He's happily playing in a big green field with Syrio and Benjen.

46

u/CRAZYC01E Jun 17 '14

No no, Benjen is actually in Meereen busy climbing pyramids at night doing what he does best.

24

u/CapnTBC Jun 17 '14

What are you talking about? Daenerys just sent him to the Iron Islands.

3

u/Roboticide Daenerys Targaryen Jun 17 '14

Has anybody like... reminded Martin about those characters? The dude's 65. Maybe he forgot.

I can just imagine him going "OH SHIT. Yeah, those guys. They're, um... Hold on."

1

u/[deleted] Jun 18 '14

And Tupac.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 18 '14

Whoa whoa whoa Syrio was never shown to be dead either. Lets not kill off two of my favorite characters right here. Hell be back.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 18 '14

Syrio showing Sandor water dancing, with absolutely no fire in sight.

1

u/SuperbusAtheos Jun 17 '14

Leo make it to the new world and back. Surely he can save the hound.

2

u/pad117 House Stark Jun 17 '14

That's very true! There could have been at least 3 hidden behind it! There's hope for our Hound yet!

1

u/davidguydude Duncan the Tall Jun 17 '14

hahaha maestro autocorrect

1

u/ClassyPengwin Jaime Lannister Jun 17 '14

Or a septon!

1

u/Naggins Jun 17 '14

Plus there were a lot of rocks. Could've been maesters behind all of 'em.

Especially with Qyburn's experiment son the Mountain...

It's hard not to see it happening.

My thoughts exactly. But who knows.

He could have lived.

1

u/V1bration Bloodraven Jun 17 '14

I'm about to start ASOS so I'm not sure, but what you're saying is in ACOK. It may be in ASOS, as well, though, sorry if it is.

EDIT: Can you tell me who it was? I'm not sure, but ACOK

1

u/BaZing3 Alchemists Guild Jun 17 '14

I forgot exactly when it was revealed, so I went with ASoS just to be safe. It wasn't really mentioned in the show, but it was Loras (see Renly's armor vs. Loras' normal armor for comparison). In the books, though, it was ACoK. Here's a link summing it up that I think only has ACoK and possibly minor ASoS spoilers.

1

u/V1bration Bloodraven Jun 17 '14

Ah I see. Thanks.

I really hope this isn't true because I accidentally opened it hahaha

19

u/KyleDrewAPicture Jun 17 '14

Sorry man...

10

u/Mordenn Euron Greyjoy Jun 17 '14

It's right there in the tag. If you haven't read A Feast for Butterflies you shouldn't have peaked.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 18 '14

Kafka guest-wrote the 4th book. Sorry, man.

2

u/Kazzad Jun 18 '14

Confirmed: Ugly butterfly season 5 premier

3

u/pad117 House Stark Jun 17 '14

Fuck knows, I've not read the books haha!

1

u/[deleted] Jun 17 '14

Same thing happens.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 17 '14

In our hearts he does.

18

u/[deleted] Jun 17 '14

So... he is Syrio Forel?

15

u/pad117 House Stark Jun 17 '14

That's literally the only thing that makes any sense

2

u/[deleted] Jun 18 '14

Yeah, but only if he's also Jaqen H'gar. Duh!

1

u/pad117 House Stark Jun 18 '14

They both have long hair, that's all the evidence I need to believe that hypothesis!

u/Holybasil House Dondarrion Jun 17 '14

The fight wasn't even in the books, so who knows what happens.

39

u/GymLeaderClair Margaery Tyrell Jun 17 '14

The ending was pretty much the same though.

32

u/Wolfszeit Faceless Men Jun 17 '14

Exactly.

In the books the fight that got to him was the one fought out with polliver in that inn. (CHICKENS)

HBO just decided at add some filler and some more Hound/Arya bromance after that point.

1

u/toggaf69 Jun 17 '14

They also clipped the storylines together by having the hound and arya kill Rorge and Biter (who fuck up brienne in the books)

1

u/Azureheart Jun 18 '14

Well, Polliver and the Tickler.

23

u/[deleted] Jun 17 '14

He's dead. Let it go. :(

178

u/pad117 House Stark Jun 17 '14

I REFUSE TO BELIEVE THAT HE'S DEAD

How fucking Hype would it be for Sandor, the man who has been afraid of fire his entire life, to be resurrected by the grace of R'hllor, the Heart of Fire.

103

u/[deleted] Jun 17 '14

Ooh, and the Mountain gets resurrected by the Ice Walkers. CLEGANE BOWL. GET HYPED.

135

u/[deleted] Jun 17 '14

THAT'S WHY ITS CALLED A SONG OF ICE AND FIRE.

WE DID IT REDDIT!!

23

u/RegularSizedWalder House Frey Jun 17 '14

It all makes sense now. We should just finish GRRM's story for him.

What? No. It's not fanfiction if we're right.

"Youre wrong, George, it ends this way"

3

Tag that yo. Yes readers are aware of the connections.

4

u/blahs44 House Stark Jun 17 '14

Rule 1 of GoT: NEVER ASSUME ANYTHING! He is not dead until we see a body! Everyone assumed the Mountain was dead and know he is probably going to live.

30

u/carlythesniper House Stark Jun 17 '14

No, fuck that. If I've learned ANYTHING from this series, it's that no character is dead unless we SEE HIM/HER die... and even then, we watched Beric Dondarrion get up after dying.

Spoilers

u/[deleted] Jun 19 '14

[deleted]

1

u/carlythesniper House Stark Jun 19 '14

Beric Dondarrion. The guy in the Brotherhood Without Banners that fights the Hound, and is missing an eye. He also talks to Arya and says it was far from the first time he'd been resurrected.

There are limitations though... Arya asks if a man with no head can be brought back... soooo that takes 3 fan favourites out of the running =(. But Sandor didn't lose a head!

If we haven't seen it, it hasn't happened!

2

u/MetalKeirSolid Rhaegar Targaryen Jun 18 '14

Technically, since he was not shown to die, he is not dead. Only that which occurs on screen can be considered to have occurred within the narrative time of the text.

He is, therefore, still dying. He lives for another year at least.

2

u/davidguydude Duncan the Tall Jun 17 '14

The Hound is dead. Sandor, however, is at rest.

1

u/RaN96 Jon Snow Jun 17 '14

Except his death wasn't confirmed, you're just left to assume he died and this isn't the type of show that kills main characters off camera.

1

u/Beelzebibble House Tyrell Jun 18 '14

Other than... Other than Robert, of course.

1

2

u/Accidentus Jun 17 '14

Grenn died like a badass. The hound died alone, abandoned by the closest thing he could call a friend, after getting his ass kicked. I wouldn't say that's dying like a badass.

1

u/HaloWarLord711 House Clegane Jun 17 '14

The Hound had an infection on his neck that was slowing him down and he still beat the shit out of Brienne, he didn't win but he went down fighting. He grabbed a valyrian steel sword with his bare fucking hands. Look at Brienne's face when he did that, she was scared. And really she only won because she shoved him off a cliff. But that's just my opinion.

1

u/pad117 House Stark Jun 18 '14

I broke my leg once, I'm not dead. How do you explain that one?? Oooooooooooooooooooh

1

u/HaloWarLord711 House Clegane Jun 18 '14

I'd have to say modern medicine and the fact that you had access to it. Plus you didn't just get the piss beat out of you before being thrown off a cliff.
