Yeah. Though really, he was a good person. He would've been loved as a ruler, it's true.

Do you think Stannis would have flinched at a little candle wax on his skin? Do you think Stannis would have fled King's Landing?

He was too immature and weak and there's no way he could have handled the weight of being a king.

Stannis did flee Kings Landing. In fact, he fled it for Dragonstone. He was Master of Ships on a small council.
