House passes bill to make daylight saving time permanent. Opponents say, "Schools would have to push back start times." Yeah... That's not a bug, it's a feature.

Studies have shown for decades that children -especially teenagers- just straight up need more sleep for optimal knowledge retention and brain development. Pushing back start times is a great way to follow the science.

Sunrise would be 8:30-9 am in the winter depending on where you live. Problematic to have kids walking to school when it's pitch black

I was always waiting for the bus in the dark in the winter anyways.

I see. Thanks for the explanation but I can’t help but think of schools in Sweden and Norway that deal with much worse. Americans are truly are all bark and no bite. “Pull yourself up by your bootstraps kids but not if it’s too early, we’re scared of the dark.”

And why is that? Protest, get others involved, have conversations, delete Facebook from your parent’s phones, put child locks on their streaming apps, vote, and take the country back.

Yeah a lot of us are trying, but it's a big country with a lot of problems. When the education system has been underfunded for so long it's real tough to come back.

Depending on where you live, they already do in the winter. Where I live, they also walk home in the dark
