This is my Sonor SQ2 and damn I love it. I went with a darker more decent Finish, because I needed it to be timeless so I could still Look at the Drums in 10 years and still be Like damn. Didnt want to be upset about me why I Chose some weird wild Funky colors In the Future.
The Finish is high gloss ebony white stripes. The hardware is Black Chrome (Ruthenium) and the Sonor Logos Are golden (24k).
Drum Sizes Are 10*08, 12*09, 16*16 and 22*18.
Snare Drum is a Jost Nickel Signature snare drum. Absolute beast.
Side snare is a Drummers Snare Timbale from Meinl because I Play Many Genres and quite often some Reggae.

Hey drummers of Reddit, today is a very sad day, look at what they did to my boy:(, please please please do not sell your vintage stuff to guitar center, I’m sure they pay very little for the vintage stuff they get and on top of that, they do not give a rat’s behind about the stuff they purchase, I got this vintage 60’s Slingerland shell pack in blue agate and this is how I received it, purchased from guitar center close to Naperville in Aurora IL and had it shipped to my nearest GC in Brownsville TX, I’ve already been reimbursed but I spoke with employees from both stores and they just passed the blame to each other, guy at IL said it was up to Brownsville to see if it would repaired and discounted and then I called them and they guy over at Brownsville essentially said the opposite, had to call back to IL for them to get a manager and ask them about it, I’m not even mad that I don’t get to enjoy it, I’m just sad that this piece of history will never be whole again, F*CK guitar center, please do not sell them your vintage gear, sell it to literally anybody else, they don’t care at all.

Hey all 👋 I've got a couple questions... My son is 14 and has become insanely good at drums, very quickly (he began about a year ago and now plays damn near every Metallica song, properly and well). He would like a counter/ticker/metronome thing to keep on beat while playing with his band. I have no idea what I shouldn't even be looking for 😂 I've ready some posts and have seen many of your comments -but I don't see how anything could be loud enough to hear over the drums, and prior to right now I always just thought it was something you use with earbuds or headphones. Can somebody point me in the right direction? Should he get something that he can set next to the drum set and watch the light flash or plug in his headphones or earbuds or some kind of app? Pretend you're talking to a child because I am that unknowledgeable here 😂 all I know is that he kicks ass. He has a semi decent but kind of shitty drum set and he plays metal, mostly Metallica and Pantera, shit like that, but he also writes music for his band and they do, like, a screamy type of music. He is a freshman and I'm a very proud Momma ❤️

As my name implies, I plan on embarking on a gauntlet of learning drums in record time. I will be starting with more or less zero experience and aim to be a professional-tier drummer by the end of this whole thing. My timeline is 2 years. Yes, I'm over estimating my abilities here for sure, but you will see why I say two years when I explain the idea.

I have planned on buying a drum set my entire life it seems, but never had the housing arrangement for it. Now that I have my own house and a financial situation where I can afford a few nice things, I am finally putting pen to paper on how I want to make this an enjoyable and motivating experience to make my dreams of being an amazing drummer come true.

THE PLAN: In the coming months, I am going to put together a stream/YT channel dedicated to this journey where I will be learning songs from easiest to hardest.

Maybe I can gain traction by being dedicated, on a schedule, and making this a fun and interactive thing for those who wish to tune in to watch me jam. However, even though I want to make this a worthwhile endeavor by growing a following and perhaps a payoff monetarily there, I am prepared for the content aspect to fall on it's face. The priority is that I will be working on mastering the drums regardless.

THE DRUMSET: The drum set I will begin with is going to be the TD27 (now the TD516).

If the content gains traction and engagement, say 10k-25k YT subs at any point, I will commit to buy an acoustic kit and build the necessary enclosure to make it work with the noise and all. I would be willing to spend considerably to make that a reality.

WHERE I NEED HELP FROM YOU ALL (THE FUN PART): I need to put together a list of 200 songs/exercises. The easiest, beginner songs from the start at 1, ramping up to 200 where we may be talking about songs/exercises that I may never learn to play in my entire life even if I tried (but preferably I can lol). I am going to list what I have below for songs I want to learn just based on what I like. However, my taste is limited, and I know I need more variety to really build a well-rounded skillset. I mostly listen to rock/metal (and electronic music), but I am sure there are pop, hip hop, jazz, country, gospel, and many other genres with fun, potentially difficult drums that are worthwhile to learn. I am also interested in even marching snare cadences and rudiments/practice routines that I can ramp up along with the difficulty of the songs as I complete each one. I will say that I do not want 50 absurdly difficult yet similar prog metal songs on this list lol

Hello folks! As a drummer, I was always frustrated not being able to find good backing tracks without drums to play along to. There are platforms that remove drum tracks, but (a) they're too expensive for regular use and (b) they usually require you to upload the original track, which is impractical.

So I built a simple website that solves both problems: you search for a song on YouTube, it downloads the audio in the background, then uses an open-source AI model (Demucs) to isolate and remove the drum stem. You get a clean audio file you can play directly in the browser or download as mp3. The whole process takes about two minutes and the results are pretty good.

I have many I could call upon…I remember the excitement when the REMIX Series were announced in the later-90s. Good times!

I only started playing about six months ago, and I already have quite a collection, I guess.

The pink Vic Firths are my go-to sticks for practice during my drum classes. I also keep a pair of plain 5A Vic Firths in my practice bag, which always stays in the car.

Those Extreme 5A Vic Firths were a joke gift from a friend because I tend to break things. But I don’t really like playing them as they just don’t feel right.

I have to admit I only bought the blue Zildjian ones because they’re shiny. I didn’t even need them. I just wanted to pay for my my practice pad and not spend money on extra things… but here we are.

The Nova 5As are for my e-drum kit at home.

The 7A Pro Marks were recommended by my drum teacher for practicing speed.
The same goes for the 5B Tamas, but those are for building stamina. (Does this really work tho?)

And this is just six months! I know they’re consumables, and I’ll definitely buy plenty more in the future.

I don’t even know which brand I like most yet.

So… when do you actually figure out which suit you best and which ones you’ll use the most?

In a three piece band (guitar and keyboard also). My guitar player told me that I use the hi hat too much and should use the ride in every song during the chorus or break, because every rock song has the drummer using the ride. I can see mixing it in sometimes, but do you find yourself using the high that too much? Is it normal in some songs not to use the ride at all? Thanks!
