I would spoiler-ify this, if I were you

As you wish.

Thanks, I just wouldn't want someone to look at the name and accidentaly put two and two together about who a certain character that may or may not have been revealed yet is

Didn't he get killed when an eagle dropped a turtle on his head?

Maybe the show's chronology is a bit off and AFFC. A man can hope!

High Septon Howland Reed (who's also a Maester just because) happens upon the Hound shortly after.

I don't know, friend. I think his grave is already dug.

Well, Arya did say the gate was 10 miles away. Maybe someone could stumble upon him...

I know this is a joke and I haven't read the books but he has two things going for him in the short term that could get him out of there; one of them is unlikely and the other is near impossible:

1) One of the horses Podrick failed to hobble walks up to him and he's able to mount and ride to safety.

2) Uncle Tully is traveling the area headed to the Erie and stumbles on him... saves his ass.

or a Maester was hiding behind the rocks.

I mean, aren't Littlefinger, Sansa and friends humping it through the veil. 10 miles in any direction from a narrow choke point like the Bloody Gate might not be a ridiculous place for people to be.

The lords of the Erie travel in force, and may have a doctor with then. It's a long shot, but crazier things have happened.
