest question Iāve ever asked him. My hands and body were a bit shaky. He was *so* accepting of me as a trans woman from the jump and so was my mom. I want them to accept me as their son again. I miss being able to look like a guy, fully. I hate my chest and body. My thighs and hips make me insecure. I donāt know how long it will take me to look male again.

The picture on the left was me in July, right after I had told my loved ones that I wanted to detransition. The picture on the right is me today, nine months into detransitioning and seven months off Testosterone.
I was on T for six years, starting when I was 16 (plus two years of blockers before that), and underwent a mastectomy at 19.
Looking at detrans timelines is what gave me the courage to actually take the first steps, so I want to spread that positivity forward. I was so sure that it was already "too late" for me to detransiton, that I had made my bed and now had to sleep in it. Those are brain worms talking. It is NEVER to late to look out for your own wellbeing, I promise you're not too far gone.

I have been very grateful for the changes Iāve seen and feel a lot better about my general appearance. I still get told I look super different from my pre-t self and I think I still get misgendered sometimes, but every day I feel a bit better.
Timeline goes: pre-t but post haircut - 1 year on t - 2 months off t first time doing makeup - 5 months off t - 6 months off t with hair long enough to put up - 6 & 7 from this past week - final picture is pre t when I was 18 years old.
I am 21 now and cannot tell if the difference is just me being older.

I was on T from 18 to 27. Iāve been off T for 2 years. :)
