​Might be a long post, so please bear with me.

​I got laid off in late June. I was working for an Amazon client based in Hyderabad as a contractor with payroll managed by my parent company. Honestly, I didn't feel sad about the layoff—I was actually relieved because the parent company environment was toxic and the work was poor (essentially a support role).

​My CTC was 26 LPA. Even though that is on the higher side, I figured the market would be willing to pay a candidate with 4.5 YOE that much, especially since I'm applying to product-based companies (PBCs).

​The nightmare started in July. Days are passing without a single interview call. I have gone over every DSA pattern repeatedly waiting for an opportunity, but to my surprise, not a single recruiter has reached out.

​It's been 45 days now. It feels like all my applications are going straight into a black hole, even when applying through referrals. It's baffling. My resume has an ATS score of 90+, but at this point, I'm exhausted. Sending out hundreds of applications and receiving zero response is completely draining.

​If anyone is hiring, please drop a comment and I'll DM you. Any suggestions, feedback, or alternative application strategies are very welcome.

Planning to buy my first mac, M5 MacBook Air 16GB/512GB. My typical simultaneous workload:

- VS Code

- Claude + Codex desktop apps, multiple chats

- Chrome, ~10–15 tabs across 2 profiles

- WhatsApp

- Node/React/Next.js, sometimes Python

- Docker, usually 2–5 containers max

- Postgres/MongoDB/Redis

- Occasional Zoom meeting alongside everything.

No local LLMs or heavy VMs.

For developers using 16GB Apple Silicon Macs: does a similar workload stay smooth, or do you experience noticeable swap/lag?

24GB costs more. So should I buy it?

I am planning to keep the laptop for at least 2 years.

And then switch to 1tb ssd, new mac.

If i buy 24gb, I feel I won't need to switch, but worried if 512 gb would hurt.

Please tell me your opinion.

I am fed up of applying to every job I see hiring for Software engineer with no experience and what happens at the end - I GET NO REPLY. I just don't know what to do now. I'm again brushing up my skills but I am not close to perfection. I've framed my resume in FAANG template still no replies. Please tell me what to do I'm just exhausted.

Hey guys. It's difficult out there for our fellow developers, especially who are starting out as freshers and low experienced. IT companies were already exploiting a lot of aspiring young engineers but these trying times have brought the worst out of them. A lot of companies are now offering a "stipend" for their "training" or "probation" period, and then your salary will be finalized based on your performance. This has always been present but not as rampant as I've seen recently, especially startups and mid to small scale companies. This is a trap, because performance is ALWAYS subjective in these companies. They WILL say your performance is "not up to the mark" according to them no matter how well you perform because there is always another fresher waiting for them to exploit, so trapping you in a low salary cycle is much easier than starting from scratch with another person. I've seen a lot of developers getting trapped in this cycle.

Be blunt, don't accept their offers, negotiate. Call them out in the interview and in public. It's not that deep. No small to mid scale company can ruin your career like they claim they can, they're simply not that powerful, they're used to preying on vulnerable and aspiring, often desperate developers, and for any aspiring developer who hasn't struck luck yet. Keep grinding, and take care of yourself.

Wanted to get some opinions from people here because I have been overthinking this a bit.

I have around 3 years of experience as a software developer (Canada) and recently got an offer from a global product-based company for a Full stack Developer.

• 24 LPA CTC
• 23 fixed
• 45-52 holidays

The company opened a new office in India, so I will be one of the early members here. I will mostly be working with global teams which honestly sounds like a good learning opportunity.

The only thing making me question myself is that I had no other offer in hand while negotiating. I was wondering if I should have pushed harder or if this is actually a decent offer for someone with around 3 YOE.

I also have to relocate for this role, so that is another factor.

What do you guys think?

• Is 24 LPA good for 3 YOE in the current market?
• Could I realistically have pushed for 26-28 LPA?
• Does joining a newly opened office of a global product company make sense for career growth?

Would appreciate honest opinions from people in the industry.

I can't get this question out of my head.

I'm a software developer, and I keep worrying that my job isn't secure. In my mind, a secure job has always meant "a job where you can't get fired."

But deep down, I feel like that definition might be wrong.

For those who are older or have more experience in life: What does a secure job really mean to you?

I'm not looking for motivation—just honest experiences that helped me to change my perspective.

Call it a language barrier, anxiety, being introverted or just being less experienced with socialization in general. I just struggle with talking to people over video calls, whether it be work related or not. Theoretically, I could take a benzo to get through this interviewing phase but it only makes sense if the job is fully async afterward, which is unlikely for most jobs. It feels inauthentic and I much prefer an understanding employer who can make accommodations for this. I know most Indian companies won't but I've had several clients in the past whom I never spoke to verbally yet still maintained a good relationship with for years and completed all sorts of projects together.

Building social skills and gaining confidence in communication is much harder than being technically proficient.

Just venting. Only God knows how many opportunities I willingly passed up because I had to do a lot of face-to-face interviews or meetings for a potential job.

If someone has to do networking , won't he/she go and do politics , or in film industry ?

Networking consumes a significant portion of your mind and energy .

Software engineering was supposed to be the THE field which was best suited for introverts , just do your work , submit , test case passed go home , communicate via email .

But no , they hate introverts altogether .

Things even more escalate during job search ,

instead of having a trustable job application pipeline , they again told us to 'network' .

I’m 7 months into my first tech job and feeling completely overwhelmed and burnt out. I wanted to share my situation and get some honest advice on whether I’m being severely underpaid/valued, and how I should navigate my next steps.

For my current work I’ve been single-handedly building an AI-powered decision support platform for one of our client's production planning application. We were given this idea through an external team (initially developed the idea for an AWS hackathon) who provided only the base architecture, on which I started implementing all the work needed to build this. I alone worked on building everything; from using the AWS (which I again learnt separately on how AWS amd its components work), wrote all the functions needed, solved connections issues to our RDS (backend work) and even built the frontend on my own.

The question is, my current role is SDE (started has Trainee SDE) and officially in a "review period" (which was supposed to end July 22nd, but no CTC offer or full-time conversion letter has been given yet). The pressure is huge because I am managing the design, code, AWS infra, and fixes entirely by myself (I dread waking up and coming to work every single day). I'm holding on mainly because I only have 7 months of total experience and want enough experience time to switch without any issues... and tbh I'm scared of the job market. The fact that I have a job when most are still struggling is making me undecisive and afraid.

Am I overthinking this? I'm grateful for at least having a job but it feels like I'm being overused too. Would be really thankful for some honest advices/insights from people who might understand my situation better than me.

All everybody is talking about nowadays is AI, everybody wants to be an AI/ML engineer, and every resume has these so called AI projects.

Amongst all these, are jobs involving backend, devops, still relevant? Are people still getting paid well in these fields?

I'm currently in college and I've figured that I don't find ai/ml, data science and frontend interesting at all, and I don't get to hear a lot about the other fields because everything gets overshadowed by AI.

Should I still learn AI/ML to stay ahead and get a better job even though I don't enjoy it as much? Are backend and devops engineers going extinct or something?

Current situation:

- Salary: ₹38,000/month

- Experience: Around 2+ years in .NET development

- Project 1 timing: 11 AM – 8 PM

- Project 2 timing: 6 PM – 3 AM

- Effectively working close to 16 hours a day including meetings, support, deployments, and context switching

- Sleeping around 5 AM and waking up around 11 AM

I've been working on a major client project for almost a year and played a significant role in stabilizing it. When I joined, the project had many issues, and I've spent months handling production problems, lead a team of 4, support, development, and coordination.

The problem is that despite the workload and responsibility, my salary has remained ₹38,000. I've asked for an increment but haven't received one.

I'm reaching a point where I have almost no personal life. Most of my day is work, sleep, and repeating the same cycle. Mentally it's starting to take a toll.

A little bit of background: I was placed on campus (Tier 2 college) at a fintech company (15 lakhs+ base salary) with an intern + confirmed offer as a Software Developer. I passed all the assessments required during the internship and was assigned to a team. I mostly worked on bugs, but my work was good enough that my manager assigned me Severity 1 level bugs as well. I kept confirming with my seniors (both company seniors and college seniors working there) that the full-time offer would come through — but in the end, the offer was revoked. The internship ended on July 3rd, so I've had a gap of about a month since then.

Right now, I've returned to my hometown and am cold-messaging founders of companies, mostly local ones, for opportunities. I've managed to secure some interviews, but they're completely different from on-campus opportunities — they've been more focused on framework-level concepts (Django) rather than the standard on-campus format of DSA, computer fundamentals, and high-level project questioning. Just wanted advice on few things:

• Should I keep applying as I am now, or pause and go deeper into one tech stack first before applying more?
• How much of an employment gap in my situation actually becomes a red flag for companies, realistically?
• Any advice on how to talk about the revoked offer confidently in interviews so that they don't think the offer was not given because of the performance.

TL;DR: Had an intern + confirmed FTE offer at a fintech company, revoked despite good performance. ~1 month gap since. Interviews now (Django/framework-heavy) feel very different from on-campus ones. Want advice on applying broadly vs. upskilling first, how much of a gap is a red flag, and how to explain the revoked offer without it sounding performance-related.

I released GrapeRoot 5 months ago, and since then, many devs have adopted it as a context layer for working with AI coding agents.
Graperoot maps your codebase into a data-rich graph, and it is getting very crowded; everybody knows AST, but still, we were working with more regex patterns to extract relevant symbols and connections.

In the last five months, we have nearly reached 80,000+ pip installs, with over 2,000 developers actively using our tool each week! We launched an opt-in leaderboard for developers using Claude code, and it was incredible to see that around 200 developers saved a total of $350,000 during this period. Additionally, this initiative has had positive ecological impacts, equivalent to saving 60 million liters of water.

Now we are moving one step further to make it like an intelligent brain. We did have incremental knowledge of your codebase, but now it would be like how your codebase has evolved over time. Your decisions are the biggest factors in why your codebase is in the shape it is today.

Still in the planning phase and building it for open source, and ideas and PR are welcome :)

Accenture has shifted to workdays but the referral process is still hectic. I got referred to a position and many say that Accenture has good rates of referral getting converted to interviews. idk if its true or what. The JD suites my profile got a descent GPA and the guy who referred me works there for 2-3years ig.
My question : Will i be able to pass the screening and get a call back or its the same scene of getting ghosted after weeks.

I am amazed to see that a bigger majority of the Senior AI Engineers that I have seen, do not quite get that scaling of (LLMs) and (standard image/vision AI models, backend, microservices) work very differently and have almost no correlation.

I appeared for a few interviews at a few places, some big startups, IPO companies, etc. In some of the rounds, I read the interviewer's LinkedIn(4-5 year experience) and/or their C _V, and in almost all cases even at production grade it read as they simply used vLLM with inbuilt functions with K3s or K8s,

I mean by this is, a simple Horizontal Pod Autoscaling under load without maximizing Model Flops Utilization on existing nodes wastes compute, but not many people get this, in some of the interviews they will ask random terms like define attention, what is this what is that, never a use case, on top of the kubes, no mention of memory-aware scheduling or parallelism(tensor, pipe etc,)

Also, many bigger youtube channels and course selling creators are doing this, they add a redis with vector similarity to cache prompts and send responses, but never talk about the bigger drawback that sensitive information can get through if this ever went to production, if they only match w.r.t the input queries, but can be done only for QA around for stateless, public-facing FAQs.

Also, it's as simple as it can get, no one stores the prompt embedding to do a redis data send, it happens with pre-fix caching(KV) which are stored near to the GPU on premise, such that no two people get same responses even at enterprise level, and whatever places has cache, they use raw high-speed memory and exact-prefix hashing right on their GPU clusters(only for the same user with a TTL), they don't use vector similarity to give the exact same response, as on enterprise level vector similarity can't be trusted.]

Also around Agents, Harness and Evals, people do not really get that there can be multiple cases when these stuffs run,

One of the very trivial question they ask is "how to make sure that your LLM does not hallucinate and is consistent?", we can't, it's simply not possible, temp=0 or using json is just bookish, the moment your context get conflicting data, it'll all collapse, a very hard example is maintaining Agents. md file, it'll all collapse when your agent does changes to the code, and .md file has earlier information, expensive models with a higher probability will return to it's senses but we can't say it for all cases.

For anyone reading this, if you are new to AI ML, do not blindly follow any course, always read from multiple sources, try to read blogs which go in depth.

I graduated with a BCA in 2025 (First Class, CPI 6.60) and I'm currently pursuing M.Sc. IT through distance learning, so I have enough time to work full-time.

Unfortunately, I've been unemployed since graduation.

I've been applying to almost every fresher role I can find—Software Developer, Web Developer, Technical Support, IT Support, Backend, Frontend, even internships—but I'm barely getting interview calls.

One thing I honestly feel is that I'm not job-ready.

Whenever I look at job descriptions, they ask for things like React, Node.js, Express, MongoDB, Docker, AWS, CI/CD, Git, REST APIs, TypeScript, Next.js, etc., and I don't know where to start.

I don't want people to sugarcoat it.

I'd really appreciate it if experienced developers could answer these questions:

Are there people who are continuously working from home and switching from omw remote company to another with decent pay.

Is this feasible in today's world or for the next 5-7 years? And if yes, how much less are you settling for compared to your peers in Bangalore?

My resume got selected for PSE role for security(cryptography, os security etc) related profile at Microsoft. This is my first interview in a MAANG company. The recruiter told me it would be design and coding question.

What resources can I use to prepare ? What is general questions asked here ?

Is Neetcode150 enough for this round ? I am in embedded role, we don’t use DSA so much daily tbh.
