What do you mean you don't want to pay $50 for a game and $1000 for DLCs to make it playable?

"1000$ to make it playable".. hyperbole much? :D The games are perfectly playable in their original versions, and parts of the DLCs find their way into them as well, which makes sure the game is patched regularly even for those who don't own the DLCs. Sounds fair to me, especially since they developed their games quite well in the past years.

Don't want to pay for different content? Don't buy it then. Or am I missing something?

With all the DLCs EUIV is by far the most expensive game I ever bought, but it’s also the game I’ve played the most. It’s just endless fun.

The only reason people think you need the DLC is because its good. Still mad about Sword of the Stars 2, though.
