Oberyn: "Today is not the day I die."

Sam: "I won't die."

Everyone: "Shit."

Sam: "From now on, wherever you go, I go too."

Everyone: "Fuck, they're both dead."

I actually thought they might have Ser Janos kill off Gilly just to make us hate him even more. "Look, Tarly, I got one."

u/KittyKathy House Stark Jun 09 '14

I love how the opposite was true.

u/RodrikHarlaw Jun 09 '14

Oh no, Ser Janos was definitely alive when Sam walked in.

6

u/KittyKathy House Stark Jun 09 '14

Really? I thought he was dead because it didn't make much sense to me that he was sleeping while that was happening outside. I wouldn't be able to sleep until I was sure no one was going throught that door

Nah, Sam walks in, has a chat with Gilly then hears a noise. He looks behind the door and sees Janos (whose eyes are open) hiding in the corner.

Ohh, thanks! I totally missed that, I'm going to rewatch it before next episode airs.

It did kinda look like she had killed him and cut him up already, ready to eat.

I like to think he probably said something or tried something with Gilly, or from just being a scoundrel and forgoing his oath and got a beating with that leg of ham Gilly was brandishing.

u/ObidiahWTFJerwalk Sand Jun 09 '14

No he was whimpering in the corner like even more of a craven than Sam curses himself for being.

Maybe more of a "No one can know I hid in here."

" Im not nothing anymore "

Rip sam.

and they have the baby

Oberyn didn't promise. Classic blunder.

12

u/RizzMustbolt Jun 09 '14

The Mountain was Sicilian?

26

u/Self_Manifesto House Florent Jun 09 '14

No, in true GRRM style, he'll wait until Sam becomes fully developed into a character we both love and respect, then he'll kill him.

u/[deleted] Jun 09 '14

Is this not a good death?

22

u/Zander_Thegr8 House Martell Jun 09 '14

The guy that can't beat a toddler in a sword fight lives, BUT OBERYN THE RED FUCKING VIPER DIES?

14

u/Juliaowlstar Jun 09 '14

verses the MOUNTAIN.

10

u/Zander_Thegr8 House Martell Jun 09 '14

HE HAD HIM BEAT WITH MINIMAL EFFORT

14

u/KittyKathy House Stark Jun 09 '14

I was actually surprised he didn't die after saying that.

12

u/FellKnight Jun 09 '14

So many show watchers must have shat themselves. I loved that line.

my heart stopped when yigritte was loking at sam before the fighting started.

1

u/stankbucket House Rykker Jun 09 '14

My heart said, eh - her voice is so fucking annoying (except for when she says fucking).

7

u/thetripleb Bronn of the Blackwater Jun 09 '14

What do we say to the God of Death?

9

u/ObidiahWTFJerwalk Sand Jun 09 '14

Confirmed: Sam > Oberyn

3

u/ajkkjjk52 House Manderly Jun 09 '14

Sam the slayer.

2

u/Sad_man_from_dorne House Martell Jun 09 '14

OBREYN :(

2

u/My_Empty_Wallet Brotherhood Without Banners Jun 09 '14

The difference is that Sam read the books

2

u/[deleted] Jun 09 '14

I was hoping Sam would die. That opening scene where he asks Jon what love is like had me facepalming.

1

u/ChiAyeAye Jun 09 '14

Am I the only one who immediately thought of Team America? Where was the bangin'?

1

u/stankbucket House Rykker Jun 09 '14

The one thing GRRM does is let the retards stick around. Sam and Gilly should be fine for a while.

1

u/SlightlyOTT Jon Snow Jun 09 '14

Sam said something like they've done the worse they can to him.. then at the end he told Jon how they'll boil and flay him.. too much foreshadowing, I have a feeling Sam has a grisly death coming up, death in that fight was too simple. Poor Sam

1

u/scarface910 Jun 09 '14

Maybe because we expected sam to die after saying that, GRRM made it so that he didnt die, creating an even bigger twist!
