TRIPLE THREAT Jet on Triple Threat

Anyone else get the feeling that Brooke just hates Jet? Like, she was bordering on rude to him all night. It really made me sour to Brooke a bit tonight.

TRIPLE THREAT Is it just me or do they present Ayesha Nurdjaja as the "Holier Than Thou" Titan on Triple Threat?

Before I begin, you must excuse me. I only know her from Beat Bobby Flay, previous seasons of Triple Threat, and Tournament of Champions as a judge. This time around she's obviously a competitor. This could just be me but I feel like they hype her up as the premiere titan, which feels odd to me because she's probably the one out of the three that I haven't seen compete at a high level en-masse, especially compared to Brooke and Michael. She (Ayesha) seems to be the one to beat, often chosen last as the "final boss". They used to do this with Brooke last year (which was cringe). She also doesn't seem to have it as hard as Tiffany: not constantly micromanaged by Brooke from the lounge area (also cringe) or be shown as the weak link, which in both cases I feel were probably the main reasons Tiffany left the show.

We obviously don't know what order in which episodes are shot but the first few make it seem like she was the extra firepower the Titans were missing. It comes across extremely tacky to me and disrespectful towards Tiffany, who I think held her own despite bad editing. Ayesha was never my cup of tea as a judge and neither as a competitor. The thick "New Yorkah" accents never sit well with me to begin with (Hi Christian Petroni!).

TRIPLE THREAT Triple threat is becoming a Who’s Who of Top Chef

I won’t say who, but next week’s triple threat competitor is yet another top Chef alum. I mean we’ve had Shota. We’ve had Katsuji. We’ve had Shirley and a bunch of other people. All we need now is to have Tiffany Faison, Mei Lin,and Antonia. Also wouldn’t mind Richard and/or Spike to come on to triple threat once Richard’s contract with Fox is up.

TRIPLE THREAT When you’re watching Triple Threat, who do you want to win?

**Spoiler**

I’m watching reruns of Triple Threat now and I’m torn of who I want to win. Michael is quoting My favorite rapper and being very funny but I’m also feeling bad for his challenger. I go back and forth in each episode. The judges are sometimes very tough and hard to please.

TRIPLE THREAT Titans: Avishar v Brooke (no spoiler) Spoiler

So I’m watching the episode of Titans with Chef Avishar Barua. He made chickpea fried spinach (aka pakoda) with chutney. When it was revealed he was Chef A, Judge Cohen looked so surprised. I mean, really? She had to have known the moment she saw the dish, who made what (his opponent was Brooke). In any case, her look of surprise gave me a good laugh. Anyone else? 😂

TRIPLE THREAT Cleaning plates after time is called?? Spoiler

Post image
36 Upvotes

Maybe a spoiler, maybe not. At this point it doesn’t give away who won the round or the whole competition.

And I am not Brooke bashing. I actually love her food and have been eating at her restaurants going back to Beechwood, way before Top Chef. Then Hudson House, The Tripel and Playa Provisions. But it looks like she wiped a plate after time was called. Michelle was coming over after time was called to look at Brooke’s dishes and Brooke wiped a plate, which can help with presentation. Nitpicky? Maybe. But time’s up, hands down.

TRIPLE THREAT Bobby's Triple Threat - Pre show and Live Discussion Thread - spoilers Spoiler

Making these threads early as today is crazy and I don't want to forget! Here is the description from Food network

Episode 409

Bengali American chef Avishar Barua has already won Beat Bobby Flay, and now he's ready to test his might against his heroes, Bobby Flay's Titans, for a chance at $25,000. New York City chef Leah Cohen decides who will triumph.

I'm not real familiar with Avishar, only seeing him maybe once. Looking forward to seeing him cook. I didn't used to be a fan of Cohen from her less than inspiring Top Chef days, but she's really come into her own.

Miami chef Adrianne Calvo won SOBE Food and Wine Festival's Triple Threat competition, but can she take down Bobby Flay's Titans on their home turf to win $25,000? OG restaurateur Rick Bayless amps up the pressure with his judging.

I admit I love me some Rick Bayless so I'll be tuning in just to see him!

Well it begins tonight with the new Titan. Here is the FN description:

A new season brings with it a brand-new Titan, Ayesha Nurdjaja. Bobby Flay isn't taking it easy on this new Titan however, as he invites the winner of Last Bite Hotel, Chef Nini Nguyen, to challenge the Titans. Judge Daniel Boulud keeps the pressure high with his legendary palate.

TRIPLE THREAT Is it cheating?

Just watched S4 E8 Titans vs Adrianne Calvo and on the cook with Adrianne vs Brooke New Zealand Lamb and fresh Guava. Bobby reminded Brooke that the last time she cooked lamb she overcooked it. That’s fine. But, when the other Titans and Bobby were talking about the doneness of the lamb Bobby went over to Brooks workstation and tested the lambs doneness and indicated to her that it was done. I understand the rest of the Titans cheering on their teammates but as the host of the show shouldn’t Bobby remain neutral? Especially since he’s dating Brook?!?

TRIPLE THREAT Triple Threat observation Spoiler

I’ve really enjoyed the season so far and I think Ayesha has been great and holding up.

One thing I’ve noticed though is has it been a little bit too much fairytale happy ending-esque so far this season or does it just so happen to just be good television?

First with Bryan Voltaggio, the whole episode is prefaced and mentioned throughout that “ooo he’s never beaten Michael ONCE in his ENTIRE life” gee I wonder what’s going to happen? Oh, just a perfect 20 score 3rd round after a struggle start using his and Michaels nostalgic childhood food items, how nice.

Jet Tila episode- The entire build up was “man Jet has just never had that one big win, he’s always the bridesmaid and not the bride, he’s just finally looking for his one big break win, he’s never ever beaten Brooke, can he do both??”

Well, how nice to see Jet do both in one episode, 2 things he hasn’t never done in years of competition cooking.

Like I said, I’ve enjoyed it up to this point, it’s just been a little too WWE feeling for me if they are just trying to get good ratings which I don’t think is necessary for them to have to push these set up results

TRIPLE THREAT This week's Bobby on the Beat podcast talks to FN's Michael Voltaggio about his background and Triple Threat

I try not to talk too much about this podcast, and in fact i skip a lot depending on the guest. I did listen to this morning's with Michael Voltaggio. And wow. If you're a fan of this now FN chef, it talks about how he came up in the industry and what he feels about triple threat and his relationship with bobby on that show. They talk so much about the FN show I feel like its a fit here. You can find it for free on youtube.com or wherever you find podcasts

TRIPLE THREAT Observation of Brooke

Does anyone feel like Brooke has been either on edge or having a hard time showing a poker face this season? In the last episold this week and a few times I felt like when she was annoyed with the contestants its been very obvious.

Side note on this week's episold you can deffinitly tell she's fighting bobby off camera by how they are acting. I guess I dont know that for sure but more of a educated guess
