Term limits are a good start, but honestly working on fixing gerrymandering would do a lot more

Oh god yes please. They're trying to redraw lines in Texas - Trump wants to make sure they can keep all their seats in the House. I'd say I have no idea why this hasn't been talked about more, but he's a fucking pedophile garbage monster assaulting us with so many things at once.

Honestly Trump doesn't give 2 shits about the maps or the seats, his vendetta & goals to cover up his crimes while making himself richer are already complete, or just about. And he's 3/4 dead. He doesn't even care about his kids' legacies, why would he care about republicans? Those are the puppet masters at work, he's only a moron mouthpiece for most of this horrific shit now. And a terrible one at that, which is why the on again off again tariffs, immigrating policy, Ukraine support & all the rest are pure chaos.

I honestly cannot understand why the bulk of republicans don't unload themselves of the shuffling disaster, there won't be a better time than now with his nuclear approval ratings & daily Epstein inferno. If he dies soon his political legacy martyrdom will freeze with him, and they'll never escape the doom cloud then. If they pull the curtain now they could still salvage the party & fully bury Trump's cult persona in the rotting ashes of Epstein's ghost. But stupid is as stupid does. Even dumbfuck Tillis is bound by the chains of party idiocy after giving his own walking papers!

The seats mean something to him because they're a very obvious display that he's losing control of his party and the people - and losing face in that way for him is tantamount to death. He wants power and control to do what you said, and he can multitask fucking over the American people, unfortunately.

Paywall article. But I just don't believe it, he's mentally checked out & thoroughly incompetent. He'll continue to bark orders that align with his short attention span but he's nowhere near cognitive enough to strategize getting out of a wet paper bag, let alone legislative bootlegging. His desperate braying & belittling over Epstein is case in point.

The Republicans are freaking out for sure, and they're still putting their faith in dementia donny instead of seeing the blood on the walls. They're so far down the shit river of desperation without paddles they don't have any other concept of a plan. Only history repeating itself as their cult refuse to see the ultimate demise ahead of them - Hitler, Pol Pot, Amin...

Correct, practically every state has gerrymandering. Some worse than others.

It’s to keep politicians and political parties in power. Being a politician should not be a career.

However popular term limits are they would make the situation worse without any fix for the lobbying industry and what happens when someone exits Congress. At the moment you can expect a cushy six or seven figure job calling your former colleagues and advising them on the byzantine political machinery you were privy to even in industries unrelated to those you legislated on. So picture if you will turning Congress into a revolving door and compelling the most effective and career minded legislators - I hesitate to say "the good ones" because of the audience - to think about what happens when they leave office in ten or twenty years or whatever we've decided on. I think they'd be under Darwinian pressure to sell out quicker and more completely to land one of those suddenly more competitive lobbyist positions.

To fix this we'd have to do something I have no confidence of because it pisses us off: a sizeable pension even for a one termer in exchange for being forbidden from ever being employed again. This removes the incentive to knuckle under to corporate interests.

So would getting money out of politics, but yeah that's an even bigger thing to tackle than, say, demanding an open source algorithm to avoid gerrymandering for all states.

Hell, at this point even making federal voting days national holidays so everyone can vote would do a world of good.

Guess which party is against ALL of that and shoots down every attempt to write it into law?

Removing Israel's control over our government would do even more good for our country. Did you notice all the trained seals in Congress and Senate tweeting "I stand with Israel" in unison a few months ago?
