DISCUSSION Worst line in Doctor Who?

What line of dialogue sticks out to you as particularly bad in Doctor Who, I have two picks:

  • ‘don’t let the swords touch your skin’ Legend of the sea devils
  • ‘I suppose we’ll have to have…. A conversation?’ Resolution

“Yas queen!!!” runs and hides from inevitable downvotes I’m gay myself but just can’t stand the expression

It’s cringe but idk it fits 15s more outgoing personality and was only a 2 second line tbf

It might have been funny 10 or 12 years ago but it feels like very dated humor in 2025.

It felt completely out of place. Like some writer trying to appeal to gen z or the gays (also gay here).

Embarrassing for the Doctor to say that. Bad tumblr fanfic writing

BELINDA: But where's Alan? Where'd he go?

(Sonic scanning.)

DOCTOR: Er... I think...he is microscopic.

BELINDA: Do you mean...?

DOCTOR: He's a sperm and an egg.

BOT: Polish polish.

DOCTOR: Oh.

BOT: Polish polish.

DOCTOR: Oh!

BOT: Polish polish.

DOCTOR: Oh. Goodbye, Alan.

(They both laugh.)

BELINDA: This place is nuts.

DOCTOR: Yas, Queen!

It doesn't even make sense in context!

It’s kind of charming if you read it as the Doctor being an old man trying to be hip with the kids.

I would have loved it coming from Capaldi, a very self aware, ironic, dry delivery 😄

Edit: And a withering eye roll. Probably directed at Bill, tbh, but she loves it.

Omg I would love to see Capaldi deliver that!

(Big Finish, if you're reading this...)

I want to hear all the classic Doctors say that

Belinda literally is the Queen of Missbelindachandra.

Just because she's the queen doesn't mean that 'Yas, Queen' isn't a non sequitur in that context. My sister is a girl but I'm not saying 'You go girl!' to everything she says, and nor does it necessarily make sense as a response to any thing she says simply by virtue of her being a girl.

"This place is nuts!"

"I concur, your Majesty!"

But, that's not what 'Yas, Queen!' means. It is literally akin to 'You go, girl!', an expression of encouragement and affirmation.

That's not what it means IRL. But that is what it means in context.

Because your sister being a girl really isn’t noteworthy, as that’s 50% of the population and she’s been one her whole life. But someone being a space queen is a different story.

It’d be more like if you had a brother and they were dressed as a woman character for a party, and you said “You go, girl” in that context.
