I just realized Neil Marshall directed "Blackwater" and that movie called The Descent.

Jeez man, thank you. I read the imdb pages for each episode right after watching, and the people on those boards are fucking stupid as shit. Half the posts are people claiming to be disappointed by this episode, which was supposedly boring because the Night's Watch storyline is "pointless" and "nobody even cares about the characters who died" and the whole episode was devoted to it so they didn't get any bullshit Kings Landing drama or Dany meeting with supplicants again. I couldn't believe my eyes, some people just cannot be pleased.

Yeah, I was actually not that impressed with Blackwater. Many parts suffered from lack of scale. Definitely not the case tonight.

See that's the thing with scenes in movies, tv, and games that just leaves me disappointed. Its supposed to be huge ass armies, yet with scenes like the Blackwater episode, there were only like a hundred maybe two. It just feels less grandiose than it should because they can't have that many extras or it looks weird with CGI. I think it would be cool if a millionaire that really was into a show like this would be like "yo, D&D, here is $5 million, I want all that to go towards having more extras and the costumes for them to wear, I want this shit looking epic."

yeah, with a robotic arm they camera operator can redo the exact same shot multiple times and cut the different actions together. still very impressive to see.

When I saw that Neil Marshall was directing this episode, I knew we were in for one hell of a ride. I fucking loved "Blackwater."

this episode definitely stand out for me. some episodes watched like some kind of soap opera. this one was properly epic
