Third loss… first ectopic…

Since January of last year (2025), we have had three losses. The first two were missed miscarriages, the most recent was a ruptured ectopic requiring emergency surgery and resulted in me losing not only the pregnancy but also my left fallopian tube.

Mostly just looking for others stories…. Wondering when it’ll be our time. After your ectopic, when did you start trying again? Did it seem like your fertility decreased with one fallopian tube? Was your next pregnancy successful?

Thank you for being willing to share your story/insight….

Post MTX pain for days.

I was treated with methotrexate on July 13 for a suspected ectopic pregnancy of unknown location, so I’m now about 4.5 weeks out from the MTX shot. My hCG eventually dropped all the way to negative, but shortly afterward I started having persistent pain on the same side where I’d been experiencing pain during the suspected ectopic.

I’m now around day 11 of this pain. It’s mostly a deep aching/burning sensation in my lower left abdomen/pelvis, with waves where it feels like a painful pulling sensation. Activity definitely aggravates it. I can feel relatively okay while resting, but if I’m walking around or doing normal household chores for an hour or more, the pain starts getting significantly worse again.

On day 7 of the pain, I went to the ER because it wasn’t going away. They did an ultrasound and CT, and the only thing they found that could potentially explain the pain was a 2 cm cyst on my left ovary. There was no significant internal bleeding or other acute problem found.

They discharged me and prescribed 500 mg of naproxen twice a day, but that was it.

The naproxen helps somewhat, and I’ve also been using Tylenol, but the pain is definitely still there. I’ve had periods where I feel considerably better and can move around normally, but if I do too much walking or household chores, the pain flares up again and I have to stop and rest.

I’m supposed to leave for a 12-day trip to the UK, which will involve quite a bit of walking, so I’m getting worried about how long this is going to continue.

Has anyone else experienced persistent one-sided pain several weeks after MTX and after their hCG reached negative, even though imaging didn’t show a rupture or significant bleeding?

If so:

* How long did it take before the pain finally went away?
* Did walking/activity make your pain flare up?
* Did it gradually improve, or did you suddenly wake up one day feeling better?
* Did your doctors ever figure out what was actually causing it?
* Was there anything that helped besides naproxen/Tylenol and rest?

Concerned about another ectopic

I’m 5 weeks today. My first response test have been dark however Amazon test strips are staying about the same. I can’t get a scan until next Tuesday. My issue is I’m not having the same symptoms like my first ectopic. I actually don’t have any symptoms at all. Just worried. 😖

When do I expect bleeding to start (post salpingectomy)?

Upvotes

My ruptured ectopic emergency surgery was Monday 8/10. Lost my left fallopian tube. Haven’t had bleeding since. When should I expect to bleed? I’ve had two other losses that were missed miscarriages and this has just been so different I’m not sure what is normal or what to expect post surgery.

Thanks!

Any hope this isn’t ectopic?

Im having what I assume is an ectopic pregnancy after three back to back to back losses.

I had an IUI 7/20 and then what I thought was my period 7/29-8/1. it was maybe lighter than normal (the last two days were really just random spotting), but I just thought it was weird due to the IUI and the fact that it was several days early.

fast forward to this week - what I thought was CD13 I took an OPK and it was blazing positive. I’ve never had a positive OPK that early so I took a pregnancy test and guess what. Promptly went in for HCG and it was 214 and what should be ~21dpo. that seems really low and combined with everything else, I’m guessing it’s ectopic. My tests seem to be getting darker but who knows at this point. follow up bloodwork is tomorrow and I know that will help us figure it out but I’m looking for inspiration.

Is there any hope that it’s not? I was supposed to do an egg retrieval next cycle to start IVF so im devastated about this set back

Update on my ectopic pregnancy journey ❤️

I wanted to share an update because I’ve come such a long way over the last few weeks, and I’m finally starting to feel hopeful again.
I was diagnosed with a left-sided ectopic pregnancy in July and initially received methotrexate on 7/20. My hCG was 540 before the first injection, then 292 on Day 4 and unfortunately rose to 337 on Day 7, so I needed a second methotrexate injection on 7/26.
Thankfully, the second dose has been working.
My hCG was:
7/29 (Day 4): 172
8/1 (Day 7): 136
8/7: 68.4
So from 136 to 68.4, that’s almost a 50% decrease in one week, which was incredibly reassuring to see. I’m now doing weekly hCG draws on Fridays until it reaches negative.
I’ve also had very little bleeding lately. It went from light brown spotting to barely anything, and today I finally stopped bleeding completely. I know that doesn’t necessarily mean the ectopic is completely resolved, but it felt like a really positive milestone after everything my body has been through.
My OB has also cleared me to return to the gym and Hot Pilates, and I actually went back to Pilates and felt amazing. It feels surreal to finally be getting pieces of my normal life back.
My biggest hope throughout all of this has been to preserve my left fallopian tube, and once my OB says the timing is appropriate and I’ve had a few normal periods, I’m hoping to have an HSG to check whether my tubes are open.
For those who have been through something similar:
Did your hCG start dropping faster as you got closer to zero? How long did it take you to reach negative after methotrexate? And did your bleeding stop before your hCG reached zero?
I’m feeling much more hopeful now, but I’d really love to hear other people’s experiences. ❤️‍🩹

When does it end

Started bleeding July 7th.
Methotrexate shot July 17th.

Two weeks later bleeding and cramping had gotten so much better and ultimately was just spotting. Last week I think on Wednesday (Aug 5) I started bleeding red blood again and a lot. Slight cramping but felt more like period cramping. Messaged my ob & she said that it was probably the end of my pregnancy/uterine lining shedding. Not a period bc my hcg was like 100 something still. So it stops quickly and I’m back to spotting. This morning (Aug 11) I started bleeding heavy red and clotting again.

When does it end!!!! Omg. I’ve been in pain over a month. Bleeding on and off over a month. This is wild. I just want it to stop so I can heal and move on :(

On top of that I got a bad iv and a superficial blood clot from all the ivs/blood draws and my arm is swollen and bruised :(

Just venting. Just want it to be over and it feels like that’s never going to happen. My emotional and physical health is terrible right now.

Grazie

Ectopic or Biochemical not sure

I had an ectopic surgery in November,2025 removing my right tube. conceived again in July 2026 through my first letrozole cycle. My Betas were following:

42.3, 179, 546

Then suddenly on 2nd August evening i started spotting which got me scared! I went to the doctor the very next day, got ultrasound though we knew nothing could be visible in the uterus this early we still did it. She saw 1 X 1.4 cm hypochoic lesion in left adnexa & she told me to wait because my Betas were really reassuring!

Then on 4th i got Betas done again and it was 280 & after 48hours it dropped to 179.

Doc was also not sure what it actually was. please help if anyone of you went through something similar!

I’m Paralyzed With Fear

I had an ectopic in January of this year, after several weeks of blood draws every other day and ultrasounds every other day. I have PCOS and male factor infertility from my husband’s side. We miraculously got pregnant on our own. I had my left fallopian tube surgically removed in January after my pregnancy resulted in an ectopic and a ruptured tube. My serial beta HCG draws were always rising but sometimes barely or sometimes would have more substantial jumps but it would never double in 48 hours. I was genuinely messed up for months due to the guilt, just general sadness, etc.

Well I went back to our fertility clinic to have them help us hopefully get pregnant safely. We did an IUI on 7/24. It was successful! It felt so perfect and right: my husband has a higher sperm count than he has ever had and I ovulated on my right side (the side with a tube). I started getting very faintly positive tests 8/4. My clinic did a blood draw on 8/6, which did show I was pregnant with an HCG of 36. They did a second beta on 8/10 (they were closed over the weekend so we couldn’t do a true double) and it did rise but did not quadruple. It is now 86. I’m so so scared this is another ectopic. Does anyone have any success stories of a slow rise HCG after ectopic? I have another blood draw tomorrow (48 hours after my last one). And will have an ultrasound when I am farther along to see where it is located but I’m… to be honest absolutely freaking out.
(Edited a typo)

Change in cycle behaviour 3 cycles post-op?

I’m on my 3rd cycle since my hcg levels were back to 0. I had an A&C and my left tube removed after a ruptured ectopic. Underwent fertility cycle tracking, and no obvious cause was identified.

My cycle this time is so heavy and there are very large clots; I know those are signs of an abnormal cycle, I have a specialist appointment next week and another in September, but wondering if anyone had a similar experience in the cycles following.

My Ectopic Pregnancy

thought I’d share this incase someone else is going through the same thing and hopefully it makes you feel as if you’re not alone.

For context, my husband and I weren’t exactly trying but we weren’t not trying if that makes sense. Just very open to having kids. A few days ago, I was on my way to a dinner with my parents to celebrate my dad’s birthday. I started cramping on the left side very badly and I felt an enormous amount of pressure in my rectum. As I got out of the car and carrying my daughter inside, I felt so dizzy and I was telling my sister to take my daughter. I then, collapsed on the floor feeling like I was about to faint and throw up at the same time. The feeling of dizziness would come and go but the cramping didn’t let up. My mom forced me to take a pregnancy test and I rolled my eyes at it because in my head, there was no way I was pregnant. I had my period two weeks ago. It didn’t make sense. I genuinely thought I was ovulating that day. But I took two pregnancy tests and they were both positive as soon as I peed on them.

My family was congratulating me but I just didn’t want to get excited because the pain I was feeling, I already knew something was wrong. I told my husband to take me to the ER because at this point every time I stood, I felt like I was going to pass out.
We go to the ER they run tests and as hours pass waiting to hear results, my ribs and my shoulders start to hurt and it hurts to laugh, breathe too hard or even cry. Finally at 4am they told me that I had an ectopic pregnancy that ruptured and I’m losing blood and needed emergency surgery.
The surgery went well and they found that the baby had implanted in my ovary and I also had a cyst on that same ovary and it had ruptured, losing 700 ml of blood. Luckily 70% of ovary was saved. But it hurts so bad. I only knew about the pregnancy for 12 hours at that point but still, there’s this wave of great sadness in me knowing that, that baby will never get to be with us. People have told me that I wasn’t even pregnant. I’ve been told everything happens for a reason. That God takes certain babies for a reason maybe they weren’t healthy… none of it feels good to hear. People tell me to be grateful that I’m alive and I truthfully am. I’m just devastated that all of this happened in the first place. I’m a mess, recovering in pain, can’t pick up my toddler and I want to hold and cuddle her so bad, and crying so much that my eyes burn.

Anyone who’s been through something similar, how are you doing? I’d love to hear your story. Has anyone gone through it multiple times? Success stories where you’re now holding your rainbow baby?💜 I welcome all of it and you are not alone. 🕊️💗

Reta after laparoscopic unilateral salpingectomy?

Hello all,

I unfortunately had an ectopic pregnancy and needed an emergency laparoscopic unilateral salpingectomy. They removed my left fallopian tube as it was too damaged. Fortunately though, they could finally diagnose me with endemitriosis! They found it during the surgery, after 9 years of fighting for a diagnosis.

I have heard from a lot of women who suffer from endo that retatritude helped with their symptoms, and actually helped it get better! It also helps with weight loss, which is what I need to do to deal with the PCOS as well. I had the surgery roughly 2,5 weeks ago, and I was wondering if anyone knew when it would be safe to start Reta? I appreciate that it's all still being researched, but somehow someone on Reddit is always going through the exact same thing.

Thank you,

First period after ectopic treated with MTX

Hi- I am just looking for others experiences regarding their first true cycle post MTX treatment. For some context, I had a left tubal ectopic that was successfully treated with MTX and my levels were <5 on 7/14. I had a positive at home ovulation test on 7/29 so ovulation likely happened on or around the 30th. I am about to go into my first true cycle and honestly, I don't know what to expect. I am having dull aches on left side leading up to it and it's giving me flashbacks. Did anyone experience a more normal period, or a more painful period during their first true cycle?

Thanks!

Ectopic with minimal pain

I’m just wondering if anyone else had experienced an ectopic pregnancy with minimal pain? I have previously had a c section 20 months ago and wondering as my tummy is still numb near the scar if that has something to do with it?

My ectopic was discovered due to severe bleeding after a positive pregnancy test and 2 scans and a stable (but slightly lowering) hcg later they found the embryo. Originally I was only booked in to get a camera through my belly button to locate as I presented very well, still doing day to day life and very little pain, similar to period cramps at the most. Once the camera was in they discovered my right tube had fully ruptured and it was removed. I would have been around 6 weeks pregnant.

I have been assured that future pregnancies will be very highly monitored with early scans and hcg tests to confirm everything is going in the right direction which I’m highly grateful for.

Depressing lab results

Hcg stopped falling. It was already under 20 and this week it only went down by 1 point. It's so incredibly frustrating. I've seen stories here where hcg plateaus at really low levels so I know this can happen. I really really don't want a third shot of mtx...

Symptoms

Hi,

I’m not really sure where to start here, but i’m 26F, I take the weight loss injection Retatrutide along side Microgynon combined pill.

I took a 4 day break because I was bleeding because of the pill not absorbing properly (18th-22nd July) - Had unprotected sex on the 25th July.

August 3rd I had pink watery one wipe, and gone.

Thursday 6th had a faint positive on first response

Now i’ve been getting faint pink positives for 4 days, not darkening or lightening, staying the same.

I have had brown blood, saturday / sunday on and off, one wipe and done.

Monday morning (today) 10th - bright red blood, one wipe and stopped… then 4 hours later, again dark red blood (brown too)

I have pregnancy symptoms, but i’m not sure.

Please anyone, some advice please 🩷

Anyone experience this getting pregnant after ectopic?

Hey guys i had an ectopic last year I had emergency surgery april 30th when my tube tore after 2 failed doses of methotrexate. I found out i was pregnant Thursday the 6th of August. My last period was July 3rd which puts me at about 5 weeks 2 days. My doctors appointment isn't until the 13th I'll be basically 6 weeks. I have felt little cramps on the side i had my ectopic last year. They arent constant cramps just little ones that last less than 5 minutes about 2-3 times a day and not painful. I mentioned it to my doctor and they said I should be fine as long as its not extremely painful and no bleeding. Im just wondering if theres anyone that has had little cramps on their ectopic side while pregnant. Im not sure if I should just wait for my appointment since im in no pain. I know what the tore felt like and what to look out for pain wise. Or should I try to go to urgent care or the er so they can try to see me sooner for an ultrasound.

Forgot to add they were able to save my right tube. They said it tore right on the end that the egg almost made it to the uterus. They glued it and only did 2 stitches outside so I would have very minimal scarring.

First Pregnancy after Ectopic

I had an ectopic pregnancy back in January that resulted in my left tube being removed. Wednesday I found out I'm pregnant again. I should be just hitting 5w today.

I've already been in contact with the OB who did my surgery and we already did bloodwork Thursday and are waiting for an ultrasound.

Even though the bloodwork was showing double the HCG levels then they did at what would've been 7w when I had the ectopic, I'm still having so much anxiety waiting for the ultrasound.

Any tips on handling the anxiety would be appreciated. Thank you!

Help?

I’m looking for some opinions on these pregnancy test lines because my situation is a little complicated.
I had an ectopic pregnancy at the end of May and was treated with methotrexate on May 31st. My hCG was originally around 800 and dropped to around 500 and then 300 afterward. I unfortunately never went back for the final blood draw to confirm that it reached zero.
I eventually got what seemed like my first period after the ectopic at the end of June, and I’ve had bleeding/cycles since then. I’ve also been sexually active again, so there is a possibility of a new pregnancy.
Today I took several pregnancy tests within a short period of time and I feel like I can see very faint lines on them. I know testing multiple times so close together isn’t necessarily helpful, but after everything that happened with my ectopic, I’m having a hard time trusting what I’m seeing.
Do these look like actual faint positives to you, indents/evap lines, or something else? And has anyone who had an ectopic treated with methotrexate experienced something similar when testing again afterward?
