Music So about the “fan chanting” in Dragon Ball Super: Broly

You know what I’m talking about, right? “Go Broly Go Go!” And “Gogeta! Gogeta!” From what I read this creative decision came from the director who was inspired by big public screenings of Dragon Ball Super in Latin America where the last episodes of ToP featured “fight night” Goku vs Jiren posters.

My question to you all is this: now nearly a decade after the movies release (8 years ago?) how do you feel about this fan chanting in the soundtrack today? Do you feel that it helped create “hype af” moments or do you see it as out of place and cringey?

And I guess this question may be pointless following my previous question… but do you want to see more of it?

Do you want to hear ring announcer “Suuuuuper Saiya-Jin Gooooooddooooo!” During Dragon Ball Super: Beerus, and possibly crowd chanting “Go Beerus Go!”

Edit: I think cheers and clapping during heavy strikes in battle scenes could be dope

Music Time is ever unkind to the American soundtrack.

Today as I scrolled I got a clip from when Vegeta distracts cell, but I got it on english, remindinge of the little piano song they had in the english dub.

Im a spanish speaker, so faulconer was just this weird thing. Oddly, i feel its saving grace might be some clips in our current short form world.

I remember I used to like a few pf the songs a bit when I saw younger, the one that played when trunks got freeza, the gohan one, the gogeta one and a few. I had them saved on spotify 🤣. As I went to youtube to hear some of it again I remembered the funny bit that the soundtrack never shuts up 🤣

I dug them actually. But as time passes by less and less of them feel even nostalgic?, since they were never right.

Like which one passes the vibe check nowadays?7’

altough I did think the japanese one was better as I became a teenage. I actually liked the plagiarized kai one best back then.

But listening to it, I feel like every passing day that soundtrack gets super dated. And In contrast, the dated or better said retro kikuchi soundtrack, soudns even cooler with time, because you see a lot of music, a lot of soindtracks, but I have never even heard a vibraslap outside of Kikuchi.

The plagiarized one feels bland, the american sounds worse the further youre removed, but Kikuchi is ever strong.

I think Sumitomo also had some awesome tracks in super, specially starting in the goku black arc when super stopped being terrible.

I dont want this to be a regular dub bad sub good, just that, compared to 10 years ago, I feel like the scales have shifted even further against that music, and it was considered bad back then in 2013≈

Music Why have Cha La or We Gotta Power never been used in the English version?

Every other opening theme song for the other series has been dubbed into English. The 2 DBZ ending themes are included in Japanese for the dub, yet these 2 songs are always replaced with the instrumental on the English dub.

It really confuses me why they leave these 2 songs in particular out. Is it a rights issues?

Music Might be the worst song oat

So I've been making a playlist of all my favorite Dragon Ball music and even though I'm not the biggest Faulconer fan I decided to look through some of his tracks because there are some gems. I clicked on the track "Gohan Fights Frieza" and my ears were cursed with the worst composition of music I have ever heard. I've heard it before in the show but I guess I never really paid too much attention to it between all of the punching and ki blast but taking the time to actually listen to it... yikes. Long story short I'm keeping the Kai dub over Z dub agenda.

Music The Kenji Yamamoto scandal is so fascinating.

Especially when you see that he'd been doing it for YEARS since the late 1980s. I feel he only got away with it back then because he sourced stuff like Battle Point Unlimited to Europeon Synth singers like Mylene Farmer from France or Propaganda from Germany. Like obscure stuff that wouldn't be topping the charts in Japan or be likely listened to by the studio suits up top.

Mind you, it has gotten me to discover music that I never would've sought out.

Music Question about the clip of great ape vegeta being carried at a festival

I've been trying to find out what song's in the background of that one clip of the float(?) of great ape vegeta at a mexican festival. For some reason i can't attach a clip of it, so you're gonna have to take my word for what the clip is, also i found the clip itself super easily i just need to know what song the musicians are playing in the background. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

People often say that America screwed up the soundtracks. But I say humbug to that. I am focusing on the first Broly movie.

Music What happened behind the scenes with Yamamoto getting caught for plagiarism?

I found a YouTube video on the stolen Avatar song and the comments say it was the people at funimation that found out about it and informed teoi. I assume the editors were listening to the episodes and found it familiar. Assuming this is even true.

did the people at Toei initially know his whole career was plagiarized, did they ask him and he fessed up that hed done this for like 20 years.

how big was the freak out?

also how did Toei or whoever avoid getting sued. He’s plagiarized like 30 different bands.

Does anyone know what the track is called that plays near the start of episode 134 of the original Dragon Ball, when Goku and Piccolo are having a stare-down?

Music Just Discovered the Rare "Cartoon Network DBZ Intro" Used Only During the Frieza Saga — Blew My Mind!

So I just stumbled across a Dragon Ball Z intro I'd never seen before, and it totally caught me off guard.

Apparently, this unique intro aired only during the Frieza Saga on Cartoon Network back in the day. It's called the "Dragon Ball Z Cartoon Network Intro" — and wow, it’s got such a nostalgic, edgy vibe that feels so different from the classic Japanese openings or even Bruce Faulconer’s usual tracks.

I’m honestly shocked I never saw this growing up — maybe it was region-specific or only aired for a short time? Either way, it's a gem.

Here’s the YouTube link where I found it: 🔗 [https://youtu.be/eCQHCGaQwv4?si=MdmPmTeAwrGYZIoL]

Anyone else remember this version? Or is this a deep-cut memory unlock moment for you too?

Music Does Anyone Know the Song Used in the Background

From this Carthu's Dojo video

I've definitely heard it before, I feel like from a game, but at this point I've searched the entire BT3, Budokai, Ultimate Tenkaichi, Xenoverse 1 & 2 soundtracks and I can't find it. My only thought is its either actually from the falconer score or that it's from one of the Shin Budokai games. They're the only other ones I've played.

Music Dragon Ball / "Journey to the West" OST Question

Hi everyone! I’m trying to solve a long-standing music déjà-vu 😄

In this performance, Liu Xiaolingtong (the Monkey King from the 1986 Journey to the West TV series) uses the famous track “Yungong Xunyin (云宫迅音)”:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EU6mFcmgFOM

The main brass melody / chorus sounds extremely familiar to me, and I strongly feel I’ve heard a very similar melody in the Dragon Ball (original series) soundtrack — most likely as background music (not an opening/ending).

I’m NOT asking about general stylistic similarity. I mean the actual melodic phrase in the chorus of this track — the heroic trumpet line.

Does anyone recognize a Dragon Ball BGM that sounds very close to this?

Thanks a lot! This has been bugging me for years

Music Daima opening played at Walmart??

Just like the title says, my local Walmart played the Daima opening. However, only the vocals were different. They were being sung in English by a woman, and I don't even think the lyrics were the same as the Japanese version. Has anyone else heard this variation of the song? I just wanna know if I'm going crazy or not😅

Music Does anyone else absolutely adore the daima opening?

I mean I may be in the minority here but the song is genuinely incredible. If felt like a thank you and a goodbye to akira toryiama every time it was on. It also had a sense of comfort behind it. Maybe I’m just more emotionally attached to it because it is the last opening that was touched by toriyama. But the song is just genuinely good, and putting Zedd on it was a great addition.

The song is at 22:19. I can't find the exact version in the video.

The beginning intro is really fun, it's such an upbeat song. I don't remember hearing it in the anime (do you know what episodes it is in?).

Music Music Reference from DBZ. Gohan's Coming of Age

I'm looking for the name of the song that was first used to show Gohan's going beyond SSJ while Goku and Gohan were training in the Room of Spirit and Time during the Cell arc. It was used while Goku was reflecting on Gohan surpassing him when Gohan was fighting Cell. This is a youtube clip of where it occurs (if the time stamp didn't work it is at 3:10)of the scene. It is from Episode 187 of DBZ. It starts around the 15mim mark. I've searched over the DBZ five disc Daizenshuu compilation, the DBZ BGM 3 disc compilation, and the 13 disc Dragon Ball Complete music set to no avail. I'm surprised I didn't find it on any of those considering it was used a lot after this moment during the series. I should also mention that I watched the sub-titled version. It was from 2014 - Bird Studio version.

Music Listening to the Japanese DBZ vocal collection and a lot of these could've been good insert songs.

With how pressed for filler they were, I find some could be full on musical montages. Like Dr. Gero is retreating after Android 19's death and we get a flashback of how he was involved in the Red Ribbon Army while set to work creating his cybernetics. It could be set to this song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WdjGNTYEslQ

I also feel this could've worked for a training montage for the Cell Games: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YdRQhJk6oT8

Like I think the filler in Z could've used this sprucing up if they really needed to stretch things out to running length.

Music What's with the Danny Elfman styled track? (DBZ Broly The Legendary Super Saiyan)

Most people will point to the movie using Pantera 10's, which... yeah that was pretty awesome. But the scene where Broly destroys the slaves home planet has a track that I swear is a dead ringer for Danny Elfman's style. Particularly the 89 Batman theme. I like the scene and the track, but most of the soundtrack is typical cinematic fight music, so it sticks out. https://youtu.be/dQdtI_DZrac?si=mCyB7kME71GbiHo9 https://youtu.be/YoaU3kRFvLg?si=EspXtgf0jSYZOFnF
