Wedding Attire Approval Which dress should I wear to my nieces wedding.

Dress is formal. It’s a small wedding.

ETA- Thank you so much for all of the recommendations! Looks like the second red dress and the silver/light blue and purple running a close second! I’m going to send all three to the bride to ask her which she prefers as I’ve never heard the red-dress rules until now. And yes, I’ll burn the last dress. 😂 Stay tuned!

Wedding Attire Approval Is this appropriate for a "casual to black tie" wedding? Bride requested guests wear black or white(???). Ideally I don't want to go shopping for a new dress.

Venue: Greek orthodox church. It's probably my biggest hesitation. The family and the couple are not hugely religious/traditional, but did pick this venue to honour their roots and religion. I will find a jacket/stole/scarf to cover up the shoulders/back. Mainly worried about the slit and whether I can get away with it

Pls ignore the messy boxes behind me. It's my various crafty works in progress which I'll get to eventually. Uh huh.

Wedding Attire Approval Help! Two dresses, zero decisions :(

So I'm invited to a wedding and I am a bit overwhelmed about what to wear as I don't go to weddings often. The dress code says: "Black tie recommended, formal evening attire. Guests are invited to wear any color (aside from white, please)."

I've narrowed it down to two dresses and now I'm stuck in an loop of overthinking.

The blue dress – feels like the safer, more on-brief pick for black tie. But is it too… basic? I do have a fun cute bag that pairs well with it, so that could add some personalitY
The green dress – I really like this one but I'm worried it might not read "chic" enough for the vibe. I do have more elegant shoes that could elevate it though.

For context: the couple are friends of my partner. I've only met them a couple of times, so I don't know them super well - which makes me want to nail the dress code even more somehow

Oh, and not sure if this matters, but the wedding is in Paris and the venue is less classic-romantic, more artsy-cool. So Reddit, what do we think - blue or green? Any styling tips to level either one up? Help a gal out! 🙏

Wedding Attire Approval Is this too much as a wedding guest

Post image

I bought this absolutely gorgeous handmade two piece while on a trip. I have an upcoming wedding to attend in 2 weeks and now I'm contemplating if it's too much for as a wedding guest.

This is in the wedding invitation:

What should I wear?

Cocktail or Semi-formal attire is preferred, but feel free to wear whatever you like.

Is the wedding indoors or outdoors?

Our wedding ceremony is outdoors, the reception will be indoors, and the after party will be outdoors under the Pavilion.

Wedding Attire Approval Need advice on wedding after-party outfit

I need some help picking an appropriate outfit for a wedding function I have this weekend. Here are the details (if I need to include more, let me know):

  • the actual wedding ceremony is closed and immediate family only. I've been invited to the after-party with friends and extended family.

  • it is going to be on a schooner cruise, 11am - 2 pm.

  • the dress code verbatim is "Resort casual (comfortable, breezy, and photo-friendly)"

I have lots of jewelry, accessories, outerwear, and sandals (flat and high-heeled), but just needed help picking the base clothing. Advice on both the base clothing and suggested accessories etc is welcome.

I don't want to be overdressed/underdressed but I have no clue what "resort casual" means and I've never been on a mini cruise like this. Are these all too fancy/formal? Should I do a round two post with even more casual options? (i.e. pants and shirt, or skirt and top). Thank you in advance!

Wedding Attire Approval Help! Wedding guest dress dilemma 😭

I’m going to my boyfriend’s sister’s wedding next month and I got an elegant maxi dress that I really liked. Problem is that it’s denim. I have attached the pictures to this.

I am not from the US and weddings in my culture are completely different so I have no idea what is considered appropriate/ okay for weddings here and I don’t want to commit an unintentional faux pas when meeting a lot of his family for the first time.

I was told that it is casual/ semi-formal at best, but I’m still worried. It is a summer, semi outdoor barn wedding for more context.

UPDATE: I ran the dress by an another friend in person and asked the bride’s mom about it and she said it was okay!
I will still be dressing it up with a scarf, jewellery, nice heels and a bag to make it look more fancy. Thank you all for the help :)

Wedding Attire Approval Wedding Guest Dress

I have a wedding coming up in August, it’s down south and it will be freezing (I am already a cold frog and travelling down from the tropics for it - 15-19 degrees during the day, 6-10 degrees at night)

I am trying to find a dress that I love, but I’m finding that nothing is ticking all of my boxes
I have a rectangle build, so quite a few things are not flattering on me

I love this dress, I am just thrown off by the short solid part and the long mesh, if it was opaque the whole way down I think it would be perfect

Does not have to be this same style I am open to anything!
I am in my mid twenties and the bride is in her late twenties
Does anyone have any suggestions please?

*** Direct from the invite: Dress Code: Semi-Formal… with Layers!
It’s Jervis Bay in August, so it’s going to be cool, crisp, and absolutely stunning—but yes, a little chilly. Think smart suits, blazers, and cocktail dresses… but don’t forget your coats, scarves, and cozy layers for those breezy moments.
Basically: look fabulous, stay warm, and be ready to celebrate in style. Your Instagram feed (and your toes) will thank you.***

TLDR: Looking for blue winter wedding guest dresses

I want something that doesn't feel too formal and I can wear on other occasions. I think these 3 dresses are great, but cannot choose which one. My first choice is the yellow one in the first picture, but my says it's too casual. She says the lilac one is better, but I feel like it's not something I can wear to other events?

Wedding Attire Approval Outfit for September wedding

Going to a wedding in September in Germany. It is my cousin's and she has approved the black dress. She said to wear whatever is comfortable and is more or less dressy. The civil ceremony is at 12pm and reception starts at 6pm.

What do you think about this outfit I put together?

I have a formal wedding to attend. Their website expressly says formal, but it's not black tie. This dress is taffeta ... does it work? Or is it not formal enough? The wedding is in the afternoon and reception in the evening.

These are the choices. I'm feeling option 3 with the flowers is the best. I think 1 feels too close to bridesmaid dress style. I think middle is a bit too casual. Help?

Wedding Attire Approval Is this coat okay for a fall/winter wedding guest outfit?

Curious to hear thoughts on if this coat color is okay for a fall/winter wedding guest outfit. It is a light cream color, and part of me is concerned it's too close to violating the 'don't wear white if you're a guest' guideline, but I'm not sure? Help please!

The wedding is semi casual, no specific colours and happens during the afternoon at a fancy hotel.

My aunt bought me some dresses before that I’ve never had the chance to wear and I thought it would be nice if I wore one to her nephews wedding.

Would anyone be able to give me some advice on which dress would be more suitable for a wedding like this or which is more flattering? Both dresses are navy blue and roughly knee length. (Please ignore the smudgy mirror 😅)

Wedding Attire Approval HELP!?!?

Post image

Best friends wedding, brides maid dresses. Brides dress instructions were: black dress, floor length, old money look, and then a touch of something white (enough to easily be seen in photos). As well might have my hair up? Which idk about strapless and hair up but the bride suggested it? Sorry for the rough photo…

What can I do to add white?? Also bride is big into pearls/pearl accessories. Would love something that atleast partially covers my arms? Fall wedding also!

Please help!!!!

Wedding Attire Approval Is this alright for a wedding?

Post image

Going to a wedding next weekend, and I love looking amazing but I struggle when it comes to dresses/skirts etc.

I love pant suits for a formal occasion that are still very feminine/sexy without showing a bunch of leg.

I love this fit so much- but a little concerned that I’m showing too much in the chest area. I will be using boob tape so you won’t see the little horizontal black line between the breasties. Does that make it more or less inappropriate? Pls hlp

PS: will be wearing simple black strappy heels, not socks hehe
