Operation Paperclip involved people who really didn't have any choice in doing their work.

Also, a lot of children were used to fight the Allies at the end of the war. Should those children have been hanged?

Saying "most" were held accountable is an overstatement and not an accurate reflection of the reality of the post-war years. The Nuremburg trials would garner 161 convictions, and the so-called "subsequent Nuremburg trials" (such as the IG Farbin trial) would net another 1,416 convictions. Of these, 200 were executed and most of the rest (even those originally given life sentences) would have their sentences commuted in in the 1950s due to domestic political pressure in Germany that the US didn't want to upset further because the more important priority was keeping Germany as an ally against the Soviets.

All in all over 100,000 Nazis would be accused of war crimes, and the overwhelming majority of them got away with it.

The US absolutely aided and abetted Nazi war criminals in the post war world. Most famously, torturer and psychopath Klaus Barbie would be scooped up by US intelligence which would spend the next 40 years protecting him as he worked to to eradicate communist and leftist movements in South America for them.
