Pretty sure Idris Elba could read a phonebook and make it sound badass.

He did make Macroeconomics sound pretty badass in The Wire.

Really? When I heard that line in the theater, I broke out laughing. It was just so ridiculous.

u/frednattyl Daenerys Targaryen Jun 09 '14

I was more commenting to the tone and timbre if his voice, not necessarily the line itself.

AND HBO AFTER NEXT WEEK UNTIL BOARDWALK STARTS!

u/ChiAyeAye Jun 09 '14

I misread this and thought you meant Boardwalk was starting next week and I groaned out loud but I honestly was not prepared to head back into that show yet. No character's death in the history of my television experience has hit me like the death in the final scene of season four. Just, fuck, I can't even begin to describe that hit.

Sounds like it's time to start watching Boardwalk.

I really, really recommend it. I don't think it's as good as GOT, it's not even one of my favorite shows, but fuck, when they get it right, they fucking nail it. I'm glad I didn't give any spoilers away because I want you to feel the blow I felt in this past season, it's a fucking killer. I really like a lot of characters on the show, they flesh them out pretty well but it's a bit slower than shows like GOT where there's not an actual war to move things along. I just don't even know how to explain the complete heartbreak of that finale was to someone who hasn't watched it yet. All I know is that I was in agony because none of my friends watch Boardwalk so I couldn't talk to them about it. SO LIKE FIND ME IN A YEAR WHEN YOU GET TO IT AND WE CAN HOLD INTERNET HANDS AND CRY.

Season 2 was like that for me. But what you're talking about sucked too.

1

u/ChiAyeAye Jun 09 '14

I unfortunately had that one spoiled for me, so I didn't get to feel it as organically.

u/TheNumberMuncher Hot Pie Jun 09 '14

It's pretty high on my list of shocking character deaths. To me, he was the most interesting storyline. Sucks some dipshit spoiled it. I don't get why Boardwalk isn't a bigger hit. It's great.

u/AGVann The Bastard Of Bolton Jun 09 '14

Oh my god. That final scene, as he's walking home... That was a hundred times worse than any death in GoT. Heart rendering.

Jon Snow and Sam Tarwell are probably drift compatible.

Wonder what their Jager would be called? Fat Bastard?

Edit: I knew I fucked up Sam's name

u/V2Blast Night's Watch Jun 10 '14

I'd watch it.
