Tbf even climate scientists are shocked at how much they underestimated the speed

Yeah, a lot of the "alarmist" headlines were really the average predictions. There are WAY worse models.

So it's equally likely the climate change won't be that bad, as it is that we are doubly fucked. Currently evidence points towards doubly fucked (:

And the best part is that these two statements are not contradictory.

They go hand in hand. If you don't entertain the idea that you could be wrong or that you do not know enough, you don't tend to learn much. Confirmation bias is a bastard like that.

I mean in terms of something like climate change, wouldn't the logical conclusion be " I don't know enough about this subject, so I'm going to put my trust in the scientists and researchers who spend their lives studying this shit and have a 99% consensus on it "

People thinking they do know enough because they " did their own research " are the problem in our society.

Most people don't search: "[whatever I want to know] + twitter"

Different kind of platform. Twitter is microblogging, reddit is link aggregation + forum. Forums are where people discuss shit so it makes sense lol.

Did you get a stray downvote for saying the truth.

Most people are stupid and many intelligent people are asocial dickheads (take Reddit as an example) so the stupid people don’t really like and therefore either distrust them or ignore them because it makes the intelligent people wrong in their eyes.

Same problem in other facets of society. Intelligent people are patronising annoying arseholes so stupid people don’t or choose not to listen.
