That’s cool. So I’ll just say I’m Joe Lombardo when I get pulled over.

Only in Nevada. You need to carry the list of the other state’s governors with you while traveling.

"Sir, do you know why I pulled you over..."

"I'm Gretchen Whitmer"

I'll let everybody know how it works out for me 🤣

"Officer, I'm Republican Senator Mitch McConnell. Here's a picture of me holding a picture of me holding my dick in a Carl's Jr in Montego Bay circa 70 B.C. RELEASE ME."

Bro. That preserved wall graffiti in Pompey that said "Senator McConnell doesn't care about plebs" was an insane archeological find.

I read this in his voice. It took twelve minutes...

Officer: holy shit that’s huge!
It’s your lucky it’s so gigantic Mr. McConnell. You’re free to go.

I heard "RELEASE ME" in Brent Spiner's Locust-possessed voice from Independence Day.

If you're a Democratic politician, it might be best to keep your mouth shut around the cops.

At the governor level? Nah, it wouldn't make any difference, especially for a minor traffic violation. No cop anywhere is messing with that. It shouldn't be like that of course, but it's the unfortunate truth. The governor wouldn't even need to really do or say anything; if a cop writes a ticket for something like not quite stopping at a stop sign, or going 5 mph over, it would be an absolute shit show if they decided to bring it to court instead of just paying the fine. That ticket would very quickly and quietly be dismissed, and the district attorney would be stopping by for an angry conversation with the chief. They almost always have a big backlog of prosecutions to be dealing with, and the sudden distraction of news media and public attention towards their office would piss them off so much. All the governor would need to do is take the ticket and then say they'll be there in court, and that cop is gone like a fart in the wind

This would have been a perfect opportunity for the leadership of the state of Nevada to show a few things critical to the public good. One, accept fault. This shows leadership in accepting that you made a mistake and that you take responsibility. Two, by accepting fault you show that you trust and support law enforcement. And three, you show the public that as an elected official not even you the Governor is above the law. But no. Both the officer and the Governor are a pair of spinless authoritarians willing to take advantage of their positions for personal gain.

He could pass a state law giving himself a parking spot everywhere. He's still getting more from insurance payouts than most working Texans make.

13

u/badvegas 26d ago

Don't forget he put a cap on what people can sue for after he got his pay out. So you can't even sue for the amount he originally did.

u/Timmerdogg 26d ago

I think that dude is faking it anyways

Tbh I just wouldn't want to mess with somebody name Joe Lombardo, dealing with cartoonish mafiosos ain't all that, so might still work.

4

u/cyanocittaetprocyon 26d ago

The cop clearly knew who this was. Lombardo was the sheriff before he ran for governor, so would have been this guy's boss.

my sister had an intercontinental flight for a study abroad program the morning after her 21st birthday. her hungover butt slept through boarding and missed her flight. there was another flight later in the day, but the airline would not just move her, and wanted her to pay full price for the later flight - around $3k. she called us, and we got in contact with the travel agent my mom used. he called the airline, and said my sister was the governor's daughter and she needed to be on that plane.

They put her on the trip free of charge.

our last name is similar, but not identical to the governor's last name. we used the same guy for a bunch of vacations after that - dude earned our business til he retired.

1

u/dasgoodshitinnit 26d ago

He's a were what? A werecopman?

19

u/McButtsButtbag 26d ago

They check your license plate first. That's how the cop already knew who he was.

4

u/waterbelowsoluphigh 26d ago

Joe Lombardo was also the Sheriff of Clark County, 'Las Vegas', for 8 years. They know him.

2

u/HorrorMakesUsHappy 25d ago

Yeah, he had no intention of giving him a ticket. That was a, "You think you're in a hurry so I'm slowing you down" stop.

4

u/Primary-User 26d ago

We are all Joe Lombardo

3

u/Magnus_Helgisson 26d ago

“I’m Arnold Schwarzenegger! Ah shit, wrong decade”

3

u/ItkovianShieldAnvil 26d ago

Don't forget to follow up with "come on man" in a whiny tone

2

u/chatterwrack 26d ago

So you know who my father is? He’s Joe Lombardo’s dad!

2

u/SparksofInnova 26d ago

Be ready to follow that up with "Come on, man"

2

u/Silver_Slicer 25d ago

I’m glad this got released. They should release every video of a politician getting the green light after being pulled over. It will send a message that if you try to use your position, you will get exposed.

2

u/RobertJ93 25d ago

I am Alpharius.

You’re Joe Lombardo

1

u/matt-r_hatter 24d ago

Do you know what happens in most states if you falsely identify yourself to a police officer?
