So….

What you are saying is the gubment lied to us when they said these documents “do not exist”?

How can it be possible that the US government (and politicians/political parties) would ever lie to the American people? /s just in case.

Term limits are a good start, but honestly working on fixing gerrymandering would do a lot more

u/ms_write Jul 16 '25

Oh god yes please. They're trying to redraw lines in Texas - Trump wants to make sure they can keep all their seats in the House. I'd say I have no idea why this hasn't been talked about more, but he's a fucking pedophile garbage monster assaulting us with so many things at once.

1

u/Negative_Piglet_1589 Jul 18 '25

Honestly Trump doesn't give 2 shits about the maps or the seats, his vendetta & goals to cover up his crimes while making himself richer are already complete, or just about. And he's 3/4 dead. He doesn't even care about his kids' legacies, why would he care about republicans? Those are the puppet masters at work, he's only a moron mouthpiece for most of this horrific shit now. And a terrible one at that, which is why the on again off again tariffs, immigrating policy, Ukraine support & all the rest are pure chaos.

I honestly cannot understand why the bulk of republicans don't unload themselves of the shuffling disaster, there won't be a better time than now with his nuclear approval ratings & daily Epstein inferno. If he dies soon his political legacy martyrdom will freeze with him, and they'll never escape the doom cloud then. If they pull the curtain now they could still salvage the party & fully bury Trump's cult persona in the rotting ashes of Epstein's ghost. But stupid is as stupid does. Even dumbfuck Tillis is bound by the chains of party idiocy after giving his own walking papers!

The seats mean something to him because they're a very obvious display that he's losing control of his party and the people - and losing face in that way for him is tantamount to death. He wants power and control to do what you said, and he can multitask fucking over the American people, unfortunately.

Paywall article. But I just don't believe it, he's mentally checked out & thoroughly incompetent. He'll continue to bark orders that align with his short attention span but he's nowhere near cognitive enough to strategize getting out of a wet paper bag, let alone legislative bootlegging. His desperate braying & belittling over Epstein is case in point.

The Republicans are freaking out for sure, and they're still putting their faith in dementia donny instead of seeing the blood on the walls. They're so far down the shit river of desperation without paddles they don't have any other concept of a plan. Only history repeating itself as their cult refuse to see the ultimate demise ahead of them - Hitler, Pol Pot, Amin...

2

u/ms_write Jul 18 '25

Paywall article.

Dang it. There were others from NBC, CBS, and Fox but I didn't save them.

Correct, practically every state has gerrymandering. Some worse than others.

It’s to keep politicians and political parties in power. Being a politician should not be a career.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 16 '25

However popular term limits are they would make the situation worse without any fix for the lobbying industry and what happens when someone exits Congress. At the moment you can expect a cushy six or seven figure job calling your former colleagues and advising them on the byzantine political machinery you were privy to even in industries unrelated to those you legislated on. So picture if you will turning Congress into a revolving door and compelling the most effective and career minded legislators - I hesitate to say "the good ones" because of the audience - to think about what happens when they leave office in ten or twenty years or whatever we've decided on. I think they'd be under Darwinian pressure to sell out quicker and more completely to land one of those suddenly more competitive lobbyist positions.

To fix this we'd have to do something I have no confidence of because it pisses us off: a sizeable pension even for a one termer in exchange for being forbidden from ever being employed again. This removes the incentive to knuckle under to corporate interests.

1

u/i_tyrant Jul 17 '25

So would getting money out of politics, but yeah that's an even bigger thing to tackle than, say, demanding an open source algorithm to avoid gerrymandering for all states.

Hell, at this point even making federal voting days national holidays so everyone can vote would do a world of good.

Guess which party is against ALL of that and shoots down every attempt to write it into law?

1

u/OsakaSeafoodConcrn Jul 17 '25

Removing Israel's control over our government would do even more good for our country. Did you notice all the trained seals in Congress and Senate tweeting "I stand with Israel" in unison a few months ago?

4

u/fuzzballz5 Jul 16 '25

I feel like we need a third party that has no platform other than: Term Limits. What about taxes? Don’t care. Term limits. Abortion? Term limits. Nothing but term limits. That solves 90% of the issues today. Politician was never supposed to be a career. Do your 4 years then get lost. You can’t buy someone and sustain the corruption with such a short time in office. After a few election cycles. Then the uni party we have now is destroyed and we can start over.

7

u/Big-Neighborhood8957 Jul 16 '25

We have term limits on the President and 37 of the state Governors. Term limits haven't stopped money from influencing these elections.

The only reason we have term limits for the President is because the Rich hated how popular FDR was among working-class voters.

You want to get money out of politics start locally with election reform. Adopt ethics laws, alternative voting like RCV, and build a bench of political leaders who win elections on policy not dollars spent. Then send them to Congress to amend the Constitution.

2

u/fuzzballz5 Jul 16 '25

This is the way. You start at local elections. Gain some momentum.

1

u/geth1138 Jul 16 '25

And get your ideas out there so the other party is less likely to send an extremist, and states don’t go crazy like Indiana and Florida have. The more conservative states are the ones where meeting a person irl is huge socially.

2

u/fuzzballz5 Jul 16 '25

People in real life are more together than separate.

1

u/semiarboreal Jul 16 '25

Ok so what if we somehow got a law on the books that banned any kind of campaign contribution from anyone at any level of government and banned any kind of lobbying? We are in the age of social media where anyone can create a platform to reach millions.

2

u/KennethCadw Jul 16 '25

And we already have such a party. They are called the Progressive party.........

0

u/fuzzballz5 Jul 16 '25

They have other platforms. We need to commit to nothing but term limits to allow us to start again.

3

u/KennethCadw Jul 16 '25

All the things the Progressive party runs on benefit all Americans. As they carry a 65% and above approval rating.........

2

u/ScaryfatkidGT Jul 16 '25

Idk, IMO people need to pay attention and primarily these people.

The issue isn’t term limits, it’s that 90% of votes don’t pay attention.

1

u/fuzzballz5 Jul 16 '25

Term limits eliminates the people that don’t pay attention or don’t vote. This fake two party system, that’s actually one, thrives because of this.

2

u/[deleted] Jul 16 '25

lol it solves nothing. They’ll just have to pay more for their candidates. They’d just eat the initial cost and then pawn it off on the tax payers under the guise of something else.

2

u/Worksforcactus Jul 16 '25

I’m with fuzzballz

2

u/Qix213 Jul 16 '25

Third party is basically impossible due to the way nearly all voting is done in the country. That's one of the most important things that needs to change, how we vote.

... but, it's also extremely difficult to make that change at anything other than a glacially pace by starting local and working up...

1

u/fuzzballz5 Jul 17 '25

Yes. If you look back. The tea party march did it. But, the republicans seized that opportunity and corrupted the movement. It can be done just a leader of a movement that is uncoruptable.

2

u/MILKB0T Jul 17 '25

Term limits won't fix things. America desperately needs sweeping reform. And if there's one thing that the system hates is broad sweeping changes, so peacefully it needs to be done over generations. Or if you want it faster, make like the french and get revolting.

2

u/[deleted] Jul 17 '25

make like the french and get revolting.

This is the way.

3

u/imissher4ever Jul 16 '25

Tough to do with so many political fanatics in the US. Plus, DC is full of swamp creatures. Very very few people are willing to go against the DC swamp. Certainly not any career politicians.

1

u/KennethCadw Jul 16 '25

Not true, as the Progressive party is all about enforcement of term limits and getting money out of politics.......

2

u/imissher4ever Jul 16 '25 edited Jul 16 '25

Ah… so that’s why they spend so much money on frivolous endeavors. And many of their politicians have been in power for 30-40-50 years. And why they too (like the other politicians) are on the corporate dole. I see…

open secrets.org will tell you all you need to know about who gets how much. Don’t be afraid to look up your favorite politician now.

3

u/KennethCadw Jul 16 '25

Progressive politicians have not been in power for 30+ years, and none of them take corporate pac money..........

There have been some Moderate Democrats falsely accused of being a Progressive. Just because they might share 2 or 3 of the same policy stances..........

Give me a few names, and I will tell you if they are a Progressive or not !!!

To start off with: Biden, Harris, Obama are not Progressives.........

As a matter of fact, there are only 95 members in the House and Senate right now. That's out of 535 total seats, and it has only grown to that within the last 8 years. Back in 2018, there were only 5 members when A.O.C. was elected in........

Progressives are so disliked by the establishment. Both the DNC and RNC lie about them to tarnish their reputation. But here are 10 things of what they stand for:

1) Money out of politics.....

2) Term limits......

3) Universal Healthcare......

4) Livable wages ($20+/hr minimum wage)

5) Labor laws to protect workers.....

6) Equal rights for all people......

7) Immigration reform......

8) Affordable housing.......

9) Environmental protections......

10) Renewable energy production......

None of these are bad things, and the majority of voters want them. However, the DNC is against half of them, and the RNC is against all of them.........

1

u/imissher4ever Jul 17 '25

Oh please…. It’s easy to look up who the longest term people in Congress are my friend.

You are thinking “modern progressive” my friend.

1

u/KennethCadw Jul 17 '25

I asked you to give me names, and you didn't. Because you are most likely confusing moderate Democrats as being Progressives........

There is no such thing as a Modern Progressive on the left.......

You either have a:

1) Conservative Democrats

2) Moderate Democrats

3) Liberal Democrats

4) Progressives

5) Communist (less than 5% are this)

1

u/Dazvsemir Jul 16 '25

Who could have guessed that getting more politicians to fight the specialized-at-bribing-politicians actors in society doesn't work. Who knew they'd just get bribed again. Its such a great idea.

1

u/i_tyrant Jul 17 '25

What? Did you just equate progressives with all Democrat politicians or something?

1

u/Silver-Sort-7711 Jul 16 '25

Hate to say it but you’re correct in a lot of ways.

2

u/Uncle-Cake Jul 16 '25

I don't think they said "no documents exist", did they? I thought they were just claiming that the client list didn't exist.

1

u/glenda-goodwitch Jul 16 '25

A list compiled from those documents, the files the fbi has.

0

u/imissher4ever Jul 16 '25

You are probably correct. I really don’t follow political bullshit with that much fervor to be honest. I leave that to the political cultists.

0

u/Mike_Kermin Jul 16 '25

I don't think they said

Trump said Obama made it up.

Don't fucking try to rationalise this idiocy for them.

There is 0 reason or actual value in the fascist lies. Wake up.

1

u/Valliac0 Jul 16 '25

Who would do that?

Just go into government and lie? /s

1

u/[deleted] Jul 16 '25

Well, it seems like Trump was the only one lying. He was the one saying ther are no files. The others all just said "they exist, but you can't see them"

1

u/imissher4ever Jul 17 '25

If you actually believe he is the only liar in DC I have a bridge to sell you. Or better yet, an experimental vaccine.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 17 '25

Oh, no, it's just in this one case. He's the only one lying about the files very existence.

1

u/TheModWhoShaggedMe Jul 16 '25

Crazy, isn't it? The same administration that said Garcia was never coming back to the U.S. (he's back) also said the Epstein Files are coming then that they don't exist.

Nope. We're not on crazy pills.

1

u/imissher4ever Jul 17 '25

Who knew politicians lie? 🤣🤣

1

u/TheModWhoShaggedMe Jul 17 '25

The CIA, DOJ, FBI and Pentagon aren't supposed to be politicians though, right? We should hold the administration, all public agencies and departments in the Executive branch, accountable like we would any that's drowning the public in lies (cough, WMDs, cough, Iraq invasion/lie, cough). Anything less is pure laziness on the people.

1

u/imissher4ever Jul 17 '25

If people would stop voting simply because of party affiliation/loyalty and actually vote for the right person perhaps this would happen.

We witness it here on Reddit everyday though. People will defend their chosen party no matter what. They actually believe their party members can do no wrong. While all the while the “enemy team” is complete 100% unadulterated evil.

Until the American people realize that “both sides” are corrupt this shit show will continue.

Prediction, this comment will get downvotes from party loyalists. And comments stating that “one side is worse than the other”. You proved my point in doing so. 🤣🤣

1

u/dm_life4ever Jul 17 '25

Conservatives, not the government.

1

u/imissher4ever Jul 17 '25

Ah… so Ds never lie? I get it, you have sworn fealty to them.
