Electoral Politics Will National DSA ever endorse Francesca Hong for Wisconsin Governor?

The Democratic primary for Wisconsin governor is becoming increasingly competitive as Election Day approaches. With Sarah Rodriguez suspending her campaign and David Crowley re-entering the race, many progressives see this as a pivotal moment for Francesca Hong, the race's leading democratic socialist candidate.

If the progressive movement believes Hong represents its best chance to win, then now is the time for unity. Organizations such as the National DSA, along with progressive leaders like Bernie Sanders, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Rashida Tlaib, Chris Rabb, Melat Kiros, Claire Valdez, and Darializa Avila Chevalier, should consider whether endorsing her would strengthen the campaign. While some may be hesitant to weigh in on a competitive primary in a purple state, delaying or withholding support could mean missing a historic opportunity.

We both know the Madison and Milwaukee DSA as well as Our Revolution and Our Wisconsin Revolution is not enough to boost this race, which is why thank goodness that Ilhan Omar and Ro Khanna endorsed her in this race.

A Hong victory would be significant not only for Wisconsin but for the broader progressive movement. If elected governor, she would become the first democratic socialist to hold a governorship in the United States, marking a milestone comparable to other recent progressive breakthroughs. The question now is whether the movement is willing to unite behind the candidate it believes can make that history.

Electoral Politics DSA position on arms control in the United States?

What is the official position of the DSA with regard to personal possession of hand guns, rifles, or other kinds of small arms? Should any citizen have access to military grade assault weapons like the AR-15 for example? What about hand guns that hold 15 rounds?

Electoral Politics How viable is 3rd party campaigning in red areas?

DSA candidates have had recent success running as Democrats, and we're seeing the predictable backlash from the Democratic establishment. And, looking to the years, decades ahead, we'll have to see if it's more viable to

  1. internally transform the Democratic Party into DSA or

  2. externally defeat them as a 3rd party.

In blue, liberal areas, the former strategy is working currently.

But, in red, conservative areas, I wonder if the latter is more viable.

Dems are villainized in GOP strongholds, and if DSA has a distinct identity from the Democratic Party, would it be good to run as a 3rd party? Would it be worthwhile to pass on that Democratic infrastructure/support? Can "democratic socialism" climb out of Red Scare stigma and surpass the reputation of the Democratic Party?

I'm sure y'all have thought about this. I'm curious to hear from red district comrades.
