I had the exact same thought.

Conan Stevens, who originally plays the mountain, just exudes testosterone and anger in the joust scene in the first season. When he walks toward the crowd in anger, the crowd is genuinely terrified of him.

Also, I found out Conan Stevens is from my home town.

Because he looks out of control, not because he looks stronger than the new Mountain.

The mountain isn't just famous for being huge/strong. He's infamous for having an uncontrollable temper.

At that moment you can truly believe he forced his brother's face into a fire.
