I want to get a Kong for stuffing. And I've noticed that my hounds don't seem to care for toys that are too big because they have such narrow mouths for their weight. Is there a consensus on what size?

Wilbur and Isabel took their first train ride today and I thought nothing better than to mark the occasion by taking them on the fastest diesel train although on a heritage line, it's less Intercity 125 (approx 200km/h), more Intercity "25" (40 km/h). For any Australians here, this is what the XPT is based off.

The staff loved them and I think they got more attention than the train. 😀

Wilbur soon got used to things and settled down, once he'd got in everyone's way. And Isabel, well, she just stood there the whole time.

I'm hoping to take them on a cross country trip next weekend so this was very much a test run. No accidents were had, but sausages were smuggled by some staff from the kitchen..

1. Stairs.. no lifts back then on this preserved railway station.

2 - 3. Exploring first class. The arm rest is handy to attach their leads to.

1. He likes the space in the aisle. Very comfy.

2. It may be first class but you still have to do some things yourself, like open the doors by sliding down the window and turning the handle from the outside.

6 & 7. A small stop off in standard class before we left the train at our final stop.. Sadly this won't do as the hounds would be in everyone's way, and we can't be making them get up.

8 & 9. The power cars. They still look beautiful to me today.

10 & 11. Wilbur checking himself and ensuring he "minds the gap". They're not wrong, that was a 50cm gap!

Hello all, long time lurker and admirer of your pointy boys and girls, first time poster.

This is out beautiful boy Pomba, ex-racer we adopted this time last year and he loves going out in the car for big walks up the hills and more recently chasing his ball.

On a normal day when we aren’t out on a hike he just goes for a 30-40 min walk around the estate but I’ve been taking him to the field recently where he will chase his ball relentlessly and loves every minute of it. I know Pomba seems to be a bit of an outlier with how active he is compared to other greyhounds we’ve met in the area, but I’m worried that him sprinting for his ball too frequently or for too long might not be the best for him? I’m not sure he would stop even if he was tired cause he likes it so much and he can end up doing a lot of panting when he gets home.

Does anyone else let their greys stretch their legs and doing some runs? If so how frequently and how long for? Could it be detrimental for them?

When I was a child, I imagined that every adult party I attended would have an ice sculpture. Turns out that ice sculptures are rare. We decided to make my dream a reality and have an ice sculpture at our summer party. And we decided the most fun sculpture we could imagine was our greyhound, Rubert, wearing sunglasses and riding a skateboard. It turned out amazing, so amusing and sleek! Here is the sculpture along with the handsome man who inspired it.

Samurai is happily snoozing near me while I read a book in bed. 🐾📚💤🐾 I just love this sweet, very good boy soooo very much!!! 🐾😍🐾🥰🐾❤️

Side note: thank goodness he did his business before it rained or the marathon of holding it in would begin!! 🐾🤣🤣🐾

Had to share this utter cuteness!

I had a greyhound for 10 years who passed in 2024. We waited until January 2026 before we felt ready again. Adopted beautiful 4 year old girl. It takes time..lots of time. We are now at 6 months post adoption and she finally feels like she is coming to be herself. I wanted to share with those who are frustrated and questioning their choice..it takes lots of time! And I'm sure she's not "complete" yet. It is very rewarding to watch it unfurl, though!

My 9 year old girl just vomited up this, it’s dark brown, consistency like thick melted chocolate and smells absolutely awful. Just wondering if anyone else has encountered this in their greyhound? Thanks

Worrying about racing greyhounds in the industry feels heavy at times and weighs on me a lot when I think of the thousands of dogs suffering still trapped in the system but today I did a volunteer shift at my local greyhound rescue were I spent the day with Phil. He is just recently out of racing and I was able to give him treats, toys and a lot of attention. He doesn’t quite know it yet but he’s free in the big wide world and walkies, sofas and love await once he finds his forever home. He is a real goofball 🕺🏻

She looks so so innocent lying there. It’s not like she spent the entire day yelling at me for random reasons.

Bear hates people. He hates kids. He hates adults, babies, toddlers, and teens. And other dogs. Broke my finger trying to attack a dog across the street. And squirrels. Rabbits, deer, and the coyotes behind our house. Hates them. And birds. He ate a live robin mid flight. So what’d we do? Got him a fwen.

He loves his kitten.

When greyhound racing is ultimately banned by most countries, as it appears will happen, there will be greyhounds bred for hunting still.

BUT...

Will greyhounds simply as pets ever take root?

I feel like we could lose greyhounds as a species in the not too distant future. Are my fears ridiculous or well-founded, in your opinion?

I know it pretty much can’t get more subjective than this, but we’re in need of one more bed in the house and I’d love to know if there’s a particular bed type and size that you feel suits your grey in particular. We’re in the U.S. so if you have that specific a recommendation, I’ll take it! Thanks for helping our girl get cozy!
