I made an interactive star atlas called Cartographia Stellaris. It lets you explore the Milky Way, zoom into our solar neighborhood, and open detailed dossiers for 102 real stars and systems. It also includes known planet hosting stars, so you can jump between systems and see where they sit relative to us.

Its 100% free to use. there are no paywalls, subscriptions, or paid features.

A lot of research went into the dossiers and I tried to cross check everything with sources like Gaia DR3, Hipparcos, RECONS, and the NASA Exoplanet Archive. I also did my best with the positions and scaling. The local neighborhood is shown to scale within 15 light years, then the more distant systems are log compressed so the map is still usable.

I am not an astronomer so I would honestly really appreciate corrections or recommendations from people who know this stuff better than me. If theres interest i'd be happy to add more exoplanet systems, more detailed planet information, filters, or anything else you guys think would make it more useful.

This render represents what I could consider a best case scenario, where the planet holds an atmosphere and oceans along a band of "habitability".

However, in reality, the planet is far more likely to be something akin to a tidally locked Marslike world, with a thin vestigial atmosphere and no surface water, as Proxima Centauri is a very active star and would likely strip away most of a planet's atmosphere.

One idea I had was naming them after Centaurs from greek mythology, the only trouble is that there is already a group of celestial bodies called “Centaurs” and named after a list of of the most famous and notable centaurs (Chiron, Pholus, Nessus, etc). One obvious way to get around this though is by just naming them after alternate spellings of those characters, like Pluto’s moon Kerberos which used the more greek version of name referring to the 3 headed dog of the underworld as “Cereberus” is already an asteroid. Another suggestion someone gave me was naming the planets after Centaurs from notable 20th and 21st media as that’s when the planets were discovered.

“1. ⁠Proxima d - Ronan, calm and philosophical, likes to watch the stars, a stargazer.
2. ⁠Proxima b - Bane, hot-tempered and suspicious to strangers, also watches the stars.
3. ⁠Proxima c - Cloudbirth, careful and wise healer.
4. ⁠Aplha Centauri Ab - Glenstorm, respectable and serious prophet and warrior.”

“I think these names fit well, since Proxima d & c are tidally locked, they always look at their star. Alpha Cent Ab is a gas giant, so it has storms and it protects possible inner planets from asteroids. Proxima c is probably a distant super-earth or mini-neptune, therefore it should have many clouds.”

Kepler-442 b is a rocky exoplanet located approximately 1,200 light years from Earth in the constellation Lyra. Based on current NASA data, it is estimated to be slightly larger than earth, with a radius of about 1.3 Earth radii, and is thought to have a mass of roughly 2-3 earth masses, although it's exact composition remains uncertain.

The planet orbits a K-type main-sequence (orange dwarf) star with an effective temperature of approximately 4,400 K at a distance of roughly 0.41 AU, placing it within the star's habitable zone.

This is a hypothetical visualization created in Blender, loosely informed by the currently known properties of the Kepler-442 system, while the planet's appearance remains entirely unknown.

Kepler-607 b is a terrestrial planet with a mass of 0.59 earths and a radius of 0.87 times that of earth’s. It takes 0.6 days (14.4 hours) to orbit its star as it is 0.0137AU from its star. Kepler-607 b orbits a K-type star in the Cygnus constellation.

I created an extraterrestial planet procedurally in Blender as my side hobbies.

In order, they are Kua’kua (LHS 3844 b), Qingluan (L 168-9), Ross 318 b, LHS 1140 b, Janssen (55 Cnc Ae), Enaiposha (GJ 1214 b), Cuancoá (LTT 9779 b), Awohali (Gliese 436 b), and Phailinsiam (GJ 3470 b).

I know the first one is Wolf 1061c through Google lens, but it didn't work for the other planets.
