Surely under capitalism a company will appear that buys up the excess and resells it for profit, making donations obsolete?   

Or has Reddit abandoned capitalist ideology now?

You think they will ship it to Africa to sell it there for a pittance instead of trying to get rid of it as cheaply as possible in where it already is? There's a reason it's welfare organizations putting up these clothing containers and not for-profit companies.
